Connecting a Device: Phone Pairing

Follow these steps to pair your phone via Bluetooth:

  1. Ensure the vehicle's shifter is in PARK. Press the SETUP button.
  2. Press the BLUETOOTH® icon on the screen, then press BLUETOOTH CONNECTION.
  3. Press ADD NEW. Turn on your phone's BLUETOOTH and select the device (Kona) found by your phone.
  4. If prompted, enter the PASSKEY into your phone.
  5. The vehicle will confirm that your phone has been successfully connected.
  6. The vehicle will confirm that your contacts download is complete.
  7. Select YES if you would like to set your phone as the priority device for Auto Connection.

Note: Bluetooth settings can be found in the SETTINGS app on most phones. Refer to your phone's owner's manual or visit HyundaiBluetooth.com for more information. The display, button, and/or icon locations may differ from the images shown.

Making a Call: Using Voice Commands

Before You Start: Make sure your phone has been paired and your contacts have been downloaded. If not, follow the instructions on the previous pages.

  1. Press the PUSH TO TALK button located on the steering wheel. You will hear a beep.
  2. After the beep, say the command "CALL" followed by the name of the desired contact. Example: "CALL JOHN SMITH".
  3. Select the number you would like to call by saying "ONE" or "TWO".
  4. The selected number will be dialed and your contact's name and phone number will appear on the screen.
  5. To end the call, press the END CALL button located on the steering wheel.

Smartphone Connection: Setting Up Android Auto™/Apple CarPlay®

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay allow you to access the most commonly used smartphone features, including calling, navigation, text messaging, and playing music all from your driver's seat.

  1. Connect a USB cable from your phone to the vehicle's USB data port. Notice the icon displayed on your screen.
  2. Allow permission from your phone to connect to your vehicle.
  3. Enjoy using the applications displayed on your vehicle's multimedia screen.

Note: Android Auto users will be prompted to view a tutorial. Select your option and proceed. *USB data port will typically be located in or near the front in-dash console. Check your vehicle's owner's manual for specific location. Apple CarPlay is a registered trademark of Apple Inc. Android Auto is a trademark of Google Inc.

To end a call using these features, press the END CALL button located on the steering wheel.

Custom Button: Initial Setup/Reassign Feature

The Custom Button ⚙️ can be used to quickly access your favorite feature with just the touch of a button.

Initial Setup

  1. Press the CUSTOM BUTTON.
  2. Select from the listed options to set as your custom button. For example, select PHONE.

Reassign Feature

  1. Press and hold down the CUSTOM BUTTON for 2 to 3 seconds.
  2. Select from the listed options to set as your custom button. For example, select HOME.
