Hardware Installation
3.1 Connecting up the Vigor Router
The router connects to your network and power as follows:
- ADSL/VDSL Connections: Connect the DSL port to the Modem or DSL port of the external splitter/microfilter (not supplied) using the RJ-11 line cable. Some wall sockets may have the RJ-11 DSL socket built-in, eliminating the need for a separate microfilter/splitter.
- LAN Connections: Connect a LAN port of the router to your computer or switch using an Ethernet cable.
- Power Supply: Connect the power adapter to the Vigor 2763's PWR socket on the rear and plug the adapter into a suitable mains socket. Turn the Vigor2763 on using its power switch.
- Upon startup and completion of the system test, the ACT LED will light up and blink once per second, indicating it is ready for use. Refer to Section 2 for detailed LED status information.
Diagram Description: The diagram shows a rear view of the router with numbered connection points: 1. DSL port, 2. LAN ports (P1-P4), 3. Power Adapter port (PWR), 4. Power Switch. It also shows connections to a Land Line Jack (Internet) and a computer via a LAN port.
3.2 Wall-Mounting the Vigor Router
The DrayTek Vigor2763 series routers feature keyhole mounting slots on the underside for hanging on a wall or other surface using screws.
- Drill two holes on the wall, spaced 168mm apart.
- Fit screws into the wall using appropriate wall plugs.
- Slot the router onto the installed screws.
Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates wall mounting. It shows two holes drilled 168mm apart on a wall. A screw (M3.5*19mm) is shown being inserted into a wall plug. The router is depicted being hung on the screws.
? Note: The recommended drill diameter is 6.5mm (1/4").
Setup & Configuration
This section provides guidance on accessing the router and configuring internet access for common UK connection types. If you encounter issues with your specific ISP or connection type, contact your dealer for advanced information.
? Note: To access the router, your PC must obtain an IP address via DHCP or have an IP address within the 192.168.1.x range. Refer to the User Guide's "Trouble Shooting" section for details on changing this.
4.1 Accessing the Router Web Interface
Open a web browser on your PC and navigate to https://192.168.1.1.
The https://
prefix ensures your connection is encrypted using SSL, preventing interception of session data. Without it, data is transmitted in clear text.
Your browser may display a security warning about an invalid certificate (e.g., "Your connection is not secure" or "This site ahead contains malware"). This is because the router uses a self-signed certificate, not one issued by a trusted Certificate Authority. You will need to confirm or add an exception to proceed. This is normal for local network devices.
Example Browser Warnings Description: The document shows examples of security warnings from Mozilla Firefox ("Your connection is not secure") and Microsoft Edge ("There's a problem with this website's security certificate"), with options to "Go Back", "Advanced", or "Continue to this webpage".
After bypassing the security warning, you will be prompted to log in.
Login Screen Description: A screenshot shows the DrayTek Vigor2763 Series login page with fields for Username and Password. A security warning is displayed, advising to log in securely via a provided link.
The factory default login credentials are:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
? Note: If you cannot access the web interface, consult the "Trouble Shooting" section in the User Guide.
Upon successful login, the router displays the Dashboard, providing a summary of the router model, WAN status, front panel port status, and other information.
Dashboard Description: A screenshot of the DrayTek Vigor2763 Series Dashboard is shown, displaying system information, LAN status, WAN status, and other configuration menus on the left.
? Note: It is strongly recommended to configure a secure password for the router's administration interface. This can be changed via [System Maintenance] > [Administrator Password].
4.2 WAN1 – ADSL & VDSL Connection Setup
The WAN1 interface supports VDSL2 and ADSL2+ connections.
- For VDSL2 with ISP-provided Username/Password: See section 4.2.1.
