WEEE Information
Important Information for Users of Our Products:
Separate Collection of Old Equipment: Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as old equipment. Owners of old equipment must return it for separate collection from unsorted municipal waste. Old equipment does not belong in household waste but in special collection and return systems.
Batteries and Accumulators as well as Lamps: Owners of old equipment must separate old batteries and accumulators from the old equipment before handing them over to a collection point, provided they are not enclosed within the old equipment. This also applies to lamps that can be removed from the old equipment without damage. If the old equipment is to be prepared for reuse with the involvement of a public-law disposal carrier, batteries, accumulators, and lamps do not need to be removed.
Options for Returning Old Equipment: Owners of old equipment from private households can return it free of charge to the collection points of public-law disposal carriers or to return facilities set up by manufacturers or distributors. Businesses with a sales area of at least 400 m² for electrical and electronic equipment, as well as food businesses with a total sales area of at least 800 m² that offer and market electrical and electronic equipment several times a year or permanently, are obliged to take back old equipment. This also applies to online or catalogue sales if the storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment are at least 400 m² or the total storage and shipping areas are at least 800 m². Distributors must generally ensure take-back through suitable return options within reasonable proximity to the respective end-user. The possibility of returning old equipment free of charge exists with distributors obliged to take back equipment, among other things, when a new, equivalent device that essentially fulfills the same functions is handed over to an end-user. If a new device is delivered to a private household, the equivalent old device can also be handed over there for free collection. This applies to online or catalogue sales for devices of categories 1, 2, or 4 according to § 2 para. 1 ElektroG, namely 'heat exchangers', 'display devices', or 'large appliances' (the latter with at least one external dimension over 50 centimeters). End-users are asked about their intention to return when concluding a purchase contract. Furthermore, there is the possibility of free return at distributor collection points, independent of the purchase of a new device, for small devices that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension, limited to three old devices per device type.
Data Protection Notice: Old equipment often contains sensitive personal data. This is particularly true for information and telecommunications technology devices such as computers and smartphones. For your own interest, please note that each end-user is responsible for deleting data on the old equipment to be disposed of.
Meaning of the Symbol 'Crossed-out Bin' [WEEE Symbol]: The symbol of a crossed-out bin, regularly depicted on electrical and electronic equipment, indicates that the respective device must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
