Tools and Supplies Required
- Socket (10 and 12 mm)
- Ratchet
- Box-end wrench (12 mm)
- Hex wrench (5 mm)
- Dish soap solution (Water:Dish soap / 100:1)
- Shop towel
- Torque wrench
Torque Chart
Tighten all screws, bolts, and nuts to their specified torque values. Refer to the Service Manual for the torque values of the removed parts.

Installation
CAUTION: To prevent burns, allow the engine, exhaust system, radiator, etc., to cool before installing the accessory.
NOTE:
- Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery before installing this accessory.
- The memory of the clock will be erased when you disconnect the battery. Reset the clock after reconnecting the battery.
- Reinstall the removed parts on the motorcycle and make sure that the wires and harnesses are not pinched.
- Open the left saddlebag lid. Repeat this procedure for the right side.
- Remove the left side cover. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the right side cover, following the same method used for the left side.
- Remove the seat. Disconnect the electrical connector attached to the seat.
- Remove the right and left passenger grips. Disconnect the associated cable.
- Remove the fuse holders located on the left side.
- Remove the left pillion step holder cover. Repeat this step for the right side.
- Open the trunk lid. If necessary, use the emergency trunk cable as described in the Owner's Manual.
- Remove the USB cord. This step is applicable only to GL1800DA models.
- Remove the trunk holder. This step is for GL1800DA models.
- Remove the trunk front lower panel.
- Remove the indicated parts. Repeat the process for the left side.
- Remove the trunk right side cover. Repeat this step for the left side.
- Disconnect the 2-pin waterproof connector and remove the trunk center lower cover.
- Disconnect the trunk catch harness. Remove the emergency trunk cable.
- Remove the trunk catch.
- Remove the emergency trunk cable from the trunk catch assembly.
- Remove the clips on the left side. Repeat this procedure for the right side.
- Remove the rear fender. Disconnect the electrical connector attached to the fender.
- Remove the saddlebag rear center cowl.
- Remove the indicated parts on the right side. Repeat the procedure for the left side.
- Remove the screw. Repeat this step for the left side.
- Remove the screws on the right side.
- Adjust or move the right saddlebag catch.
- Remove the radio antenna.
- Remove the emergency trunk cable.
- Install the radio antenna, reversing the removal steps.
- Remove the emergency trunk cable.
- Apply a dish soap solution to the designated area, typically for lubricating a hole plug during installation.
- Install the hole plug.
- Install the right saddlebag catch, reversing the removal steps.
- Remove the USB cord. This step is applicable only to GL1800DA models.
- Install the jack cap. This step is applicable only to GL1800DA models.
- Disconnect the 12-pin black waterproof connector.
- Install the 12-pin waterproof dummy connector.
- Disconnect the 2-pin black waterproof connector on the right side.
- Install the 2-pin waterproof dummy connector.
- Remove the indicated bolts and washers.
- Remove the trunk assembly.
- Move the right and left saddlebags and remove the associated stay.
- Install the left luggage stay. Ensure that the motorcycle's wiring harness is not caught or too tight. Route the harness through the luggage stay guide. Repeat this installation for the right side.
- Install the rear cross plate using the specified bolts, nuts, and collar.
- Install the right and left saddlebags, reversing the removal steps.
- Install the saddlebag rear center cowl, rear fender, and right and left passenger grips, reversing the removal steps.
- Install the grommets at the indicated positions.
- Install the center rear top cover.
- Install the clips and 5 mm screws.
- Install the right and left rear top lids.
- Reinstall all removed motorcycle parts in the reverse order of removal. Ensure that no wiring harness is caught or too tight.
