INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW
Livemix personal mixers provide either stereo or mono output directly on the hardware. It is often desirable to have stereo outputs from a rack unit feed wireless in-ear systems or other external devices. The DA-8 analog output unit connects to the PRO-16/32 to provide 8 stereo outputs via TRS or DB-25 connections that can be assigned to any mix in the system. Once your hardware is setup, all mix assignments are made with SoftRouteTM, built into the Livemix personal mixer touchscreen. This removes tricky physical routing and makes it easy to re-assign mixes when necessary.
Front panel LEDs on the DA-8 indicate a Livemix personal mix is assigned to one of the outputs and can also be used for identification and troubleshooting purposes.
· 16 balanced TRS outputs in stereo pairs · Easy setup with SoftRouteTM on Livemix personal mixer touchscreens · Front panel LED indicators · High quality audio conversion · External 24VDC power supply
ANATOMY OF THE DA8
1. POWER This switch turns power on/off.
2. DATA LIGHT This light will illuminate green when the DA-8 has a valid connection and is receiving data from a Livemix Pro-16/32. If this light is red, it is an indication that the connection to the PRO-16/32 is not functioning properly. When illuminated yellow, this is an indication that there are audio or communication issues.
3. STEREO MIX OUTPUTS These lights give you a visual indication that a Livemix Pro personal mix is assigned to one of the stereo outputs. A green light indicates a mix is assigned. These LEDs can also be used for identification and troubleshooting purposes. Flashing indicates the SoftRouteTM Output ID function is active.
4. TRS OUTPUTS 16 balanced TRS connections in eight stereo pairs for connecting to external devices like wireless in-ear transmitters, powered monitors, snakes, etc.
5. DB25 OUTPUTS Each DB-25 connector carries eight separate channels of balanced, +4dBu audio signals, using a single multi-pin connector. DB-25 connections can also be secured using screws available on the connector.
The DB-25 connectors follow the TASCAM format. See Wiring Diagram in this document for pin output configuration.

6. DA8 INPUT Connect the DA-8 input to the FIRST or SECOND DA-8 output on a Livemix Pro-16/32. Connect directly to the Livemix Pro16/32 DA-8 Output only. Connecting to a switch or network may damage the device.
7. POWER SUPPLY Connect the included power supply here. Only use the power supply that is supplied with your PRO-16/32. The PRO-16/32 is supplied with a 24V / 5A power supply. Contact support for a replacement power supply if necessary.

SETUP DIAGRAMS
CONNECTING THE DA8 TO THE PRO-16/32 Connect a Livemix Pro DA-8 analog output unit to the Livemix Pro-16/32 by attaching a SHIELDED (required) CAT-5e or CAT6 cable from the port labeled FIRST DA-8 on the PRO-16/32 to the DA8 INPUT on the back of the Pro DA-8.
A direct connection between the DA-8 and PRO-16/PRO-32 is required. The system will not function with a switch or hub. Connecting to a switch or hub may cause damage to the device.

CONNECTING 2 DA8S TO THE PRO-16/32 When connecting two Livemix Pro DA-8 analog output units to the Livemix Pro-16/32, attach a SHIELDED CAT-5e or CAT6 cable from the port labeled FIRST DA-8 on the PRO-16/32 to the DA8 INPUT on the back of the first Pro DA-8. Connect a second SHIELDED CAT-5e or CAT6 cable from the port labeled SECOND DA-8 on the PRO-16/32 to the DA8 INPUT on the back of the second Pro DA-8 unit.

CONNECTING EXTERNAL DEVICES Use the 1/4" TRS jacks to connect to wireless transmitters or other stereo devices. The DB-25 connectors carry the same audio signals and can be used to connect to mixers or other multi-channel devices. NOTE: For external devices that only have mono inputs, change the Livemix mix output to BALANCED MONO mode after assigning the mixes. This will send the same mono signal out of both TRS jacks for the assigned output.
7

SETUP AND OPERATION
Use the SoftRouteTM function on a connected Livemix Pro Duo/Solo/Solo MD to route mixes to the Stereo Mix Outputs.
ASSIGNING MIXES TO OUTPUTS
SOFTROUTE MIX TOOLS > SETTINGS (GEAR) > SOFTROUTE SoftrouteTM is used to route personal mixes to the analog outputs of connected Livemix Pro DA-8 analog output units.
NOTE: Softroute can easily switch between mixes and outputs. For example, someone may have a guitar mix on a Livemix Pro DUO Mix A and a keyboard mix on Mix B. With Softroute, the mix sent to a wireless transmitter can be switched seamlessly. The same performer can get a guitar mix switched to a keys mix remotely.
A single DA-8 has 8 stereo output ports. A Livemix Pro-16/32 can connect to two DA-8 units for a total of 16 stereo outputs.
The Softroute screen shows each of the potential 16 outputs in the main window.
SOFTROUTE CELL LEGEND The SoftRoute cells are arranged with the first 8 cells dedicated to the DA-8 connected to the "FIRST DA-8" port on the back of a Livemix Pro-16/32. The second 8 cells are dedicated to the "SECOND DA-8" port.
The SoftRoute cells contain the following information: · DA-8 unit (first or second) and the Output (1-8) · Assigned MIX NAME · Assigned MIX PORT
IDENTIFY OUTPUT PORTS SoftRoute's OUTPUT ID function will flash the front panel ID of the selected output port and emit a test tone from the outputs. This allows users to quickly identify which device (like a wireless transmitter) is connected to which output jacks without tracing cables in the back of a rack.
To identify output ports: · Select the DA-8 and output port to identify by selecting the desired cell. · Press Output ID in the right hand menu area. The selected output indicator LED will flash on the DA-8 and a test tone will be audible if the output is connected to a device, usually a wireless in-ear monitor transmitter. · Continue to select DA-8 output ports to identify other units.

ROUTE MIXES TO OUTPUTS To assign a mix to a DA-8 output:
· Select the DA-8 unit and output port by selecting the desired cell.
· PRESS the ASSIGN MIX button in the right hand menu area. · Select which Livemix Pro personal mixer port to assign to the
output. · Repeat for other mixes.
To unassign a mix from an output: · Select the cell with the mix to unassign. · PRESS the UNASSIGN MIX button in the right hand menu area.
FIRMWARE UPDATES
To update the Livemix Pro DA-8, navigate to the Version Info screen (MIX TOOLS > SETTINGS (GEAR) > UTILITIES > VERSION INFO) on a Livemix Pro Duo/Solo/Solo MD.
UPDATE DA-8 UNITS To update Livemix Pro DA-8 units, press the UPDATE DA-8 btutton. You will be prompted to enter a USB Flash Drive with the firmware update into the front panel USB port on the connected Livemix Pro-16/32. If two DA-8 units are connected, both will be updated.
1. Download the latest firmware from http://www.digitalaudio.com/ support.
2. Unzip the firmware zip file and copy the LMUPDATE folder to the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive. Please make sure the LMUPDATE folder is not inside another folder and is in the "root" of the USB flash drive.
3. Insert the USB Flash Drive into the front panel USB port on the PRO-16/32. 4. Press the UPDATE DA-8 button. 5. On the confirmation screen, Press YES to begin the update. If you do not want to update, press NO. 6. Confirm that the USB Flash Drive is inserted when prompted.
