CONFIGURATION
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
A key step before you start measuring is whether you would like your blinds inside the window frames (known as recess fit) or outside (known as face fit).
FACE FIT RECESS FIT
[Visual comparison of window frames for face fit and recess fit installation. Face fit shows blinds mounted outside the frame, covering the architrave. Recess fit shows blinds fitted within the frame.]
MEASURE - FACE FIT
TICK IF FACE FIT [ ]
[Diagram showing measurement points for the width of a window frame's architrave, indicating top, middle, and bottom measurements. An arrow points to the largest measurement.]
MEASURING THE WIDTH
Measure the exact outside width of architrave in three different positions - the top, middle and bottom.
Take the largest measurement.
[Diagram showing measurement points for the drop of a window frame's architrave, from the top to the desired finish point (left, middle, right). An arrow points to the largest measurement.]
MEASURING THE DROP
Measure from the top of the architrave to where you would like the blind to finish in three different positions - the left, middle and right.
Take the largest measurement.
For windows that finish on the floor, we recommend finishing the blind 8mm above the floor.
MEASURE - RECESS FIT
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
There is a minimum depth requirement for venetian blinds.
- 65mm of depth in window for 50mm Tuscany and Aluminium
- 30mm of depth in window for 25mm Aluminium
TICK IF RECESS FIT [ ]
[Diagram showing the side profile of a window recess, illustrating the minimum required depth for blinds. Specific depths are noted for different blind types.]
MEASURING THE DEPTH
Before selecting recess fit, make sure you have the minimum depths for your blind type.
[Diagram showing measurement points for the inside width of a window recess, indicating top, middle, and bottom measurements. An arrow points to the smallest measurement.]
MEASURING THE WIDTH
Measure the exact inside width in three different positions - the top, middle & bottom (do not make deductions).
Take the smallest measurement.
[Diagram showing measurement points for the inside recess height of a window, indicating measurements from the top of the recess to the windowsill (left, middle, right). An arrow points to the smallest measurement.]
MEASURING THE DROP
Measure the exact inside recess height from the top to the bottom of the windowsill in three positions - the left, middle, & right.
Take the smallest measurement.
