Precautions
Safety and Power Sources:
- To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the player to rain or moisture.
- To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
- Do not install the appliance in a confined space, such as a bookcase or built-in cabinet.
- Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the appliance.
- If any solid object or liquid falls into the player, unplug it and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating further.
- For AC operation, ensure the player's operating voltage matches your local power supply and use the supplied AC power cord.
- The player is not disconnected from AC power as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if turned off.
- For battery operation, use six R20 (size D) batteries. Remove batteries when not in use to prevent damage from leakage or corrosion.
- The nameplate indicating operating voltage and power consumption is located at the rear.
Placement and Operation:
- Do not leave the player near heat sources, direct sunlight, excessive dust, or mechanical shock.
- Ensure ventilation holes are unobstructed (maintain at least 10 mm clearance).
- Keep personal credit cards with magnetic coding and spring-wound watches away from the player due to the strong magnet used for the speakers.
- If the player has not been used for a long time, warm it up by setting it to playback mode for a few minutes before inserting a cassette.
- Consult your nearest Sony dealer for questions or problems.
