2 Content
The package includes the following components:
- 1x Thule Slide Out G2 12V unit
- 4x M8 x 90 mm bolts (DIN 933)
- 8x M8 washers (DIN 125)
- 4x M8 nuts (DIN 985)
- 4x F4.8 x 0.8 mm screws
- 4x 2.9 x 9.5 mm screws (DIN 7981 - TX10 A2)
3 Tools Required
The following tools are recommended for installation:
- Wrench (Size N° 13)
- Drill with 9 mm drill bit
- Drill with 48 mm drill bit
- TX10 screwdriver
4 Installation
Mounting Dimensions:
- Maximum installation height: 300 mm
- Maximum installation depth: 400 mm
- Unit dimensions: 420 mm length, 76 mm height.
- Mounting hole spacing varies, with specific measurements provided for different mounting points (e.g., 10 mm, 27 mm, 57 mm, 92 mm, 127 mm, 162 mm, 231 mm, 312 mm, 332 mm).
- Overall width including mounting brackets: 436 mm (581 mm or 736 mm depending on configuration).
Installation Methods:
There are three primary mounting methods (A, B, C):
- Method A: Involves drilling pilot holes (Step 1) and then securing the unit with screws (Step 2).
- Method B: Similar to Method A, involving drilling and screwing.
- Method C: Also involves drilling and screwing, potentially with a different bracket orientation.
Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the weight of the step and its users.
5 Electrical Installation
Connect the Thule Slide Out G2 12V to the vehicle's 12V DC power supply.
Wiring:
- Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of the 12V power source.
- Connect the black wire to the negative (-) terminal (ground) of the 12V power source.
Installation Steps:
- Secure the control unit using the provided hardware (x4 screws, x1 TX10 driver).
- Install the switch or button mechanism (e.g., a "click" activated component) in a convenient location.
The connection should be made for 2-3 seconds to allow the system to initialize.
Wiring Diagrams
Thule Step with Warning Lamp (or Buzzer):
This setup involves connecting the step to the vehicle's dashboard key switch (S3), a step switch (S2), and a main switch (S1) via a 12V DC battery.
- Key Switch (S3): Controls power to the system, typically via ACC or ON positions.
- Step Switch (S2): Likely a limit or activation switch on the step mechanism itself.
- Main Switch (S1): A primary control switch for the step's operation.
- Battery: A 12V DC main battery powers the system.
- Color Coding: Various wire colors (brown, grey, red, black) are used for connections, with detailed multilingual labels provided for each color.
Thule Step with Optional Relay (308200) for Automatic Retraction:
This configuration adds an optional relay (308200) and a capacitor (2200µF) for automatic retraction functionality.
- The relay is wired into the circuit, controlled by the switches and the key position.
- The capacitor is connected to the relay to manage power for the retraction function.
- Wire colors include purple, orange, grey, and brown, with multilingual labels for each.
6 Open & Close
To Extend the Step:
Press the activation button/switch. The step will extend outwards.
To Retract the Step:
Press the activation button/switch again. The step will retract inwards.
7 Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and proper functioning of the Thule Slide Out G2 12V.
General Cleaning:
- Keep the step clean from dirt, debris, and moisture.
- Avoid using high-pressure cleaners directly on the mechanism.
Lubrication:
- Periodically lubricate moving parts and sliding mechanisms as indicated in the diagrams.
- Ensure the locking pins or securing mechanisms are clean and functional.
Inspection:
- Check for any signs of wear or damage on the step, rails, and electrical connections.
- Ensure all fasteners are tight.
8 Manual Release
In case of power failure or malfunction, the step can be manually operated.
Procedure:
- Locate the manual release mechanism.
- Follow the specific steps shown in the diagrams to disengage the locking mechanism and manually extend or retract the step. This typically involves inserting a pin or tool and manipulating a lever or cable.
9 Accessories
Optional accessories are available to enhance the functionality of the Thule Slide Out G2 12V:
- Electronic control unit (308812): Provides advanced control features.
- Relay for Automatic retraction (308200): Enables automatic retraction functionality when connected.
