This document provides comprehensive details about the warranties applicable to your 2023 Honda vehicle.
Customer Satisfaction
Honda is committed to ensuring your complete satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with maintenance or repair work, follow these steps:
STEP 1
Discuss your concerns with the dealership's management (Service Manager or General Manager).
STEP 2
If unsatisfied after Step 1, contact Honda Automobile Customer Service. Provide vehicle details (Year, Model, VIN, mileage), dealer information, service history, and contact numbers.
STEP 3
If you disagree with the Customer Service decision, you can request a review by the National Center for Dispute Settlement (NCDS). Contact NCDS at 877-545-0055 or by mail.
Lemon Laws: Many states have 'Lemon Laws' to protect consumers with persistent vehicle problems. Check your state's laws for specific rights and notification requirements.
Repairs Beyond Limited Warranty: Honda may cover some or all costs for repairs not covered by limited warranties on a case-by-case basis. Discuss with your dealer.

General Warranty Provisions
Warranties apply to the owner or lessee of a 2023 Honda distributed by American Honda and sold/leased by an authorized dealer in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.
Warranties do not cover:
- Part failure due to abuse, misuse, accidental damage, acts of nature, improper installation/maintenance, or using non-Honda specified fluids.
- Installation of parts not equal to original quality.
- Use in competition or racing.
- Improper fueling.
- Parts not designed for the specific model year.
- Vehicles with altered odometers.
- Vehicles registered or driven outside the specified territories.
- Failures caused by vehicle modification or unauthorized accessories.
- Incidental expenses or inconvenience.
- Vehicles declared total loss or sold for salvage.
Honda may use factory-remanufactured parts for repairs.
New Vehicle Limited Warranty
Time and Mileage Period: 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage begins on the date the vehicle is delivered or first used.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will repair or replace defective parts under normal use. Replaced parts are covered until this warranty expires.
Does Not Cover: Normal wear, cleaning/polishing, adding fluids (unless for repair), chipped/scratched glass (unless due to defect), cosmetic flaws, expendable maintenance items, tires (covered separately), key fob/remote batteries (first 6 months), wiper blade inserts (first 6 months), wheel balancing/alignment (first year/12,000 miles unless part of repair), A/C refrigerant (first 2 years/24,000 miles unless part of repair).
Powertrain Limited Warranty
Time and Mileage Period: 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Begins same date as New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will repair or replace defective powertrain parts under normal use.
Parts Covered: Engine (block, head, internal parts, timing gears, chain/belt, flywheel, valve covers, oil pan, pump, manifolds, mounts, control module, water pump, fuel pump, seals, gaskets), Transmission/Transaxle (case, internal parts, torque converter, transfer case, control module, seals, gaskets), Front-Wheel-Drive System (housing, internal parts, driveshafts, CV joints, hubs, bearings, seals, gaskets), Rear-Wheel-Drive System (differential housing, internal parts, propeller shafts, U-joints, driveshafts, CV joints, hubs, bearings, seals, gaskets).
Federal Emissions Warranties
These warranties are in addition to the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Applicability: Covers vehicles sold or leased in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.
Your Responsibilities: Operate and maintain the vehicle according to the Maintenance Minder™™ schedule to ensure emissions control systems function properly.
Coverage Denial: Honda will not deny claims for failure to generally maintain the vehicle or lack of records. However, claims for failures due to abuse, misuse, unapproved modification, improper parts, or failure to perform required maintenance affecting the failed part will be denied.
Repairs: Honda recommends using Honda or equivalent parts. Repairs may be done by any qualified repair facility in emergency situations (e.g., authorized dealer unavailable or unable to complete repair within 30 days). Reimbursement for emergency repairs is provided at manufacturer's suggested retail price for parts and geographically appropriate labor rates.
Non-Equivalent Parts: Using non-equivalent replacement parts may impair emissions system effectiveness. Claims may be denied if such parts cause a warranted part failure.
These Warranties Do Not Cover:
- Emissions control system failures due to abuse, alteration, accident, misuse, or leaded/non-approved gasoline.
- Replacement of maintenance items (spark plugs, filters, hoses, belts, coolant, lubricants) beyond first required maintenance.
- Consequential damages (loss of time or use).
Emissions Systems Covered: Crankcase Control, Evaporative/Refueling Emissions Control, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), Exhaust System, Ignition System, Fuel Injection System, OBD System, Transmission Control System, Intake Air System, Valve Control System, Hybrid Powertrain System, Air Conditioning System, Active Grille Shutter, Active Seat Ventilation, High Efficiency Light (LED).
