Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.

During the installation and use of this electrical equipment, it is essential to follow basic safety precautions, including:

WARNING: This sand filter can only be used with above-ground pools. Do not use with permanently installed pools. An above-ground pool is constructed in such a way that it can be quickly dismantled for storage and reassembled. A permanently installed pool, whether in-ground or above-ground, does not allow for quick dismantling for storage.

ASSEMBLY

(Screwdriver required.)

Step 1: Carefully remove all components from the packaging and check for any damage. If the device is damaged, contact the retailer immediately where the purchase was made.

Step 2: The sand filter must be placed on a flat and even surface, preferably concrete. Position the sand filter to allow for operation, maintenance, and storage of the ports and control valve.

Step 3: According to EN60335-2-41 TEST standard, the sand filter must be securely fixed vertically to the ground or a wooden or concrete base to prevent accidental falls. The weight of the assembled sand filter exceeds 18 kg. The mounting holes must have a diameter of 8 mm and be spaced 285 mm apart. Use two bolts and nuts with a maximum diameter of 8 mm to secure the sand filter to the base.

IMPORTANT: Do not add chlorine to the pre-filter, as it may damage the sand filter. USE ONLY FILTER SAND/POLYSPHERE™ FILTER BALLS.

NOTE: Use only pool-grade filter sand that is free of lime or clay. A 8.5 kg package of No. 20 silica sand (0.45-0.85 mm) should be sufficient. Using unsuitable sand may compromise filtration results and damage the sand filter, voiding the warranty.

NOTE: To avoid damaging the skimmer when adding sand, pour water into the lower tank to submerge the skimmer on the collector's bush.

NOTE: Sand/Polysphere™ filter balls are not included.

NOTE: Use 28g of Polysphere™ filter balls per kilogram of sand.

CONNECT TO THE POOL

Diagram showing connections between the sand filter and the pool, with labels A and B.

DRAINING OR DISCHARGING POOL WATER

Step 1: Turn off the sand filter and set the control valve to the drain position.

Step 2: Disconnect the hose from port A of the pool and port A of the sand filter, and connect it to port D.

NOTE: Remember to replace the debris filters with stop plugs to prevent water from escaping.

Step 3: Turn on the sand filter and operate it to drain the pool water.

ATTENTION: THE SAND FILTER MUST NOT OPERATE DRY.

USE

OVERVIEW OF THE CONTROL VALVE

ATTENTION: To avoid damage to the device or possible injury, always disconnect the sand filter pump before changing the control valve function. Changing the valve positions while the pump is in use can cause injury to people or damage to the product.

How to use the control valve

Push down the control valve handle and rotate to the desired function.

CONTROL VALVE FUNCTIONS

The control valve is used to select the 6 different functions of the filter: Filtering, Closed, Backwash, Rinse, Drain, and Circulate.

Diagrams illustrating the 6 functions of the control valve:

NOTES

AIR RELEASE

Press down the control valve knob and wait for water to flow from port D to release air.

NOTE: It is important to repeat this operation every time the pump is started after the winter season, maintenance, and backwashing the sand bed.

FIRST-TIME USE INSTRUCTIONS

Perform backwashing and rinsing to prepare the pump for first-time use, then wash the sand.

ATTENTION: THE SAND FILTER MUST NOT OPERATE DRY

  1. Press down the control valve handle and rotate to the backwash function.
  2. Apply and operate the sand filter for 3-5 minutes or until the water runs clear.
  3. Turn off the sand filter and set the control valve to the rinse position.
  4. Turn on the sand filter and operate it for 1 minute so that water circulates backward through the sand filter and is discharged from port D.
  5. Turn off the sand filter. Set the control valve to the closed position.
  6. Refill water if necessary.

IMPORTANT: This procedure removes water from the pool, and the water will need to be changed. If the water level is close to the pool's inlet and outlet valves, turn off the sand filter immediately.

  1. Now the sand filter is ready for use. Set the control valve to the filtering function.

NOTE: To avoid the risk of electric shock, dry yourself thoroughly and remove excess water from the sand filter.

  1. To operate the sand filter, turn it on.

NOTE: At this point, the sand filter begins its filtration cycle. Check that water is returning to the pool and note the filter pressure indicated on the pressure gauge. Generally, the recommended sand filter pressure is less than 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI) during operation.

SAND FILTER MAINTENANCE

ATTENTION: To avoid the risk of fatal injury, ensure the sand filter is turned off and unplugged before performing maintenance operations.

As dirt accumulates in the sand filter, the pressure reading on the gauge will increase. When the gauge reads 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI) or higher, or if the water flow to the pool is too weak, the sand needs to be cleaned. To clean the sand bed, follow the instructions previously described under: Backwash and Rinse.

NOTE: The pressure gauge is for maintenance purposes only, and the indicated value is for reference only. The pressure gauge should not be used as a precision instrument.

NOTE: It is recommended to clean the sand bed once a month or less frequently, depending on pool usage. Do not clean the sand too often.

FILTER CLEANING

  1. Disconnect the sand filter and set the control valve to the closed position.
  2. Replace the debris filters with stop plugs to prevent water from escaping.
  3. Unscrew the filter lid to remove it.
  4. Remove and clean the filter.
  5. Reposition the filter, ensuring the holes are aligned.
  6. Check that the O-ring is in place. Screw the filter lid back on.
  7. Remove the stop plugs and insert the debris filters.

NOTE: The filter must be emptied and cleaned regularly. A dirty or blocked filter significantly reduces the performance of the sand filter.

DRAINING OR DISCHARGING POOL WATER

  1. Turn off the sand filter and set the control valve to the drain position.
  2. Disconnect the hose from port A of the pool and port A of the sand filter, and connect it to port D.
  3. NOTE: Remember to replace the debris filters with stop plugs to prevent water from escaping.
  4. Turn on the sand filter and operate it to drain the pool water.

ATTENTION: THE SAND FILTER MUST NOT OPERATE DRY.

STORAGE

In areas with freezing winter temperatures, the pool equipment must be prepared for winter to protect it from damage. Freezing water can damage the sand filter and void the warranty.

  1. Backwash the sand bed.
  2. Drain the pool according to the instructions in its manual.
  3. Disconnect the two hoses from the pool and the sand filter.
  4. Remove all sand from the tank and dry all components.
  5. Store the sand filter in a dry place out of the reach of children.
