3. Precautions
- Use a safe charger with 5V output and ≥500mA current for charging. The company is not responsible for accidents caused by the charger.
- Ensure the detection area is dry before starting. Do not expose the detector to direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Wait for the detector's temperature to stabilize if exposed to extreme temperature differences.
- Avoid using or operating transmitting equipment like microwave ovens near the detector, as it can affect detection results.
- Detection results can be influenced by environmental factors such as strong magnetic fields, moisture, metallic building materials, or highly conductive wallpapers.
- Before penetrating walls (drilling, nailing), check for electrical, gas, or water pipes and turn off relevant supplies.
- For best scanning, avoid wearing jewelry. Move the tool evenly on the wall surface without lifting or changing pressure.
- When detecting foreign objects, maintain constant contact with the wall surface.
- Ensure fingers do not touch the scanned surface or the detector.
- Always move the detector slowly for maximum accuracy and sensitivity.
4. Detection Types and Use
4.1 Detection of Metal Objects (Rebar, Wires, Copper Pipes)
Basic Information and Operation
The detector defaults to "metal detection" mode. A signal indicates calibration is needed. To calibrate, lift the detector in an environment free of metal and magnetic interference, then press and hold the "Metal/Cable Detection" button until the signal display returns to zero and the green light turns on.
The maximum detection depth for metal is 120mm. Press the metal detection button to enter this mode; a metal detection pattern and green indicator will appear. Move the detector over the object; signal strength increases as it gets closer and decreases as it moves away. The "Center" icon appears when the object is directly below the center. Yellow or red indicators light up when metal is detected. A flashing red indicator and continuous beeping signal both metal and AC signals. Non-magnetic metal symbols indicate wires or copper pipes; magnetic metal symbols indicate steel bars; no symbol indicates an alloy. A flashing AC symbol indicates a nearby AC signal.
Detection Note
Detection depth accuracy depends on object shape, material, detector position, and surrounding medium. Accuracy is best for standard steel bars or copper pipes with an 18mm diameter.
4.2 Foreign Body (Generally Refers to Wood Material)
Basic Information
Maximum detection depth: Precise mode: 20mm; Depth mode: 38mm. Long press the button to switch modes.
This mode detects objects in gypsum drywall, plywood sheathing, bare wood floors, and coated wood walls. It does not detect objects in concrete, mortar, blocks, bricks, carpets, foil-faced materials, metal surfaces, tiles, or glass. Sensing depth and accuracy vary with moisture, material content, and wall texture.
This mode can also detect metals and other dense materials like water-filled pipes. To identify wood materials, first perform a metal scan to mark metal items, then use foreign object detection mode. Items detected in this mode but not in metal mode may be wooden studs.
Operation Introduction
Press the "Foreign Object Detection" button to enter the mode. Attach the instrument vertically to the wall and briefly press the button for 1-3 seconds for calibration (green light indicates completion). Place the detector on the surface and move it evenly left or right. Signal percentage and boundary icons are displayed as the instrument approaches an object's edge. The "Center" icon appears when the object is centered. A long beep and red light indicate maximum signal. As the instrument moves away, icons disappear. The process is complete when the green light turns on and detection stops.
Kind Tips
- Position accuracy improves with repeated detection.
- A flashing AC symbol and short beep indicate detected foreign objects and alternating current.
- In "Foreign Object Detection" mode, only alternating current detection triggers the AC symbol flash.
- Environmental factors like moisture can cause false alarms. Recalibrate by briefly pressing the foreign object detection button until the green light turns on.
- If calibrated on a wooden surface, move the tool away before re-detecting.
- Moisture in walls or paint can interfere with sensors; wait for the wall to dry.
- For uneven surfaces or difficult wood dowel detection, use metal detection mode to find nails.
- Detect pipes similarly to foreign objects. Follow safety precautions when working on walls, floors, or ceilings.
Detection Note
When a foreign object and alternating current are detected, the AC symbol flashes, and the instrument beeps. In "Foreign Object Detection" mode, only alternating current detection triggers the AC symbol flash.
4.3 Detection of Live Cables
Basic Information and Operation
Maximum detection depth: 50mm (220V@50Hz/110V@60Hz). Press the "Detect Live Cable" button to enter this mode; the AC icon appears. If the signal strength percentage is displayed, reset by pressing and holding the "Detect live cable" button until the display returns to zero and the green light is on.
Move the detector over the object. Signal strength increases as it nears the live cable and decreases as it moves away. The "Center" icon appears when the live cable is directly below the center, accompanied by a yellow or red indicator light and a short beep.
Detection Note
- "Live" wires may not be detected with certainty behind metallized surfaces, metal conduits, or surfaces with high water content/humidity. Concrete, brick, and ceramic surfaces can shield the electric field signal.
- Detection is easier when the AC line is powered on and connected.
- The "live" wire signal spreads, making the alert area larger than the actual wire.
- High humidity or static electricity can cause false alarms. Calibrate by long-pressing the detection cable button until the green light is on and signal strength is zero. If calibration fails, high humidity, static electricity, or strong electromagnetic radiation may be present; wait for conditions to improve or turn off nearby appliances.
- Static electricity can affect detection. Placing your hand on the wall near the detector may help dissipate it.
- Signal strength depends on cable location; take further measurements or use other information.
- Non-"live" wires may be detected as metallic objects. Solid copper cables are detected, but stranded copper cables may not be.
5. Instrument Maintenance
- Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the instrument. Do not use detergents or solvents.
- Do not place labels or nameplates on the detection area on the back sides.
- Use the included protective case for storage and transport.
- Recycle damaged detectors, accessories, and packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner.
