Basic Operation & Features
Essential for optimal performance is a quality branded Class 10 or U1 type Micro SD card. Your Nextbase™ Dash Cam records video in manageable 1-minute files, automatically deleting the oldest to make space for new recordings. A 16GB card typically stores 1.5 hours of footage.
Adjust the time in the Setup Menu (Time & Date) to account for time differences from GMT.
Camera Modes:
- Video Mode: Default mode for recording.
- Photo Mode: For taking still photographs.
- Playback Mode: To view recorded content on the Dash Cam screen.
Automatic Start / Stop Technology:
The Dash Cam automatically powers on when power is available (e.g., ignition on) and performs an automatic shutdown when power is cut off.
Tips for Best Video Footage
- Position the Dash Cam centrally on the windscreen, ideally behind the rear-view mirror.
- Ensure the windscreen area viewed is clear of dirt and within the wiper zone.
- Angle the camera towards the road, reducing the amount of sky to avoid underexposure.
- Remove dashboard clutter that could cause reflections.
- Consider a Nextbase™ Polarising Filter to improve dash glare.
Tips for Stable Memory Card Performance
- Periodically format the memory card (every 2-3 weeks) after backing up important files.
- Format your memory card using the Dash Cam for optimal structure.
- Always switch off the Dash Cam before removing the SD memory card to prevent damage.
