This document provides instructions for upgrading the software on the SHARP PS-919 2.1 Party Speaker System. It details how to determine if your device requires an update and the steps involved in the upgrade process.

Update Eligibility and Contents

Does My Device Need an Updated Firmware?

Only devices with "V1" indicated on their serial number label will benefit from this new update. Devices with "V2" or a higher version on the serial number label do not require firmware updates.

What Changes Are Included in the Update?

The update includes general sound improvements for the PS-919 system.

Checking Your Device Version

To check your device's version, locate the product label, typically found at the bottom of the unit. The serial number format will indicate eligibility:

Serial numbers starting with PS-919BKV01 or PS-919WHV01 are eligible for the update.
Serial numbers starting with PS-919BKV02 or PS-919WHV02 are not eligible for this update.

Preparing the USB Flash Drive

Follow these steps to prepare your USB flash drive:

Use an empty USB flash drive with a maximum capacity of 32GB, formatted as FAT32.
Download the firmware file from the official SHARP consumer website: sharpconsumer.com/audio/ps919bk/. The file is named "PS-919 - Software update".
Unzip the downloaded file and copy the extracted file (which should be named "app.bin") to the root directory of your USB flash drive. Ensure only this single file is present on the drive.

Upgrading the Firmware via USB

Perform the firmware upgrade using the following steps:

Connect the unit to mains power and ensure it remains connected throughout the upgrade process.
Verify that only the "app.bin" file is on the USB drive.
Insert the USB flash drive containing the "app.bin" software file into the USB port located on the back of the unit, under the rubber protector.
The unit will automatically start the upgrade process once the USB is inserted.
After approximately 3 seconds, a prompt tone will sound, and the unit will power off automatically, indicating the upgrade is in progress.
Once the update is successfully applied, safely remove the USB drive from the back of the device.
The device is now ready for use with the updated software.
