Four Factors Affecting Bass Response:
- The acoustics of the vehicle
- The locations of the speakers
- The music's recording quality
- Speakers and speaker enclosure types
The BX is designed to restore low frequencies lost during the recording process, adapting to different acoustic environments.
The 'Sweep' control allows selection of a center frequency (27-63 Hz) most affected by the restoration. The 'Width' control adjusts the shape of the filter around this frequency.
Product Features
Bass Restoration:
The BX features a Bass Restoration circuit that injects low-frequency information back into the signal path, enhancing bass impact.
Bass Equalization Circuit:
A unique equalization circuit contours the restored bass to match the speaker systems.
Dash Mount Remote Control:
The included Dash Mountable Remote Control allows for adjustments from the driver's seat. It features an LED indicator that brightens with increased bass and dims with decreased gain.
Bass Maximizer Indicator:
Three LED indicators on the BX chassis flash when the bass maximization circuit is activated, providing visual feedback.
Connections
Power Connection:
- +12V: Connect to Battery/Constant +12 Volt.
- Remote: Connect to amplifier Turn-On (Behind Radio or True Ignition Source).
- GND: Connect to Vehicle Chassis (-).
RCA Connection:
- (Balanced Input): Connect your Low-Level signal from your vehicle's source unit or input converter. Designed to handle extreme signals.
- (Output): Connect to your bass amplifiers. RCA cables are not included and must be purchased separately.
- (Dash Remote): Connect the provided dash level controller and cable to a location within the driver's reach for adjustments.

Product Functions
Component Descriptions:
- 1. Input: Balanced inputs designed to minimize induced noise and handle high signal voltages up to 15 volts.
- 2. Outputs: RCA connectors for connecting to the next component (crossover, equalizer, or amplifier).
- 3. Dash Remote Control: Interface for remote gain adjustment.
- 4. Power Connector: Connection point for power supply.
- 5. Para-Bass Controls: 'Sweep' knob selects center frequency for bass restoration; 'Wide' knob adjusts the affected frequency range.
- 6. PFM Subsonic Filter Switch: Helps with speaker control and amplifier power management. Offers three frequency selections (35Hz / 50Hz / 80Hz) to protect speakers and improve sound clarity.
- 7. Bass Maximizer Indicator: Three LEDs that flash to indicate when the bass maximization circuit is activated.
- 8. Power-On LED: Indicates when the unit is powered on.
Internal Controls & Jumpers:
- 9. Input Ground: Jumper setting (BALANCE or UNBALANCE) for source unit ground connection via RCA. Default BALANCE is recommended for most systems.
- 10. Ground Isolation Jumper: Provides alternative ground connections to help resolve alternator whine caused by differing grounds between source units and amplifiers. Ensure the system is off before changing.
- 11. Bass Output Control Jumpers: Adjusts the Bass Maximizer circuit's signal voltage for SPL or tamer systems, or to protect speakers. Factory settings are generally suitable.

Troubleshooting Guide
Unit Not Turning On / Power LED Off:
- Verify B+ and GND are not reversed.
- Ensure the power wire is correctly connected and has a potential of 11-16 volts.
- Check that the fuse is functioning correctly.
High Audible Distortion or Low Output Volume:
- Confirm input and output levels are set correctly, matching source and host sensitivity.
- Check crossover settings. For high "Q" systems, set crossover half an octave above the desired point; for low "Q" systems, set it one octave or more above.
Whining or Engine Noise:
- Verify the GND connection is secure, with a wire that is not too thin or unnecessarily long.
- Check that the +12V wire is not too thin or unduly long.
- Try connecting a different power source.
