1. Preparation
Prepare the Flexible Denture Base, Denture Teeth, and Model after the post-curing work has been completed. (Note: For the Flexible Denture Base, preparation is done only after the 1st post-curing as per the TFDH post-processing manual.)
Tools Needed:
- Denture Bar: A rotary tool for trimming and finishing.
- Flat Brush and Wax Instrument: For applying resin and shaping.
- Cotton Swab: For cleaning and removing excess material.
- Denture Pad: A polishing pad for smoothing surfaces.
- Glaze Resin: A light-cured protective coating for restorations (e.g., OPTIGLAZE™, PALA™ Palaseal™).
- Resin Separator (Vaseline): To prevent resin adhesion to unwanted areas.
Equipment:
- LED Light Curing Machine: Such as Graphy_CureM_U102H or similar LED handy light curing machines.
2. Fitting Check and Trimming the Flexible Denture Base
Remove support marks on the surface of the Flexible Denture Base using the denture bar. Check the fitting of the model and the Flexible Denture Base, removing any unnecessary parts for an accurate fit.
After checking the fitting, smooth the outer surface of the Flexible Denture Base with the denture pad. Wash the trimmed Flexible Denture Base with running water.
3. Glazing the Flexible Denture Base
(Optional: Skip this section if a polished finish is desired without glazing.)
Remove any remaining water after washing using a swab or similar tool. Prepare a small amount of Flexible Denture Resin (TFDH).
Apply the resin thinly to the outer surface of the Flexible Denture Base using a brush. Ensure the resin does not flow into the inner surface of the denture or the areas where the teeth will be seated.
Place the stainless bowl containing the flexible denture in the center of the rotation table within the CureM chamber. Post-cure for 20 minutes using Level 3 strength on the CureM machine.
4. Denture Teeth Trimming and Fitting Check
Remove support marks from the surface of the denture teeth. Check the fitting between the flexible denture and the teeth. If necessary, adjust the contact and basal surface areas of the teeth.
5. Attaching and Glazing the Denture Teeth
Apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the areas of the model that might be stained by resin.
Pour the Flexible Denture resin into the positions where the teeth will be seated, using a wax instrument. Ensure an appropriate amount of resin is used so it slightly overflows when the teeth are seated.
Place the teeth in the correct positions. Wipe off any spilled resin with a cotton swab.
Apply Glaze Resin thinly onto the surface of the attached teeth using a brush. Glaze resins such as GC and Kulzer are recommended.
After applying the glaze resin, place the Flexible Denture into the CureM chamber. Cure with Level 3 for 1 minute.
6. Finalize
After glazing the teeth, the production of the flexible denture is complete.
Appendix
1. Polishing
Abrasive polishing using pumice and rouge is possible, similar to existing flexible dentures.
2. Solution for Clasp Fitting Issue
If clasp deformation is observed during the manufacturing process (e.g., photo-curing), it can be resolved as follows:
- Prepare hot water over 80 degrees Celsius.
- Soak the Flexible Denture, seated on the model, in the hot water for 1 minute.
- Remove the Flexible Denture and model from the hot water and gently press the deformed area with your hands.
- Place the denture and model in cool running water until they are completely cool.
Clasp fitting issues can be resolved using this method.
