LD MAILA App Quick Start Guide

This guide provides essential information for setting up and configuring your LD MAILA audio system using the MAILA App.

Safety Instructions

This app is intended exclusively for use with components of the LD MAILA series. This quick guide does not replace the operating instructions of the associated product; always read the corresponding operating instructions first. The app has no influence on the intended use of the associated product. Observe the safety instructions from the user manual of the associated product!

ATTENTION, HIGH VOLUME AUDIO PRODUCTS!

This app and associated products are intended for professional use. Commercial operation is subject to applicable national regulations and guidelines for accident prevention. Hearing damage due to high volume and continuous exposure: Use of this app and associated products may generate high sound pressure levels (SPL) that may cause hearing damage. Avoid exposure to high volumes.

The appearance of individual menu items may vary slightly depending on the software version.

The MAILA App is primarily designed to configure a MAILA system BEFORE an event. After configuration, deactivate Bluetooth in the MAILA devices via the app to prevent third-party access and ensure connection stability during an event (avoiding interference from mobile phone radiation, radio microphones, W-DMXTM, etc.).

STAGE Configuration

Tap the list icon ? on the left to open the device list.

The device list displays ONLINE devices found in your network and offline devices (PLANNING) for planning purposes. Tap the identification LED ? of a desired device in the online list to visually indicate it. The LED on the front of the device will light up, and its display will turn white with the LD logo.

If more devices are online than the list can display, scroll up or down. Drag and drop desired units from the device list onto the central area (STAGE) to add them. Arrange devices as planned for your real setup for better orientation.

Tap REFRESH ? to clear the online list and redisplay online devices not yet on the STAGE.

With offline devices, you can plan your stage and save/load it using the SAVE/LOAD button. To link ONLINE devices with your pre-planned STAGE, drag and drop the ONLINE devices onto your planned offline devices. To remove devices from the STAGE, drag and drop them back into the device list or select them and tap the delete button ?️ in the settings column on the right.

EDIT DEVICES

Tap on a device to highlight it and open the edit column on the right by tapping the gearwheel icon ⚙️.

Here you can specify room dimensions to calculate splay angles, adjust equalizer settings, set delay lines, change the number of satellites or subwoofer presets, and set unit rotation for flying applications.

MULTISELECT

The MULTISELECT function at the top allows you to select and edit multiple units simultaneously. Changes to parameters overwrite existing values. When adjusting volume, the volume ratio between selected units is maintained.

COPY / PASTE

You can copy settings from one device to another (same model) by dragging and dropping the source device onto the target device. A pop-up window allows you to select which parameters to copy.

SAVE / LOAD Presets

Stage configurations can be stored in eight individual presets and recalled later.

To save a preset: Tap SAVE/LOAD ?, tap an empty slot ?, tap SAVE, enter a name, and confirm with Done. Tap Cancel to abort.

To recall a preset: Tap the desired preset, then tap LOAD.

To rename a preset: Tap the desired preset, then RENAME, enter the new name, and confirm with Done. Tap Cancel to abort.

To delete a preset: Tap the desired preset, then DELETE ?️, and confirm with DELETE or CANCEL.

Tap the X icon to close the PRESET window.

CLEAR ALL

To remove all devices from the stage, tap CLEAR ALL and confirm with NEW or CANCEL.

IDENTIFICATION LED

Tap the identification LED ? to visually indicate the selected device. The LED on the front of the unit lights up, and the display turns white with the LD logo.

WIRELESS CONNECTION

The wireless connection is automatically established when switched-on devices are within range. This connection is for setup only and should not be used during an event. After setup, deactivate wireless transmission on the device or via the app using the Bluetooth button ? (tap and confirm). Note: After deactivation via the app, Bluetooth can only be reactivated on the device itself.

LOCK FUNCTION

The lock function protects all units against unauthorized access by setting a PIN. The lock function prevents direct access to devices; operation via the app remains possible. The PIN can be reset in the app to unlock devices, or entered directly on the devices to unlock them.

SPLAY ANGLES

The MAILA app allows easy calculation and manual setting of satellite splay angles.

Tap the desired device and then SPLAY ANGLES.

Set the desired number of satellites 1 (automatically detected for online units if ON is set in the AUTO DETECT menu item under SATELLITES). Use the left slider to set the height of the bottom edge of the lowest satellite from the audience floor. Use the lower slider to set the distance from the MAILA to the back row of the audience. The optimal splay angles for each satellite are displayed on the right. Adjust these values to the satellites by turning the corresponding handle.

For flying columns or SPAs, tap FLYING ✈️. Set height to the top of the uppermost satellite from the audience floor. The optimal hanging point for the EasyMount MAILA TMB flying bracket is displayed under PICKUP POINT, and the total weight of one column (or SPA) plus satellites under RIGGING WEIGHT.

Use the SEATED switch ? to set the audience type (standing or seated). The intelligent AUTO EQ ?️ automatically equalizes the system based on the number of satellites used, satellite height, audience coverage, and seating. Automatic equalization can be deactivated. AUTO EQ works independently of the fully parametric 10-band equalizer.

PRESET (Subwoofer)

For the subwoofer, select the desired crossover frequency in steps from 60 Hz to 120 Hz. A cardioid preset at 105 Hz is also available.

DELAY

Under DELAY, set the delay time for a delay line using the slider . Values are displayed in meters, feet, and milliseconds. The ambient temperature affects delay time; set the value using the corresponding slider .

To enter a value directly, tap the field showing the current value (e.g., in m, ft, ms, °C, or °F) 3, use the number field that appears 4, and confirm with submit.

EQUALIZER

The equalizer allows processing of up to 10 frequency bands and can be switched ON or OFF as a whole 1. Bands 1 and 10 can be switched between "bell" and "shelf" 2. Each band can be switched ON and OFF separately 3.

Adjust FREQUENCY and GAIN by tapping and sliding the desired frequency band 4. Adjust the Q-factor by pinching & zooming 5. For fine adjustments, tap the desired value in the frequency band line and change it using the slider or the + or - symbols 6.

Copy EQ settings from one device to another (COPY/PASTE) 7. Tap RESET ↩️ to reset current EQ settings.
