Rittal One-Piece Consoles: Assembly and Operating Instructions
Model Series: TP
Models: TP 6746.600, TP 6748.600, TP 6740.600, TP 6742.600
Introduction
This document provides assembly and operating instructions for Rittal's one-piece consoles. These floor-standing enclosures are designed for housing electrical, electronic, mechanical, or pneumatic equipment in industrial environments. The instructions are intended for qualified personnel.
Safety Instructions
General Safety:
- The enclosure must be secured against falling over and slipping during transport, assembly, configuration, and dismantling. Failure to adhere to these instructions can result in danger to health and life.
- Installation should only be performed by qualified electricians and mechanics.
- Observe all specified torque values; over- or undershooting can cause damage or injury.
- Avoid unnecessary openings in the enclosure, as they can reduce the degree of protection.
Specific Warnings:
- [Warning Symbol] Warning of closing movements of mechanical parts.
- [Warning Symbol] Warning of moving mechanical parts.
- [Information Symbol] Read the instructions.
- [Prohibition Symbol] Climbing on surfaces is prohibited.
Device Description
The Rittal TP one-piece console is a robust floor-standing enclosure suitable for various industrial applications. It typically includes:
- One enclosure body with door(s) and lid.
- A double-bit lock insert for secure closure.
- A mounting plate for internal equipment.
- An accessories bag containing necessary items (refer to section 3.2 for contents).
- Safety instructions documentation.
Assembly and Siting
Site Requirements:
- Ambient temperature: Not higher than +80°C, not lower than -40°C.
- Relative humidity: Does not exceed 50% at +40°C (higher humidity is permissible at lower temperatures).
- Ensure mounting surfaces are sufficiently level and smooth.
Assembly Steps:
- Sealing Plugs (4.2): Used to seal openings, typically with Ø 15.6 mm plugs.
- Switching Door Hinges (4.3): Instructions are provided for reversing the door opening direction. This involves detaching the door, transferring hinges, and reattaching.
- Changing Lock Insert (4.4): Details on replacing the lock mechanism are provided, including specific part numbers for different lock types.
- Mounting/Removing Lid (4.5, 4.6): Procedures for attaching and detaching the lid, with warnings about the risk of crushing.
- Installing Mounting Plate (4.7): Steps for securing the mounting plate using M6 screws, with specified torque values (e.g., MA = 6+1 Nm).
- Securing Mounting Plate for Dynamic Loads (4.8): Specific instructions for reinforcing the mounting plate attachment when subjected to dynamic loads, using M8 screws and higher torque values (e.g., MA = 20 Nm).
- Mounting Base/Plinth (4.9): Instructions for attaching the base or plinth, often involving M12 screws and a specified torque (e.g., MA = 20 Nm).
- Installing Gland Plates (4.10): Steps for fitting gland plates to allow cable entry, ensuring IP protection.
- Mounting Wiring Plan Pocket (4.11): Instructions for attaching a pocket for documentation, typically using M4 screws.
- Mounting Rails (4.12): Guidance on installing internal mounting rails or busbar systems using M6 screws.
- Mounting TP Aluminium Strip (4.13): Steps for installing an aluminium finishing strip.
- Earthing and Potential Equalisation (4.14): Instructions for ensuring proper electrical grounding and potential equalization between the enclosure and its doors/lids using M8 screws and appropriate connections.
- Alignment of Enclosure (4.15): Emphasizes ensuring the enclosure is level during installation.
Transport
The enclosure must be secured against tipping during transport, assembly, and installation. When using a base/plinth system, ensure the load is always supported on the corner pieces, not the trim, during lifting and lowering.
Installation
If high internal pressures are possible, users must take appropriate safety measures to prevent enclosure parts from bursting.
Earthing and Potential Equalisation
The enclosure design facilitates system-specific earth connections via prepared holes for earthing screws/nuts on doors and lids. All connections must follow assembly instructions.
Operation
Avoid leaving doors or lids open for extended periods to prevent dust, humidity, or contaminants from entering the enclosure. Always ensure doors/lids are properly closed after work.
Inspection and Maintenance
Regular maintenance (at least annually) is recommended, depending on operating conditions. This includes checking and lubricating hinges and locks, and inspecting seals. Minor surface damage like scratches can be polished or touched up with Rittal paint. Significant damage requires sanding and repainting.
Storage
Store enclosures within the specified ambient temperature range (-40°C to +80°C) and humidity limits (50% at +40°C).
Technical Specifications
Dimensions: Available in various widths (600, 800, 1000, 1200 mm) with consistent height (960 mm) and depth (400 mm). Top/bottom mounting depths vary.
Protection Ratings: IP ratings (e.g., IP55) and IK ratings (e.g., IK08) are specified, often in conjunction with fitted side panels.
Load Capacities: Specifications for lid support (e.g., 150 N static) and other load limits are provided.
Heat Loss: Dissipated power values are listed for different temperature differentials (ΔT = 20 K) across various enclosure sizes.
Spare Parts
An up-to-date overview of spare parts is available on the Rittal website.
Warranty
The standard sales and delivery conditions of Rittal agents and subsidiaries apply.
