Window Kit Installation
Follow these steps to install the window kit:
- Measure the window opening.
- Assemble sliders as necessary. If the opening is less than a single slider's minimum length, use the slider with a hole and cut it to size, ensuring not to cut the end with the hole.
- Secure the window sliders at the correct length using the bolts.
- For sliding windows, assemble the exhaust adapter module using the exhaust connector screw. Note that the window slider is eccentric, so the exhaust adapter must be installed away from the wall. For vertical installation, module B can be omitted.
- Gently rotate the exhaust hose backward and pull it away from the wall.
- NOTE: To ensure proper functioning, do not overextend or bend the hose. Ensure 20" clearance around the air outlet of the exhaust hose.
- Installation Methods:
- Hung Window or Sliding Window Installation:
- Cut and attach adhesive foam seals A and B to the window frame.
- Insert the window slider kit into the window opening and close the window to secure it.
- Cut non-adhesive foam seal C to match the window's dimensions and insert it between the panes to prevent air entry.
- Optionally, install the security bracket with screws.
- Attach the air outlet adapter to the exhaust hose and rotate to secure. For sliding windows, attach the exhaust adapter to the exhaust hose.
- Attach the air outlet adapter to the window slider kit. For sliding windows, attach the exhaust adapter to the window slider kit.
Control Panel and Operation
Control Buttons
- Up and Down buttons: Adjust set temperature (1°F / 1°C increments) or timer hours (0 - 24 hours). To convert between Fahrenheit and Celsius, press and hold both buttons for 3 seconds.
- Fan: Press to change fan speed (Continuous, Auto, Low, Medium, High). In Auto and Dry modes, fan speed control is disabled. Press and hold to select continuous fan speed.
- Sleep Mode: Press to activate Sleep mode. Press again to stop. Not available in FAN or DRY mode.
- Filter: Press SLEEP button for 3 seconds to clear the clean filter light reminder.
- Power: Press to turn the air conditioner on and off.
Modes of Operation
- Cooling Mode: Cools and dehumidifies the room. The compressor starts in approximately 3 minutes. The exhaust hose must be connected. Temperature range: 60°F / 16°C to 86°F / 30°C. Features a 5°F temperature cushion where the unit runs on fan only if the set temperature is within 5°F of the ambient temperature.
- Dry (Dehumidifying) Only Mode: Dehumidifies the room. Compressor activates intermittently. Fan speed is set to LOW. Exhaust hose venting is optional; if vented, cooling may occur. If not vented, more frequent draining may be required. No humidistat available.
- Automatic Mode: Automatically selects cooling, heating*, or fan-only operation based on selected temperature and room temperature. Fan speed is automatically selected. (*ARC-1230WNH model only).
- Heat Mode (*only for ARC-1230WNH): Heats the room using a heat-pump principle. Compressor starts in approximately 3-5 minutes. Temperature range: 60°F - 86°F / 16°C - 30°C.
- Fan Only Mode: Circulates air in the room. Temperature cannot be set. Venting the exhaust hose is optional.
Timer Function
Enables delayed switch ON or OFF. Set delay time using UP/DOWN buttons (0.5-hour increments up to 10 hours, then 1-hour increments up to 24 hours). To cancel, turn off the unit or set time to 0.0.
I SENSE Function
The remote control acts as a remote thermostat. Press the I SENSE button on the remote. The remote sends temperature signals every 3 minutes. The feature cancels if no signal is received for 7 minutes. Not available in DRY and FAN modes. Remote must be within 26 feet.
Sleep Mode
Gradually increases set temperature (cooling) or decreases (heating*) over 1 hour, then maintains the new temperature for 7 hours. Conserves energy and reduces noise. Not available in FAN or DRY modes. (*ARC-1230WNH model only).
Auto Restart
In case of a power outage, the unit restarts with previous settings when power is restored.
Controlling Air Flow Direction
Press the SWING button for Auto-Swing. Press again to fix the louvers at a desired angle.
Clean Filter Reminder
The FILTER light illuminates after 250 working hours. Clean the filter and press SLEEP for 3 seconds to clear the reminder.
Noise Level
Normal operating sounds include pulsating compressor sounds, splashing water, gurgling refrigerant, and fan noise. Sounds may seem louder due to hard surfaces.
Compressor Lock Out
The unit is optimized for 64°F - 90°F ambient temperature. A 3-minute time delay prevents overheating and circuit breaker tripping when turned on/off quickly.
Error Codes
- E1: Room temperature sensor error. Unplug and restart.
- E2: Evaporator sensor error. Unplug and restart.
- E3: Condenser sensor error. Unplug and restart.
- E4: Display panel sensor error. Unplug and restart.
- P1: Water reservoir full. Drain water from the unit.
Drainage Options
- A. Continuous Gravity Drain: Connect a drain hose to the lower drain port.
- B. Continuous Gravity Drain: Connect a drain hose to the upper drain port.
- C. Heat pump drainage (for ARC-1230WNH only): Remove the heat pump drain plug and install the drain hose to pump water out during HEAT Mode. The condensate pump only engages in Heat mode. Attach the drain hose adaptor and use a zip tie to secure it, reducing pump drain noise.
Care and Maintenance
- Unit Cleaning: Unplug before cleaning. Use a lukewarm damp cloth and neutral detergent. Dry with a lint-free cloth. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or wash directly under a tap.
- Air Filter: Clean every two weeks. Vacuum or tap lightly to remove dust. Rinse under warm running water (max 100°F). Dry thoroughly before re-inserting.
- Long-Term Storage: Drain all water. Run on Fan mode for half a day to dry. Unplug, wrap the cord. Remove remote batteries. Clean and reinstall the filter. Store in a cool, dark place.
Troubleshooting
- Unit does not turn on: Check power, circuit breaker, voltage, power cord, and LCDI plug. Drain water if P1 error is displayed.
- Compressor does not turn on: Ensure Cooling mode is active, allow 3 minutes for compressor start-up, check set temperature, and drain water if P1 error is displayed.
- Airflow is weak or not cold: Clean the filter, ensure proper clearance for air intake/exhaust, set to Cooling mode, and increase fan speed.
- Room not cold enough: Close windows/doors, minimize people in the room, reduce direct sunlight, and consider additional cooling if the room is too large or has heat-producing appliances.
- Unit is noisy: Ensure the unit is level and on a stable surface. Check power voltage.
- Unit leaks water: Ensure the unit is leveled and drain the water tank.
- Fan speed cannot be changed: Fan speed differences may be less noticeable when the compressor is on. Test in Fan only mode.
