1.3 Product parts
The product consists of the following parts:
- 1. LED strip: A 2-meter flexible strip with multiple RGB LEDs.
- 2. USB-A connector: A cable with a USB-A connector that integrates the infrared sensor and WiFi controller. This unit connects to the LED strip.
- 3. Remote control: A compact, multi-button remote control for direct operation of the LED strip's functions.
- 4. WiFi controller: A small white rectangular module that connects to the LED strip and facilitates wireless connectivity.
- 5. Connectors: Small plastic connectors designed to join cut sections of the LED strip, allowing for custom lengths.
Safety Note
Do not modify the product or exchange any parts. Do not cover the product once it is installed and connected to the power. Do not install the product on top of high-heat objects or in a wet place.
2. Installation and Setup
2.1 How to connect the strip
Connect the infrared sensor (WiFi controller) to the end of the LED strip, ensuring correct alignment as indicated by the arrows (otherwise, the light will not function). Plug the USB-A cable into the end of the WiFi controller and connect it to a power source.
2.2 How to cut the strip
To cut the strip, disconnect it from the power supply. Use a pair of scissors ✂️ to make a cut along the marked guides on the strip. Once cut, you can reconnect the pieces using the provided connectors.
3. Initial Settings
3.1 Download the app
The compatible app for the SmartLED TV Strip is called Tuya Smart. You can download it in two ways:
Directly from the app stores by searching for "Tuya Smart" on Google Play or the App Store.
3.2 Pairing iOS / Android devices
To complete the pairing process, ensure the strip is properly installed and powered on.
- Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled.
- Set the strip to pairing mode: Turn the strip on and off repeatedly (on-off-on-off-off) until the light blinks rapidly. Complete the network setup within 3 minutes of resetting the device.
- Open the Tuya Smart app and tap "Add Device".
- If the strip is in pairing mode, it should appear automatically in the app for you to add.
- Enter your WiFi network name and password. The pairing process will then begin.
Troubleshooting
If the app cannot find the device: Power off the device, then set it to pairing mode again. Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled and accept all requested app permissions.
Note:
For successful synchronization, accept all app permissions. When linking for the first time, connect to a WiFi network and ensure the light is blinking and the password is correct. The connection may take several minutes. After the first connection, you can use any WiFi or mobile data. The strip is compatible with 2.4 GHz WLAN (Android 4.4+ / iOS 8.0+). Do not use 5G WiFi. For the first connection, be close to the router. Avoid placing multiple devices too close together to prevent signal interference.
4. App Usage
The Tuya Smart app is designed to be simple and intuitive. Ensure you accept all permissions to access all device functions and features. The app has 4 main features:
- Lighting Control: Adjust white and color lights, and select preset lighting modes (represented by a bulb icon ?).
- Scene Modes: Select pre-defined scene modes (represented by a paint palette icon ?).
- Music and Lighting Sync Tool: Synchronize lights with music (represented by a musical note icon ?).
- Extra Features Menu: Access options like schedules and timers (represented by 4 small squares ?).
4.1 Lighting Control
Precisely control color lighting and choose from a wide variety of preset scene modes. You can select colors from a color wheel and adjust brightness using a slider.
4.2 Scene Modes
Select from various groups of general scene modes, each offering numerous lighting patterns. You can also create your own custom scene modes by clicking the (+) icon.
4.3 Music and Lighting Sync Tool
Choose between "Local Mode" (preset music styles) and "App Mode" (sync with your own songs). To sync with your music, select "App Mode". Accept microphone permissions for the lights to synchronize with the rhythm of the music. IMPORTANT: Accept all requested app accesses for the lights to follow the music's rhythm by combining different lights, colors, and effects.
4.4 Extra Features Menu
This section offers various options such as Countdown, Timer, and Power-on behavior. Simply tap on the desired option and set your parameters.
4.5 Voice Assistants
To set up voice assistants, tap the edit icon (⚙️) in the top right corner of the app. This allows third parties like Alexa and Google Home to control the strip. You can adjust brightness, color temperature, and color, or turn the lighting on/off with voice commands. You can also configure device name and access device information from this screen.
4.6 More about the App
Access additional functions via the menu button (top right corner of the app):
- Change device name.
- View device information.
- Use Tap-to-Run and Automation to check linked intelligent automations.
- Get information on connecting with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
- Set up disconnection notices to alert you when the device is offline.
- Create "Groups" to control multiple smart devices simultaneously.
- Access FAQ & Feedback for reporting issues and getting assistance.
- Add the smart device to your smartphone's home screen.
- Check device network status.
- View firmware information and install updates.
5. Remote Control
The strip includes a remote control for use without a smartphone. While the app offers more features, the remote is often handier.
Button Functions:
- 1. Brightness Adjustment: Press buttons to increase or decrease brightness.
- 2. ON/OFF Button: Press buttons to turn the strip on or off.
- 3. RGB Colour Switch: Press buttons to cycle through different colors.
- 4. Scene Modes: Press buttons to switch between different scene modes.
6. Warnings
- Please strictly follow this user manual for installation and use to avoid accidents.
- Do not alter or modify any product component.
- Turn off power and the main electrical panel before installation or maintenance to prevent electric shock.
- Do not install on unstable or unsafe ceilings.
- Do not cover the product with blankets or similar objects.
- Do not handle components for installation, repair, or checking unless you are a qualified electrician. Wire connections must follow IEE electric standards or other valid national standards.
- Do not install the product above hot or wet surfaces.
