AOFAR HX-1100V Hunting Rangefinder
User Manual and Product Information
Product Overview
The AOFAR HX-1100V is a laser rangefinder designed for hunting and outdoor activities. It provides accurate distance measurements, angle readings, and speed measurements.
Brand: AOFAR
Model: HX-1100V
Manufacturer: CHANGZHOU JIANFU OPTOELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CO.,LTD.
Operation Instructions
Focus Adjustment
The HX-1100V features an adjustable eyepiece with a +/-3 Diopter range, allowing users with different vision prescriptions to observe the LCD clearly without glasses. Rotate the eyepiece until the reticle and object display are sharp.
Modes Memory Function
The rangefinder defaults to RANGE mode upon startup. Any operational settings or modes selected will be remembered and applied on the next power-on after shutdown.
Functions of "MODE" Button
Units Switch
The unit of measure (Yards or Meters) is indicated in the lower right portion of the LCD. To switch between Yards (Y) and Meters (M), press and hold the "MODE" button for 3 seconds.
Mode Switch
Single-point the "MODE" button to cycle through the available modes: Range mode, Speed mode, and Scan mode.
Range Mode
Display: The display shows an aiming circle, distance, angle, and unit indicator (Y/M).
Operation: Aim the center circle at a target more than 5 yards away. Press and release the "POWER" button. The rangefinder will display the range and angle, followed by the horizontal distance. The device automatically powers off after 8 seconds of inactivity.
The upper part of the LCD shows the angle of the target (uphill/downhill), which is then converted to the horizontal distance.
Speed Mode
Display: The "Spd" logo appears on the left side of the screen, along with the speed unit (e.g., m/s).
Operation: Single-click the "POWER" button to aim at a moving target (target B) and track its movement. The speed of the target is displayed. Ensure the aiming circle is aligned with the target until it stops flashing. For accurate speed measurements, the angle of elevation (α) should be less than 10 degrees.
Diagram shows a person aiming at a target B on a slope, with an angle α indicated.
Scan Mode (Continuous Scan)
Display: The "Scan" logo appears on the left side of the screen.
Operation: Press and hold the "POWER" button to continuously scan and measure distances to multiple targets. The "scan" indicator remains active. The center circle flashes during scanning. The angle and distance readings update dynamically. The final readings for the last target are displayed upon completion. This mode is recommended for measuring targets in challenging hunting conditions.
Hunting Mode Instruction
This mode is particularly useful for bowhunters who rely on accurate horizontal distance. For example, if the straight-line distance to a deer is 32 yards with a -44 degree angle, the true horizontal distance is 23 yards. Shooting at 32 yards would cause the arrow to go over the target. Bowhunters need the horizontal distance for precise aiming adjustments. The perceived difference in uphill/downhill shots is often due to the bow's sighting system rather than gravity.
Diagram illustrates a deer on a slope, showing line of sight (32 yards), angle (-44°), and true distance (23 yards).

How to Work and Ranging Accuracy
The HX-1100V emits invisible, eye-safe, infrared energy pulses. Sophisticated digital technology calculates distances by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to travel to the target and back. The accuracy of the measurement can be affected by the target's color, surface smoothness, size, and sharpness, as these factors influence reflectivity.
Measurement can be difficult under the following conditions:
- Raining or fogging
- Target is too small
- Low reflectivity of the measured object (e.g., black surfaces, complex shapes, curved surfaces, water, glass, or mirror surfaces)
- Low battery power
Components Name
The rangefinder has the following components:
- Laser Transmitting Objective Lens
- Laser Receiving Objective Lens
- Units Switching Button / "M" button (m: Meter / Y: Yard)
- Power/Reading Button
- Rotary Focusing
- Battery Cap
- Observing Eye lens/LCD (Liquid crystal display)
- Sling Connecting Hole

Getting Started (Inserting the Battery)
- Remove the battery cap by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Insert a CR2-3V battery, ensuring the negative pole [-] is placed into the battery compartment first.
- Replace the battery cap by tightening it clockwise.
Note: It is recommended to replace the battery once every 12 months.
Low Battery Indicator: If the low battery symbol [low battery symbol] appears on the LCD, the 3-volt lithium battery should be replaced.
