- Port LED: Indicates port activity. When a Port LED is on or flashing, it signifies connection status.
- On: Connected to a device but no data activity.
- Flashing: Transmitting or receiving data.
Port Status Indicators:
- Left LED (10G/5G): Green indicates 10 Gbps connection; Amber indicates 5 Gbps connection.
- Right LED (2.5G/1G/100M): Green indicates 2.5 Gbps connection; Amber indicates 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps connection.
Features a 10 Gbps RJ45 Port.
Rear Panel
The rear panel includes a Kensington Security Slot, a Power Socket, and a Grounding Terminal.
Note: Images in this guide are for demonstration only and may differ from the actual product.
Installation
Method 1: Desktop Installation
Place the switch on a flat, stable surface with its bottom facing downwards. The device has feet for stability and a notch on the bottom.
Method 2: Rack Installation
Use the provided rack-mounting brackets and screws to secure the switch into a standard 19-inch equipment rack.
Connection
Connect the AC power cord to the switch's power socket and then to an AC outlet. Connect a router's LAN port to one of the switch's Ethernet ports (e.g., a 10G port). Connect other network devices such as NAS/Servers, Workstations, Gaming Computers, 8K Video devices, or Wi-Fi 6 Access Points to the remaining Ethernet ports (1-8), utilizing the 2.5G and 10G ports as needed.
Installation Notes:
- Ensure 5 to 10 cm gaps around the devices for adequate air circulation.
- Avoid placing heavy objects on the device.
- Place the device with its bottom surface facing downwards.
- When mounting multiple devices in a rack, install them sequentially from the bottom to the top, ensuring sufficient clearance between devices for heat dissipation.

Safety Precautions
To prevent device damage and personal injury from improper use, observe the following:
- Keep the power off during installation.
- Wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap with good skin contact and proper grounding.
- Use only the power cord provided with the switch.
- Ensure the supply voltage matches the specifications on the rear panel.
- Install the switch in a well-ventilated environment; do not block ventilation holes.
- Do not open or remove the switch cover.
- Before cleaning, cut off the power supply. Clean with a dry cloth; do not use liquid cleaners.
- Place the device with its bottom surface downward.
Lightning Protection
Lightning can generate extremely high voltage currents that can damage electronic devices. Implement effective lightning protection measures:
- Ensure the rack and the device are well earthed.
- Verify the power socket has good ground contact.
- Maintain a reasonable cabling system to avoid induced lightning.
- Use a Signal Surge Protective Device (SPD) for outdoor wiring.
Note: For detailed measures, refer to the Lightning Protection Guide on the TP-Link website: www.tp-link.com/us/configuration-guides/lightning_protection_guide.
Site Requirements
Temperature/Humidity
Maintain appropriate temperature and humidity levels in the equipment room. Deviations can affect insulation, cause leakage, alter mechanical properties, and lead to corrosion. High temperatures can accelerate aging of insulation materials, reducing service life. Refer to the table for optimal conditions:
Environment | Temperature | Humidity |
---|---|---|
Operating | 0°C to 50°C | 10% to 90% RH Non-condensing |
Storage | -40°C to 70°C | 5% to 90% RH Non-condensing |
Clearness (Static Electricity)
Dust accumulation can lead to poor contact. While the device has static electricity prevention measures, strong static discharge can damage internal components. To avoid this:
- Dust the device regularly and keep the indoor air clean.
- Ensure the device is well grounded to dissipate static electricity.
Installation Site
When installing on a rack or workbench:
- Ensure the rack or workbench is flat, stable, and sturdy enough to support at least 5.5 kg.
- The rack or workbench must have a good ventilation system.
- The equipment room should be well ventilated.
- The rack must be well grounded.
- Keep the device less than 1.5 meters away from the power socket.
Electromagnetic Interference
External interferences can affect electronic components. Minimize interference by:
- Using a power supply that effectively filters power grid interference.
- Keeping the device away from high-frequency and strong-current devices (e.g., radio transmitting stations).
- Using electromagnetic shielding if necessary.
