Front Panel Description
Indicators
- Voltage and Current Display: Shows output voltage and current settings.
- Operation Mode Indicators:
- OVP (Over Voltage Protection): Illuminates when output voltage exceeds safe limits. If OVP triggers, output voltage is cut off and OVP indicator flashes. Operation restores upon pressing OVP button.
- OCP (Over Current Protection): Illuminates when output current exceeds the set limit.
- CC (Constant Current): Illuminates when the power supply operates in constant current mode.
- CV (Constant Voltage): Illuminates when the power supply operates in constant voltage mode.
- OUT: Illuminates when voltage is present at the output terminals.
- Memory Bank Indicators (M1-M5): Indicate which memory bank is currently active or storing settings.
Controls
- Power Button: Main power on/off switch.
- Memory Buttons (M1-M4): Used for saving and recalling settings from memory banks.
- Unlock/Lock Button: Press and hold for 2 seconds to lock/unlock the front panel controls.
- Beep Button (OCP): Press and hold for 2 seconds to enable/disable the buzzer.
- OVP Button: Enables/disables overvoltage protection.
- Off/ON Button: Enables/disables the output voltage.
- Adjust Knob: Used for fine or coarse adjustment of voltage and current.
- Voltage/Current Select Button: Switches between voltage and current adjustment modes. Pressing '>' increases adjustment precision; '<' decreases it.
Rear Panel Description
- Power Input: AC mains connection socket.
- Ventilation Outlets: Air vents for cooling.
- Ground Terminal: Connection for protective earth.
- USB Port: For remote control (models with 'P' suffix).
- RS-232 Port: For remote control (models with 'P' suffix).
- Fuse Holder: Contains the mains fuse.
Operation
Powering the Unit On
Press the POWER button. The display will show initialization and then recall the last saved settings.
Connecting to Mains
Connect the AC power cord to the input socket. Ensure the input voltage matches the rating on the rear panel (110/220V, 50/60 Hz).
Output Voltage Control
Press the Off/ON button to enable/disable the output voltage. The corresponding indicator will light up.
Automatic output voltage cutoff occurs under the following conditions:
- When current protection (OCP) is triggered (current exceeds set limit).
- When voltage exceeds the set overvoltage protection limit.
- When new parameters are recalled from memory.
Buzzer Control
By default, the buzzer is enabled. To disable, press and hold the OCP (BEEP) button for 2 seconds. Repeat to re-enable.
Buzzer events can be configured in settings, such as power-on, buzzer/lock status, current/voltage adjustment, and output status.
Panel Lock/Unlock
To lock the front panel, press and hold the Lock/Unlock button for 2 seconds. To unlock, repeat the process. Buttons will become active again.
Output Parameter Adjustment
- Connect the device to the front panel terminals.
- Set output voltage and current. Press the Voltage/Current button to switch between modes. Use the Adjust knob for coarse adjustment. Use the '>' and '<' buttons for fine adjustment.
- Enable output voltage using the OUT button. The CV or CC indicator will light up depending on the load.
Saving and Recalling Settings
Saving Settings
Front panel settings can be saved to five memory banks.
Saved settings include: output current/voltage, buzzer status, panel lock status.
Direct recall is available via buttons M1-M4.
Recalling Settings
Press any memory bank button (e.g., M1) to recall settings. After recalling bank 4, turning the adjustment knob saves settings to bank 5.
When a memory bank is selected, its indicator lights up.
Note: After recalling settings, the output voltage is automatically turned off to prevent errors and protect the load.
Remote Control
Remote Control Setup
Models with the 'P' suffix are equipped with USB and RS-232 ports for remote control.
COM Port Settings:
- Baud Rate: 9600
- Parity: None
- Data Bits: 8
- Stop Bits: 1
- Flow Control: None
Diagnostic queries can be sent via a terminal. Sending '*IDN' should return model and firmware information (e.g., 'Ka3003, SN: xxxxxxxx, VX. xx').
Connecting for Remote Control
- Turn on the power supply and connect it to the computer via USB.
- Launch the remote control software; the power supply will connect automatically. A buzzer signal indicates successful connection.
- Front panel buttons will be locked; control is exclusively via remote.
Exiting Remote Control
- Close the remote control software.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the power supply.
- A buzzer sound indicates that remote control mode is inactive.
- The power supply will automatically revert to front panel control.
