ARRIS SURFboard SBR-AC3200P Wi-Fi Router
Featuring RipCurrent™
The ARRIS SURFboard® SBR-AC3200P Wi-Fi Router offers a simple home network experience with high-performance 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a 4-port Gigabit Ethernet router, two USB ports, and the unique RipCurrent (Homegrid G.hn) technology. This router is designed to work with other G.hn devices.
Initial Setup
For Internet connections, you must have a cable, DSL, or Satellite Internet Service Provider (ISP) service connection to the Internet. For detailed customization of your wireless network and advanced router settings, refer to the SBR-AC3200P User Guide available online at the ARRIS Support website: www.SURFboard.com/Support/SBR-AC3200P.
- Unplug the power to turn off the modem providing your Internet connection.
- Restore power to your Internet Modem and allow it to re-register with your Service Provider.
- Connect the power cord to the SBR-AC3200P. Once the front panel status indicator shows green, connect the included Ethernet cable between the Blue WAN port on the router and an Ethernet port on your Internet Modem. Verify router connectivity by connecting to the router and accessing the internet with a PC or other device.
- Wait until the 2.4/5GHz LEDs on the rear panel of the Wi-Fi Router turn solid green.
Administration
To manage your SBR-AC3200P, open a web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome) and access http://192.168.0.1. The default credentials are case-sensitive:
- Log In: admin
- Password: password
ARRIS strongly recommends changing your Web Manager Password, found under the Status Tab Security settings.
RipCurrent: Gigabit Home Networking over existing AC wiring
For the RipCurrent distribution network to function, at least two Gigabit Home Networking (G.hn) transmitters are required. Your router needs at least one companion device to utilize the RipCurrent feature. For information on compatible SURFboard Extender and Accessory products, visit www.SURFboard.com.
Plug in your RipCurrent or other G.hn Extender into an AC outlet near the SBR-AC3200P Router. The G.hn network will connect automatically in a non-secure mode, indicated by an Amber status LED. ARRIS strongly recommends the following steps to add security to the network:
- Press and hold the G.hn Secure Pairing button on the back of the Router for 2 seconds. The pairing LED will blink green.
- Press the G.hn pairing button on the other G.hn device (e.g., for SBX, press for 2 seconds). The LEDs will blink while syncing.
- You can now unplug and relocate the Extender to a room where network extension is required. It will reconnect in secure mode.
- Rear panel status indicator LEDs on the SBR-AC3200P and SURFboard RipCurrent Extenders show the signal strength of the RipCurrent signal: Red = No signal, Green = Excellent signal, Amber = Weak signal.
Diagram Illustration: The setup involves an Internet Modem connected via Ethernet to the ARRIS SURFboard SBR-AC3200P Wi-Fi Router. The router is plugged into an AC Wall Outlet. Companion devices, such as the SURFboard SBX-1200P Wi-Fi Extender and SURFboard SBX-1000P Extender, are also plugged into AC Wall Outlets and connect to devices like a TV and Game Console, demonstrating home networking over existing AC wiring.
Setting up the SBR-AC3200P Wi-Fi Network
To manage the Wi-Fi Router setup, you can connect a computer to an available LAN port on the SBR-AC3200P using a second Ethernet cable (not provided), or connect wirelessly using the preset wireless security settings printed on the security label located on the bottom of the Wi-Fi Router.
The SBR-AC3200P features powerful wireless networking capabilities. ARRIS has set recommended defaults for advanced Wi-Fi features, which can also be managed via the Web Manager. Before connecting wireless devices, make any desired changes to your Wi-Fi Network Name and Wi-Fi Passcode using the Web Manager Wizard (log in at http://192.168.0.1).
Devices can be connected using the Wi-Fi Pairing button (WPS) on the SBR-AC3200P rear panel (press for at least 10 seconds, then activate WPS on your client device), or by using the Wi-Fi Settings Connection on your client device.
