General Safety Instructions
This manual contains vital information for the safe installation, use, and maintenance of Ariston electric water heaters. It is an integral part of the product and must accompany it at all times. Ariston is not liable for damages resulting from improper or unreasonable use, or failure to follow these instructions. Installation and maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel using original spare parts. Keep packaging materials away from children. Children aged 8 and above, or those with reduced capabilities, may use the appliance under supervision and after receiving safety instructions. Do not touch the appliance with bare or wet body parts. Before use and after maintenance, it is advisable to fill and then completely drain the appliance to remove any impurities. If the appliance is equipped with a power cord, it must be replaced by an authorized service center or qualified personnel. The water supply pipe must be connected using a safety valve in accordance with national standards. For countries adopting EN 1487, the safety unit must have a maximum pressure of 0.7 MPa and include a tap, check valve, safety valve, and water supply interruption device. Regularly check the overpressure protection device for blockages or scale buildup. Dripping from the overpressure protection device during water heating is normal; ensure proper drainage. For prolonged non-use in freezing conditions, drain and disconnect the appliance. Hot water above 50°C can cause severe burns; consider a thermostatic mixing valve. Keep flammable objects away from the appliance and do not place objects underneath it that could be damaged by water leaks.
Legionella Protection Function
Legionella bacteria can be present in water sources. To prevent Legionnaires' disease, avoid long periods of water stagnation in the boiler. This Ariston water heater is equipped with a thermostat operating above 60°C, suitable for thermal disinfection cycles to limit Legionella proliferation. Be cautious of high water temperatures during disinfection cycles.
Technical Characteristics
Technical specifications are found on the identification label. The data on the energy label applies to vertically installed products. The appliance complies with international electrical safety standards IEC 60335-1 and IEC 60335-2-21. It also complies with relevant EC Directives (LVD, EMC, RED, RoHS2, ErP). The EC Declaration of Conformity is available at www.aristonthermo.com/en/download-area. This product complies with REACH regulations.
Installation Standards
This appliance must be installed vertically. Ensure correct vertical mounting using a spirit level before filling and powering on. The device heats water below boiling point and must be connected to a domestic hot water system designed for its capacity. Before connection, check specifications, IP protection class, and packaging/technical labels. Install indoors in well-ventilated areas, away from humidity, freezing temperatures, direct sunlight, dust, aggressive fumes, and electrical discharge. Ensure wall support can bear three times the weight of the full appliance. Wall hooks should be at least 12mm in diameter. Install close to points of use to minimize heat loss. Comply with local regulations regarding installation in bathrooms. Ensure at least 50cm of free space around the unit for accessing electrical components.
Water Connection
Connect the water inlet and outlet to pipes or fittings resistant to operating pressure and temperatures exceeding 90°C. Do not use materials not resistant to these temperatures. Water hardness should be between 12°F and 25°F; use a water softener if hardness is higher, maintaining a residual hardness of at least 15°F. Connect the cold water inlet (blue collar) with a T-shaped fitting, a drain valve, and an overpressure device.
Safety Unit According to EN 1487
Specific hydraulic safety devices may be required by local laws. Do not place any shut-off devices between the safety device and the water heater. Connect the drain outlet to a drain pipe of at least the same diameter as the appliance connection, using a funnel with a minimum 20mm air gap for visual inspection. Connect the safety unit inlet to the cold water distribution pipe. Do not overtighten the safety unit when screwing it in. If system pressure approaches the valve's calibration pressure, use a pressure-reducing device. Flush pipes to remove debris before installing fixtures.
Electrical Connection
Ensure the electrical connection is suitable for the heater's maximum power input and that wiring cross-sections comply with standards. Ariston is not responsible for damages caused by improper grounding or abnormal electrical energy. Secure the power cable to the protective cover using the provided cable clamp. Do not use splitters, extension cords, or adapters. Do not use water, heating, or gas pipes for grounding. If a power cord is supplied, it must be replaced with one of the same specifications (H05VV-F 3x1.5 mm², 8.5mm diameter). The power cable must be inserted into the rear opening and secured to the terminal block. Use a double-pole switch with a minimum 3mm contact gap for disconnection. The appliance must be grounded; the earth wire (yellow-green) must be longer than the phase conductors and secured to the terminal near the symbol. If the appliance is not supplied with a power cord, use a fixed pipe connection (3x1.5 mm² cable) or a flexible cable (H05VV-F 3x1.5 mm², 8.5mm diameter) if a cable clamp is present.
Commissioning and Start-up
Fill the appliance with water before turning on the power. Open the main water valve and hot water tap until all air is expelled. Check for water leaks and tighten any loose screws or nuts. Turn on the power using the switch.
Maintenance (For Qualified Personnel)
All maintenance must be performed by authorized personnel. Before contacting service, check for simple issues like water or power interruptions. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before any maintenance. To drain the appliance, disconnect it from power, close the water valve, open a hot water tap, and then open the drain valve.
Part Replacement
During assembly, maintain original component positions. Use only original Ariston spare parts. Incorrect resistor replacement will cause appliance malfunction.
Regular Maintenance
After maintenance, fill and drain the tank to remove impurities. Use only Ariston original spare parts.
Safety Valve
Regularly check the overpressure protection device for blockages or damage. If equipped with a lever, use it to drain the appliance or check its operation.
User Instructions
User Advice
Do not place objects under the water heater that could be damaged by leaks. If the water is not used for extended periods, disconnect power and close water taps. Hot water above 50°C can cause burns, especially to children and the elderly. User maintenance is prohibited. Contact qualified personnel for power cord replacement. Clean external parts with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
Anti-Freeze Protection
The anti-freeze function automatically protects the appliance from temperatures below 5°C when switched off during cold periods. It is recommended to keep the product connected to the power supply even during prolonged inactivity. The function is active but not indicated. To reset errors, turn the product off and on again. If the fault persists, contact technical support.
Useful Information
Ensure the appliance is switched off before cleaning. Do not use insecticides, solvents, or aggressive cleaning agents. If the outlet water is cold, check the power supply, electronic board, heating elements, bypass pipe, and sensor rods. If the water is boiling or steam is escaping, check the electronic board, scale buildup, and sensor rods. For insufficient hot water production, check water pressure, deflectors, hot water outlet pipe, and electrical components. Water leakage from the overpressure device during heating is normal; install an expansion vessel to prevent it. If leakage continues, check the device calibration and water network pressure. Never block the drain opening. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself; contact qualified personnel. Ariston reserves the right to make technical changes without prior notice.
WEEE Directive Compliance
This product complies with WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU. Dispose of the appliance separately from household waste at designated collection centers or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new equivalent. Proper disposal supports environmental protection and material recycling.
