Regarding Honeywell KTR 2280 VHF Transceiver Certification

Dear Mr. Leimer:

We have reviewed the Honeywell International Inc. letter dated June 23, 2006, regarding request for certification of the KTR 2280 MMDR; very high frequency (VHF) COM transceiver, with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) ID - No. ASYKTR2280, which operates in the 118-137 MHz VHF band. KTR 2280 is intended for aircraft cabin environment and remotely controlled via an ARINC 429 databus from an integrated display system. Additional capabilities include 8.33 kHz channel spacing. Having received all requested documentation from Honeywell and completed the subject review; we have no objection to the FCC granting certification for the equipment on 25 kHz operations, providing 8.33 kHz channels will not be exercised within the United States national airspace system.

Honeywell International Inc, as all applicants for FCC Certification, should be aware that it is likely that aircraft will employ Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers along with VHF transceivers. It is also likely that without proper filtering of the VHF transceiver harmonic emissions (per draft TSO-C37e), there is a potential for interference to the on-board GNSS receiver.

If you require any additional information, please contact Ms. Annette Allender, Spectrum Planning and International Office, at (202) 267-3893.
