Router Setup Overview

Follow these steps to configure your Frontier Router. Your technician will guide you on which steps are necessary for your setup.

  1. Locate your existing router and note cable connections.
  2. Move each cable from your old router to the new router, one at a time.
  3. Connect the new router to power using the provided adapter and press the power button.
  4. If you have Frontier® TV service, proceed to step E. New customers should follow the steps below.

Connecting Your Router

A. Connect Router to the Internet

  • DSL Connection: Connect the GREEN phone line cord from the wall jack to the GREEN DSL port on the router.
  • Ethernet Connection: Connect the WHITE Ethernet cable from the wall port to the RED Ethernet port labeled "ONT" on the router.

B. Connect Power

Use the standard power adapter or the Battery Backup Unit (BBU). Plug the adapter into the router's "Power" port and then into a power outlet. Press the "ON/OFF" button on the router.

C. Check for Internet Connectivity

The Internet light on the router should turn solid BLUE. If it does not, consult the troubleshooting section.

Important: Finalize your installation by visiting frontier.com/activate to accept terms of service.

D. Connect Your Phone (Existing Voice Customers)

Connect your phone to the "Phone Line" port on the router using the supplied cord.

E. Sync Your Video (Existing Video Customers)

If "Wireless Pairing Required" appears on your TV, press and hold the WPS button on the router for at least 5 seconds.

Connecting Additional Devices

  • Wired Devices: Connect using an Ethernet cable to any YELLOW Ethernet port on the router.
  • Wireless Devices: Find your Wi-Fi network name and password on the sticker on the bottom of the router. Connect via your device's Wi-Fi settings.

Personalize Your Router

Access your router's settings by opening a web browser and navigating to http://192.168.254.254. You may need the Device Access Code found on the router's bottom sticker.

Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Internet light is not solid.
    • DSL Solution: Ensure the GREEN line cord is connected from the wall to the GREEN DSL port.
    • Ethernet Solution: Verify the WHITE Ethernet cable is connected to the RED "ONT" port, not the YELLOW LAN ports.

    • Ensure you are selecting the correct Wi-Fi network name from the router sticker.
    • Enter the Wi-Fi password accurately (it is case-sensitive).
