Before First Use
Ensure your home power supply matches the appliance's rating plate.
Connect the appliance to a power source. Unused cable can be stored in the base of the appliance.
All appliances are tested during production. Rinse the appliance twice with the maximum amount of water, without a filter bag or ground coffee, to clean it.
Making Coffee
Ensure the appliance is connected to the power source.
Open the water tank lid.
Fill the water tank with the desired amount of cold water using the glass carafe. Use the water level display on the tank to measure the correct number of cups (small cup symbol ≈ 85ml, large cup symbol ≈ 125ml per cup).
Close the water tank lid and place the glass carafe with its lid closed into the appliance.
Open the swing filter holder to the left.
Fold a Melitta® 1x4® filter bag along the embossed seam and place it in the filter holder. Press the filter bag into the holder by hand to ensure a good fit.
Add ground coffee to the coffee filter. Melitta® recommends using 6-8g of coffee per large cup at a medium setting of the Aroma Selector®.
Swing the filter holder back into the appliance. An audible click indicates it is properly inserted.
You can vary the coffee taste by adjusting the Aroma Selector®: turn left () for milder coffee, turn right () for stronger coffee.
Turn the appliance on. Brewing begins.
After brewing, the hotplate keeps the coffee warm and automatically switches off approximately 40 minutes after activation to save energy. You can also switch off the machine manually at any time.
The drip stop prevents coffee from dripping when the carafe is removed from the appliance.
Cleaning and Care
External Cleaning
The housing can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth.
The glass carafe with lid and the swing filter holder are dishwasher-safe.
When cold, the hotplate can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth.
Descaling
Depending on water hardness, the appliance can become calcified over time, increasing energy consumption. To avoid damage, the appliance must be descaled regularly.
- Descaling: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for dosage and pour the descaler into the water tank. Melitta® recommends using "Anti Calc Liquid for Filter Coffee & Aqua Machines". Turn the appliance on and follow the descaler manufacturer's instructions. Turn off the appliance immediately once the descaler liquid has run through.
- Rinsing: After descaling, rinse the appliance with fresh water. Fill the appliance with the maximum amount of water after a brief cooling period (approx. two minutes). Turn the appliance on, let the water flow through completely, and then turn it off immediately. Repeat the rinsing process.
