Connections to be Made
From the 16-pin harness with stripped leads to the aftermarket radio:
- Connect the Red wire to the accessory wire. (If installing ASWC-1 or AX-LCD, connect the (2) Red wires from the GMOS-LAN-012 harness as well).
- Connect the Orange/White wire to the illumination wire. (If the aftermarket radio has no illumination wire, tape off the Orange/White wire).
- Connect the Blue/White wire to the amp turn on wire (this wire must be connected to hear sound from the factory amplifier).
- Connect the Brown wire to the mute wire of the aftermarket radio. If the radio has no mute wire, tape it off and disregard it.
- Connect the White wire to the left front positive speaker output.
- Connect the White/Black wire to the left front negative speaker output.
- Connect the Gray wire to the right front positive speaker output.
- Connect the Gray/Black wire to the right front negative speaker output.
For digital amplifier equipped vehicles:
- Connect the Green wire to the left rear positive speaker output.
- Connect the Green/Black wire to the left rear negative speaker output.
- Connect the Purple wire to the right rear positive speaker output.
- Connect the Purple/Black wire to the right rear negative output.
For aftermarket multimedia/navigation radio outputs:
- Connect the Light Green wire to the parking brake wire, if applicable.
- Connect the Blue/Pink wire to the speed sense wire (V.S.S.), if applicable.
- Connect the Green/Purple wire to the reverse wire, if applicable.
From the GMOS-LAN-012 harness:
- Connect the Black wire to the ground wire.
- Connect the Yellow wire to the battery wire.
- If installing ASWC-1 or AX-LCD, connect the (2) Red wires to accessory power.
- The Black/Yellow wire is used for OnStar level adjustment for models without steering wheel controls. See OnStar Level Adjustment for instructions.
- Connect the RCA jacks to the audio AUX-IN (if equipped). This is required to retain factory AUX-IN or satellite radio.
For analog amplified models ONLY:
- Connect the Green wire to the left rear positive speaker output.
- Connect the Green/Black wire to the left rear negative speaker output.
- Connect the Purple wire to the right rear positive speaker output.
- Connect the Purple/Black wire to the right rear negative output.
- Disconnect the 4-pin harness between the 14-pin and 22-pin harness, and connect the supplied 4-pin to 4-pin resistor pad harness.
For non-amplified models ONLY:
- Cut the resistors off from the Green, Green/Black, Purple, and Purple/Black wires below the heat shrink.
- Connect the Green wire to the left rear positive speaker output.
- Connect the Green/Black wire to the left rear negative speaker output.
- Connect the Purple wire to the right rear positive speaker output.
- Connect the Purple/Black wire to the right rear negative output.
- The 4-pin to 4-pin resistor pad harness is not used in this application.
Note: The relay attached to the GMOS-LAN-012 harness is for audible turn signal clicks. Leave the relay as-is.
12-pin pre-wired ASWC-1 harness:
Use with the optional ASWC-1 (not included) to retain steering wheel controls. If not used, disregard this harness. Refer to ASWC-1 instructions for radio connections and programming. Disregard the harness that comes with the ASWC-1.
DIN jack:
Use with the optional AX-LCD (sold separately) to retain satellite radio information for models that do not display this in the driver's information center. The AX-LCD can also view active factory sources (rear seat entertainment, satellite radio, AUX-IN).
From the back-Up camera harness to the aftermarket radio:
- If the vehicle has a factory back-Up camera, connect the Yellow RCA jack to the aftermarket radio's back-Up camera video input.
- Activate the back-Up camera video input on your radio if required.
Installing the GMOS-LAN-012
CAUTION! All accessories, switches, climate controls panels, and especially air bag indicator lights must be connected before cycling the ignition. Do not remove the factory radio with the key in the on position, or while the vehicle is running.
- With the key in the off position, connect the 16-pin harness with stripped leads and the GMOS-LAN-012 harness into the interface.
- If using an ASWC-1 (sold separately), do not connect it until the GMOS-LAN-012 is programmed and fully functional.
- Do not connect the GMOS-LAN-012 harness to the vehicle's wiring harness yet.
Programming the GMOS-LAN-012
The L.E.D. inside the interface is visible when active. The interface does not need to be opened to see the L.E.D.
- Start the vehicle.
- Connect the GMOS-LAN-012 harness to the vehicle's wiring harness. The L.E.D. will initially be Green, indicating power.
- After a few seconds, the L.E.D. will turn solid Red as the interface automatically programs to the vehicle. The radio will shut off during this process (5-30 seconds).
- Once programmed, the L.E.D. will turn solid Green, and the radio will come back on, indicating successful programming.
- Test all functions before reassembling the dash.
- If the interface fails to function, refer to "Troubleshooting".
Adjusting the GMOS-LAN-012
Audio level adjustment (digital amplified models only):
- With the vehicle and radio on, turn the volume up 3/4 of the way.
- Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to adjust the potentiometer clockwise to raise the audio level, or counterclockwise to lower it.
- Adjustment is complete when the desired level is reached.
Chime level adjustment:
- With the vehicle on, turn it off and leave the keys in the ignition. Open the driver's door; chimes will be heard.
- Wait 10 seconds. Use a small screwdriver to turn the potentiometer clockwise to raise the chime level, or counterclockwise to lower it.
- Remove the keys from the ignition to lock the chime volume.
OnStar level adjustment:
- Press the OnStar button to activate it.
- While OnStar is speaking, use the VOLUME UP or VOLUME DOWN buttons on the steering wheel to adjust the OnStar level.
- If the vehicle does not have steering wheel controls, find the Black/Yellow wire on the GMOS-LAN-012 harness.
- While OnStar is speaking, tap the Black/Yellow wire to ground. The OnStar level will be set and remain so until the Black/Yellow wire is tapped to ground again.
