Intended Use

The BLACK+DECKER BDCSFL20 flashlight screwdriver is designed for screwdriving applications. This tool is intended for consumer use only.

⚠️ Warning! Fire hazard. Do not operate worklight or charger near flammable liquids or in gaseous or explosive atmospheres. Internal sparks may ignite fumes causing personal injury.

Cautionary Notes

❗ Caution! When not in use, place the tool on its side on a stable surface where it will not cause a tripping or falling hazard. Some tools with large battery packs will stand upright on the battery pack but may be easily knocked over.

Residual Risks

Additional residual risks may arise when using the tool which may not be included in the enclosed safety warnings. These risks can arise from misuse, prolonged use etc. Even with the application of the relevant safety regulations and the implementation of safety devices, certain residual risks cannot be avoided. These include:

Vibration

The declared vibration emission values stated in the technical data and the declaration of conformity have been measured in accordance with a standard test method provided by EN62841 and may be used for comparing one tool with another. The declared vibration emission value may also be used in a preliminary assessment of exposure.

⚠️ Warning! The vibration emission value during actual use of the power tool can differ from the declared value depending on the ways in which the tool is used. The vibration level may increase above the level stated.

When assessing vibration exposure to determine safety measures required by 2002/44/EC to protect persons regularly using power tools in employment, an estimation of vibration exposure should consider the actual conditions of use and the way the tool is used, including taking account of all parts of the operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time.

The charger is intended for indoor use only.

Read the instruction manual before use.

Electrical Safety

Your charger is double insulated; therefore no earth wire is required. Always check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate. Never attempt to replace the charger unit with a regular mains plug.

⚠️ If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Operation

Charging Tool (Fig. A)

Diagram description: Figure A shows the charger plug (6a) being inserted into the tool's charger connector (6) for charging.

The battery needs to be charged before first use and whenever it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were easily done before. The battery may become warm while charging; this is normal and does not indicate a problem.

⚠️ Warning! Only use the charger provided to charge the tool.

⚠️ Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures below 10 °C or above 40 °C. Recommended charging temperature: approx. 24 °C.

Fitting and Removing a Screwdriver Bit or Socket (Fig. B)

Diagram description: Figure B shows a screwdriver bit (9) being pushed into the tool's bit holder (3) to fit it, and being pulled out to remove it.

⚠️ Warning! Make certain the tool is locked to prevent switch actuation before installing or removing accessories.

Using the Flashlight (Fig. C)

Diagram description: Figure C shows the flashlight button (8) being pressed to turn on the flashlight (7), and pressed again to turn it off.

Switching On and Off (Fig. D)

Diagram description: Figure D shows the trigger switch (1) being pressed and held to operate the tool, and released to switch it off.

Selecting the Direction of Rotation (Fig. E)

Diagram description: Figure E shows the forward/reverse slider (2) being moved to the right for forward rotation (tightening), to the left for reverse rotation (loosening), and to the center position to lock the tool.

For tightening screws and drilling pilot holes, use forward (clockwise) rotation. For loosening screws or removing a jammed drill bit, use reverse (counterclockwise) rotation.

Adjusting the Handle (Fig. F)

Diagram description: Figure F shows the handle adjustment button (4) being pressed, the handle (5) being moved to one of three positions, and the button being released.

For optimum versatility, the handle (5) can be set to three different positions.

Maintenance

Your BLACK+DECKER tool has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.

Your charger does not require any maintenance apart from regular cleaning.

⚠️ Warning! Before performing any maintenance on the tool, remove the battery from the tool. Unplug the charger before cleaning it.

Protecting the Environment

Separate collection. Products and batteries marked with this symbol (♻️) must not be disposed of with normal household waste.
