Integriti UniBus 2-Door Expander Installation Manual
Revision 2.4, June 2021
Overview
The Integriti UniBus 2-Door Expander is designed to provide control and monitoring for two additional doors on compatible host modules, such as the ILAM or IAC. A single host module can support up to three UniBus 2-Door Expanders and a total of six UniBus Boards. The system requires power from an Integriti Battery-backed Power Supply. The expander features heavy-duty lock relays, a "DOTL Warning" relay, and open collector auxiliary outputs for "Valid" and "Invalid" indicators. Door contacts and tongue sense inputs can be configured for "Door Forced" and "Door Open Too Long" alarms.
Important Notes
- The host module requires an external power supply. For a module with one UniBus Board, an Integriti 3A Smart Power Supply is recommended. For modules with two or more UniBus boards, an Integriti 3A or 8A Smart Power Supply is recommended. If 2A or 3A supplies are used, a separate battery-backed power supply is advised for lock power.
- For dedicated fuse protection for each lock circuit or 'Lock +/-' input, the switched DC Power Hub (P/N:995916) can be used.
- Ensure that the total current required by UniBus Boards does not exceed the host module power supply's ancillary current limit.
- Compatibility requires Integriti Controller Firmware V3.0 or later, and Integriti Software Version 3.0 or later.
- The standard End-of-Line (EOL) resistor scheme for Integriti products is 2k2 / 2k2. Systems with Controller firmware V3.3.4 or later support 2k2/2k2 and 2k2/6k8 schemes. The 6k8/2k2 scheme is still needed for LAN Modules and UniBus boards connected to Integriti Controllers with firmware prior to V3.3.4.
- Lock Relay Auxiliary Numbers are detailed on page 3.
- Fire Protection: This product must be installed in a suitable non-flammable equipment enclosure, mounted on a non-flammable surface, and kept away from flammable materials. Any unused conduit entry points with removed knockouts must be resealed using conduit plugs.

UniBus Cable Options
Available cable lengths: 996791L: 270mm (Supplied), 996791SS*: 150mm, 996791LL*: 475mm, 996791XL*: 675mm. (*Purchased separately). Note: Custom made UniBus cables are not supported by Inner Range, and any damage caused by them will not be covered under warranty.
Installing the UniBus Board
Installation environment should be maintained at a temperature of 0° to 40° Celsius and 15% to 85% Relative humidity (non-condensing).
- Remove the power, LAN, and battery connections from the Host Module.
- Select a mounting location within the same enclosure as the host module. Connect an appropriate 6-way UniBus cable from the Door Expander connector (P1 or P1a) to the Host Module or an existing UniBus Board, ensuring no strain. Install the appropriate standoffs. Mount the Door Expander Board onto the enclosure chassis using the 6 PCB mounting clips provided.
- Secure the board to the standoffs using the M3 screws.
- Using an Integriti 6-way UniBus cable, connect P1 or P1a to the UniBus connector on the Host Module or the spare UniBus connector on an existing UniBus Board. Refer to Page 3 for notes.
Wiring Diagrams
Zone Input, Button & DOTL Wiring
This diagram illustrates zone input wiring. It shows connections for Normally Closed (NC) contacts like REED and TONGUE sensors, and REX/REN inputs when 'Override EOL' is disabled. It also covers Normally Open (NO) button contacts like ARM buttons, and REX/REN inputs when 'Override EOL' is enabled. The DOTL (Door Open Too Long) relay output is also depicted. End-of-Line (EOL) resistors (2k2 or 6k8) are used for NC and some NO inputs. A 0V reference is provided.
Lock Wiring
This diagram details lock wiring. Terminal T1 is the dedicated power input for lock power, fused and battery-backed. Terminals T2 and T5 are for Lock 1 and Lock 2 relays respectively. Connections are made to NO (Normally Open), COM (Common), and NC (Normally Closed) terminals. A 1N4004 protection diode is shown fitted across the lock terminals (Cathode to +, Anode to -) to protect against voltage spikes. Heavy-duty cable is recommended for power and lock wiring.
Wiegand/Clock & Data Reader Wiring
This section describes reader wiring for Wiegand, Clock & Data interfaces. It details connections for Reader power (+VE, 0V), Data (D0), Clock (D1), Valid (VAL), and Invalid (INV) LED outputs. Specific reader types and their corresponding connections (e.g., Green wire for Data, White for Clock) are listed in a table.
PCB Layout Description
The PCB layout diagram shows the physical arrangement of components and connectors on the UniBus 2-Door Expander board. Key elements include DIPswitch SW1 for address setting, UniBus connectors (P1, P1a), input/output terminals (T1-T7), reader connection terminals (T4, T7), and status LEDs (L1-L7, L12-L13). Terminal functions and LED indicators are labeled.

Reader Wiring (T4 & T7)
Note: SIFER or OSDP Readers connect to the RS485 Reader Port on the host module. The table below is a general guide; always refer to Reader Installation guides for specific wiring details. Readers connected to T4 or T6 must be wired with Shielded Data cable. Do not use twisted pairs!
Reader | D0 / Data R# | D1 / Clk R# | +VE | GND |
---|---|---|---|---|
Wiegand | ||||
IR Secure40 Prox Reader | Green | White | Red | Black/Shield |
HID/Indala with flying leads | Green | White | Red | Black/Shield |
HID with screw terminals | Data 0 | Data 1 | +VE | GND |
Magnetic Swipe | ||||
Omron Magnetic Swipe | Brown (Data) | Red (Clock) | Yellow | Green |

The LED control wires on many Readers can be wired directly to the VALID / INVALID outputs on the Reader Module if required (the dropping resistor is usually built-in). Check the Reader's information for LED control details before connecting. If "+VR" is used to power external LEDs or dropping resistors are not provided in the Reader, connect a 1.2kOhm resistor between "+VR" and the LED Anode.
