Features

Quick Start

Connecting the MediaOne M30:**

  1. Connect the left and right speakers using the included two-conductor, 1/8" (3.5mm) speaker cable.
  2. Turn the MediaOne M30 Volume control counter-clockwise until it clicks to the minimum/off setting.
  3. Connect the MediaOne M30 to an AC power outlet using the included power cable.
  4. Connect the audio output from your audio source (e.g., computer, portable audio device) to the RCA inputs on the right-side speaker.
  5. Turn the Volume control clockwise until it clicks to turn the speakers on. The front panel Power Indicator will light white.
  6. Play music and slowly raise the MediaOne M30 volume to a comfortable listening level.

Powering Up/Down Rule: Always follow the "last on, first off" rule for powered speakers. When powering up, turn on your mixer and other gear first, then your MediaOne M30. When powering down, turn off your MediaOne M30 first, then your mixer and other gear.

Standby Mode: The MediaOne M30 enters Standby mode after 5 minutes of no signal to save power. The Power Indicator will turn off. The speakers will automatically wake up when a signal is present at the inputs.

Adding an Active Subwoofer

To extend the low-frequency response, you can add a powered subwoofer. Set the subwoofer level to match the main speakers. Place the subwoofer ideally between the two main speakers, as deep-bass frequencies are nondirectional.

To connect a subwoofer:

  • Connect your audio source to the left and right RCA Inputs of the MediaOne M30.
  • Connect the MediaOne M30 1/8" STEREO / SUB Output to the left and right line inputs of your active subwoofer.
  • Play music and adjust the MediaOne M30 and subwoofer levels to your preference. The MediaOne M30 front panel Volume control affects the entire system's level.

MediaOne M30 Layout - Powered Speaker (right speaker)

  1. Tweeter: 1" silk dome tweeter set in a custom waveguide.
  2. Low Frequency Driver: 3" woofer with a polypropylene cone and butyl surround for extended low-frequency response.
  3. Power / VOLUME (active): Rotary knob to control output level. Turn clockwise to turn on; turn counter-clockwise until it clicks to turn off.
  4. Headphone Jack: 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo output jack. Monitors mute when headphones are connected.
  5. Power Indicator (active): White LED indicates the unit is powered on.
  6. AUDIO INPUT: Unbalanced, Stereo RCA input connectors (-10 dBV consumer level). Red is for right input, white is for left input.
  7. 1/8" STEREO / SUB OUT: 1/8" (3.5mm) jack outputs stereo full audio to external devices or an active subwoofer.
  8. Bass Boost Switch: Enhances low-frequency response.

MediaOne M30 Layout - Passive Speaker (left speaker)

  1. TO LEFT SPEAKER: 1/8" (3.5mm) jack for connecting the passive left-side extension speaker using the included cable.
  2. AC INLET: Connect the supplied power cable here.
  3. Bass Port: Tuned low-frequency bass port. Do not block.
  4. Speaker Connections: 1/8" (3.5mm) jack for connecting the passive left-side extension speaker using the included cable.

Positioning the Speakers

For the best stereo image, position the MediaOne M30 monitors vertically, with the tweeter and woofer symmetrically aligned. Avoid horizontal placement, which can cause sound offsets. Near-field monitoring is popular due to cost and setup simplicity. Correct placement minimizes room reflection effects, crucial in multi-use project studios.

Minimize reflective surfaces near the monitoring area (e.g., tabletops, glass, walls, console surfaces) to prevent comb filtering. Consider acoustic foam if needed.

Set up a "mix triangle": the distance between the left and right monitors should be equal to the distance from the listener to each monitor, forming an equilateral triangle (approximately 60 degrees).