Coverage Duration: 3 years or 36,000 miles, with extended coverage on selected components. Check Emissions Warranty Parts List for details.
California Emissions Warranties
These warranties apply to vehicles registered and driven in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
Manufacturer's Warranty Coverage:
- 3 years or 50,000 miles: Covers failures of emissions-related parts (DEFECTS WARRANTY). Ensures emissions system PERFORMANCE WARRANTY if vehicle fails Smog Check.
- 7 years or 70,000 miles: Covers specific emissions-related parts (long-term DEFECTS WARRANTY).
- SULEV Models: May have 15 years or 150,000 miles coverage for defects.
- High Voltage Battery (if equipped): 10 years or 150,000 miles for defects.
Owner's/Lessee's Responsibilities: Perform required maintenance, retain receipts (though denial solely for lack of receipts is not allowed), and present vehicle for repair promptly. Be aware that coverage may be denied for abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or unapproved modifications.
California Air Resources Board: Contact for information (9528 Telstar Avenue, El Monte, CA 91731).
Maintenance, Replacement, or Repair: Can be done by any automotive repair establishment or individual. Reimbursement for emergency repairs is provided.
These Warranties Do Not Cover: Failures due to abuse, alteration, accident, misuse, or non-approved gasoline; replacement of maintenance items beyond first required service; consequential damages.
Tires
Original equipment tires may have a separate warranty from the manufacturer. Check Honda's website (owners.honda.com) for details.
Obtaining Warranty Service: Your Honda dealer can help determine if a tire is defective and assist in contacting the tire manufacturer's representative.

Seat Belt Limited Warranty
Time Period: 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Begins same date as New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will repair or replace any seat belt component that fails to function properly during normal use.
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
- Replacement of a properly functioning seat belt assembly solely for cosmetic or comfort reasons.
- Failure caused by abuse, alteration, accidental damage, misuse, or collision.
- Components of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS - front airbag) that interact with seat belts (e.g., latch sensor, belt pretensioners, ECU). These are covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Rust Perforation Limited Warranty
Eligibility: Only the original owner or lessee can claim. Coverage is non-transferable.
Time and Mileage Period: 5 years with no mileage limit. Coverage for repaired/replaced panels is limited to the remaining period of the original 5 years.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will repair or replace original body panels that rust completely through from the inside out (perforated by corrosion).
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
- Surface rust on underbody or other parts except body panels.
- Rusting of body panels that were previously repaired, replaced, or refinished, unless done under this warranty.
- Body panel rust caused by abuse, misuse, or lack of maintenance.
- Rusting where paint is damaged by road hazards (stones, debris).
- Rust caused by immersion in water, mud, sand, or exposure to corrosive gas/industrial fallout.
- Paint matching (Honda decides extent of repainting for matching).
Rust caused by a defect in material or workmanship is covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Hybrid Powertrain and High Voltage Battery Capacity Limited Warranties
Hybrid Powertrain Limited Warranty: Applies to all Honda models with hybrid powertrains. In addition to New Vehicle and Emissions Warranties. Refer to Emissions Warranty Parts List for details.
High Voltage Battery Capacity Limited Warranty: In addition to New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Coverage begins same date as New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Continues for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Gradual capacity loss is expected and not covered. Greater than normal degradation is covered.
Accessory Limited Warranty
Applies to Honda Genuine accessories purchased before vehicle purchase through an authorized dealer in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.
Accessories Installed Before Retail Sale: Covered for the length of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (3 years or 36,000 miles).
Accessories Installed by Authorized Dealer After Retail Sale: Covered for the longer of remaining New Vehicle Limited Warranty time or 1 year from installation.
Accessories Not Installed by Authorized Dealer: Covered for 1 year from purchase date.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will repair or replace defective Honda Genuine accessories. If installed by an authorized dealer, parts and labor are covered. If installed by others, parts are covered, but labor is not.
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
- Accessories designed for different models/years.
- Improperly installed accessories.
- Claims without proof of purchase/installation date and mileage.
- Labor costs for accessories not installed by an authorized dealer.
Audio and Video Component Exchange Program: If dealer-installed components have issues, visit your dealer for diagnosis. Honda may use factory-remanufactured components.
Replacement/Remanufactured Parts Limited Warranty
Applies to automobile replacement parts distributed by American Honda and sold through authorized dealers.
Replacement Parts: Covered for 1 year from purchase or duration of New Vehicle Warranty, whichever is longer.
