Hama WiFi Neon LED Strip 5m: Operating Instructions and Setup Guide

Introduction

Thank you for choosing a Hama product. Please read these instructions and information completely. Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you sell the device, please pass these operating instructions on to the new owner.

1. Explanation of Warning Symbols and Notes

2. Explanation of Symbols Used on the Product Label

Non-dimmable: The lamp is not suitable for use with a conventional dimmer.

Electrical device of safety class II: Protection against electric shock thanks to reinforced or double insulation of live parts.

4. Safety Instructions

• The product is intended for private, non-commercial use only.
• Use the product only for the intended purpose.
• Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any major shocks.
• Only use the article under moderate climatic conditions.
• Do not operate the product outside the power limits given in the specifications.
• Do not use the product in the packaging or in a rolled-up state.
• Do not modify the product in any way. Doing so voids the warranty.
• Children must not play with the device. Children may not clean the product or perform user maintenance without supervision.
• Dispose of packaging material immediately in accordance with the locally applicable regulations.
• Do not use the product in areas in which electronic products are not permitted.
• Do not bend or crush the cable. Take care not to kink the product. This can cause damage to the product.
• Do not attempt to service or repair the product yourself. Leave any and all service work to qualified experts.
• The product must only be operated on a supply network as described on the type plate.
• Do not open the device or continue to operate it if it becomes damaged.
• Not suitable for operation with dimmers, electrical switches, photo cells, time switches or twilight switches.
• As with all electrical products, this device should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Route all cables so that there is no risk of tripping.
• Always pull directly on the plug when disconnecting the cable, never on the cable itself.
• The device may only be operated on a 230 V 50 Hz AC voltage network. Work on the 230 V network must only be carried out by an electrician certified in your country. The applicable accident prevention regulations must be adhered to.
• To avoid an electric shock from the device, please disconnect the mains voltage (switch off the automatic circuit breaker). Failure to comply with the installation instructions can cause fires or other hazards.
• The light source for this light is replaceable.
• The adapter for this light can be replaced.
• Never look straight into the light source and do not aim its beam of light straight into the eyes of other people or animals. This could damage your/their eyes.
• Do not open the product and do not operate it if it is damaged, if smoke, a strange smell or loud noises are coming from it. Immediately contact your dealer or our service department.
• Do not use the product if the AC adapter, the adapter cable or the mains cable are damaged.
• Do not attempt to service or repair the product yourself. Leave any and all service work to qualified experts.
• Only operate the product from an approved socket that is connected to the public power supply. The socket must be installed close to the product and must be easily accessible.
• Disconnect the product from the power supply using the On/Off switch – if this is not available, unplug the power cord from the socket.
• If using a multi-socket power strip, make sure that the total power consumption of all connected devices does not exceed the socket strip's maximum throughput rating.
• If you will not be using the product for a prolonged period, disconnect it from mains power.

5. Product Characteristics

This smart light is useful for accent lighting, effect lighting or for creating personal lighting atmospheres. You can choose from 16 million different colours. Other setting options include: Switching On/Off and stepless dimming.

The following voice commands can be used with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant:

• Switch On / Off: "Alexa / OK Google, switch the light on / off."
• Dim to X %: "Alexa / OK Google, reduce the light to X %".
• Colour choice: "Alexa / OK Google, switch the light to blue." (or red, green, etc.)

6. Commissioning

To set up your Hama WiFi Neon LED Strip:

1. Download the Hama Smart Home app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
2. Open the Hama Smart Home app.
3. If you are a new user, register and create an account. If you already have an account, log in with your access details.
4. Connect the LED strip to a properly installed socket (IP44 or higher).
5. The LED strip should start to flash quickly. If it does not, disconnect and reconnect the power supply three times in succession.
6. Open the app and sign in.
7. Press the [+] icon in the top right-hand corner to add a new device.
8. Choose "Lamps" from the list.
9. Enter your WiFi password and confirm by tapping "Next".
10. Confirm that the lamp is flashing quickly by ticking "Next step" and then tapping "Next".
11. Your light is now connected. Once connected, the light will stop flashing quickly, and the app will confirm the connection. You can then assign a custom name to your light.
12. Tap "Finish" to complete the process. You can now control the light via the app.

7. Setting Options

The following settings can be made in the Hama Smart Home app:

• White: Open the Light settings tab.
• Colour: Open the RGB colour settings tab.
• Static: Open the Static colour scenes tab. Customised light settings can be stored and selected with a button press.
• Dynamic: Open the dynamic colour scenes tab. Customised, multi-coloured light settings can be stored and selected with a button press.
• Music: Open the Music controls tab. Music response can be enabled or disabled here.
• Settings: Set the length of the dynamic light effect (e.g., 30 = total length of the product).
• Colour slider: Set the desired colour.
• Brightness slider: Set the desired brightness.
• Contrast: Set the desired contrast.
• Timer: The light will automatically switch on or off after the set time has elapsed.
• On/Off switch: Switch the light on or off with a button press.
• Timeline: Create time-controlled programmes.

For extended usage options, scenarios can be created in the app (see Section 8 and App Guide).

8. Extended Usage Options with Scenarios

Scenarios and automated sequences, created in the app's "Smart scenarios" section, allow for many combination and usage options depending on other Smart Home products installed in your home. Programming is done via the app (see Section 4 of the App Guide) and suggestions will be offered individually.

10. RF Exposure Information

This device complies with EU requirements for limiting public exposure to electromagnetic fields for health protection. It complies with RF specifications when used 20 cm away from the body.