Remanufactured Parts: Installed by authorized dealer: 3 years or 36,000 miles. Purchased from authorized dealer but installed by others: 3 years from purchase.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will repair/replace defective parts. If installed by an authorized dealer, no charge for parts/labor. If installed by others, Honda covers replacement/repair cost, but customer pays labor.
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
- Claims without documented proof of purchase/installation.
- Parts considered normal maintenance items unless defective.
- Parts replaced under New Vehicle Limited Warranty or other warranties.
Replacement 12-Volt Battery Limited Warranty
Time Period: 100-month (8 years 4 months) Limited Warranty.
Warranty Coverage:
- First 36 months: Defective battery replaced at no cost (battery, labor, installation).
- Remaining 64 months: Credit toward purchase of a new 12-volt battery, based on remaining time. No cash reimbursement. Customer responsible for labor/installation charges.
Credit Tiers:
- Months 37-45: 60%
- Months 46-55: 50%
- Months 56-65: 40%
- Months 66-75: 30%
- Months 76-85: 20%
- Months 86-95: 10%
- Months 96-100: 5%
Replacement Exhaust Components Lifetime Limited Warranty
Applies to replacement exhaust components (muffler, A-pipe, B-pipe) distributed by American Honda.
Time Period: Warranted against defects for as long as the purchaser owns the vehicle.
Warranty Coverage: Honda will exchange a failed component with proof of purchase. If originally installed by an authorized dealer, labor for removal/replacement is also covered.
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
- Labor cost for removal/replacement if not originally installed by an authorized dealer.
- Other exhaust system parts (gaskets, hangers, clamps).
- Original equipment muffler, A-pipe, B-pipe, or any replaced during New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.
- Costs for additional repairs associated with warranted components.
How to Get Warranty Service
Take your vehicle, with proof of purchase date, to an authorized Honda automobile dealer during normal service hours. For remanufactured parts or accessories originally installed by a dealer, also bring proof of mileage at installation.
Towing: If your vehicle cannot be driven, contact the nearest authorized Honda automobile dealer for towing assistance. Towing to the nearest authorized dealer is free if the failure is covered by a warranty in this book.
Emergency Repairs: Honda will reimburse repairs at a facility other than an authorized dealer if:
- The repair is normally covered by warranty.
- All authorized dealers within 50 miles were closed, or no dealers were within 50 miles.
- The vehicle was immobile or unsafe to drive.
Reimbursement: Go to any authorized Honda automobile dealer with a copy of the paid receipt and replaced part(s). Reimbursement is for parts at manufacturer's suggested retail price and labor at geographically appropriate rates.
Dissatisfaction: Refer to the Customer Satisfaction section (pages 2-4).
Warranty Coverage Outside the United States
Warranties (except Federal Emissions) cover only Hondas purchased/leased and registered in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. Vehicles registered/driven in other countries are not covered.
Dealers Outside U.S.: May not honor warranties. Contact Honda Automobile Customer Service for assistance if servicing abroad.
Traveling Outside the U.S.: Contact Honda Automobile Customer Service for information on distributors. Check with local tourist bureaus regarding unleaded gasoline availability.
Relocating Outside the U.S.: U.S.-spec Hondas are built to U.S. standards. Modifications for foreign requirements may be expensive or impossible. Parts for foreign specs are not available in the U.S. Servicing in other countries may be difficult due to model differences. Contact Honda Automobile Customer Service for information.
Operation and Maintenance of Your Honda
Proper operation and regular maintenance are key to keeping your Honda in top condition.
Proper Operation:
- Use Honda on designated public roads and highways.
- Avoid exceeding load limits to prevent strain on vehicle systems.
- Operate within legal speed limits.
- Drive regularly.
- Always use unleaded gasoline of the proper octane number without unapproved additives.
Maintenance:
- Check engine oil and radiator coolant levels regularly.
- Maintain your Honda as suggested by the Maintenance Minder™™.
- Parts failing due to lack of proper, timely maintenance are not covered by warranty. However, claims for defects in material or workmanship unrelated to maintenance will not be denied.
Scheduled Maintenance: Can be performed by authorized Honda dealers or other qualified facilities/individuals. Dealerships can track service history.
Limitations and Disclaimers
All Limited Warranties are subject to limitations and disclaimers.
Honda disclaims responsibility for loss of time, use of parts/vehicle, transportation damage, or other incidental/consequential damages. Implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for purpose) are limited to the duration of this written warranty.
Some states may not allow limitations on implied warranty duration or exclusion/limitation of incidental/consequential damages.
These warranties provide specific legal rights, which may vary by state.
