3. Started and Setup
The MSY2 is easy to use with the following steps:
- Place the MSY2 on a suitable shelf or table.
- Extend the telescopic antenna.
- Connect the power adapter between the MSY2 and the mains supply, then press the Power/Volume dial to turn the device on.
Set Time/Date (wizard)
The time and date can be updated manually or automatically. With auto-update, the time and date are automatically synchronized with national time signals broadcast over DAB and FM (when available).
The time menu contains the following options:
- Set Time/Date
- Auto update
- Set 12/24 hour
- Set date format
- Clock style
Auto-update: Auto-update works with data sent over DAB and FM. The clock is only updated when in a corresponding mode, so it is best to select a mode you use regularly. DAB and FM use time signals broadcast with radio transmissions. Select Update from DAB, Update from FM, Update, or No update. Note that if you are updating the time from DAB or FM, the Daylight Savings option has no effect on the clock's time. The MSY2 will auto-update from the selected source when time information is available.
Manual set
If you select 'No update', the wizard prompts you to set the time and date manually. The date and time are displayed as dd-mm-yyyy and hh:mm AM/PM, with the first value (dd) active and flashing. Adjust each value with the Select control. As each value is set, the next value becomes active and flashes.
12/24 hour display
To change between 12 and 24 hour display, select 'Set 12/24 hour' and then select your preference.
4. DAB Radio Mode (Optional)
To enter FM mode, please refer to the steps in Section 5.
- The product defaults to DAB mode.
- If this is the first time you are using the radio, it will automatically start scanning. This may take a few minutes. The previously selected station or the first station on the station list will automatically play.
- To change station, press the Tune +/- button and use the Navigation dial to choose a radio station, then press the dial to select.
- Adjust volume using the Power/Volume dial: turn anticlockwise to decrease and clockwise to increase volume.
[Digital Radio display example: "Digital Radio", "10:27", "BBC Radio 2", "Pop Music"]
If reception was not good for the original scan (e.g., the antenna was not fully extended), this may result in an empty or incomplete list of available stations. If you have poor reception of some stations (indicated by burbling), you may wish to list only stations with good signal strength.
To start a scan manually, select Menu > Full Scan. Once the scan is complete, the radio shows a list of available stations.
To remove stations that are listed but unavailable, select Menu > Prune invalid.
4.1 Selecting Stations
To listen to or change a station, turn the Select control to view a list of stations and press to select. Once selected, the station plays, and the screen shows information about the station, track, or show as broadcast.
Presets
To store a DAB preset, press and hold the Presets button until the display shows the 'Save preset' screen. Select one of the 20 presets (available on the remote) to save the currently playing station. To select a preset, press the Presets button briefly, then select one of the listed preset stations. When a preset station is playing, it shows numbers like '1,2,3' in the bottom middle of the screen.
4.2 Now Playing Information
While the stream is playing, the screen shows its name and DLS (Dynamic Label Segment) information broadcast by the station, giving real-time details such as programme name, track title, and contact details. Stereo broadcasts are indicated with an icon [stereo icon] at the top of the screen. To view further information, press the Info button. Each time you press Info, another set of information is displayed, cycling through DLS text, programme type, ensemble name/frequency, signal strength/error rate, bit rate/codec/channels, and today's date.
4.3 Settings
Dynamic Range Compression
Some DAB broadcasts offer Dynamic Range Compression (DRC). This feature allows radios to compress the dynamic range of the output audio stream, so that the volume of quiet sounds is increased, and the volume of loud sounds is reduced. This can be useful if you are listening to music with a high dynamic range in a noisy environment (for example, classical music while cooking).
To change the DRC of the MSY2, select Menu > DRC, and then choose DRC high, DRC low, or DRC off. Note: The MSY2's DRC setting does not affect the audio if DRC data is not included in the broadcast.
5. FM Radio Mode (Optional)
FM radio mode receives analogue radio from the FM band and displays RDS (Radio Data System) information about the station and show (where broadcast).
To enter FM mode, please follow these steps:
- Press the 'Source' button to enter the Audio Source Menu and use the 'Navigation' dial to select FM.
- To automatically scan for stations, long press the Tune + or Tune - button.
- To manually tune in 0.05MHz increments, press the Tune + or Tune - button.
- Adjust volume using the 'Power/Volume' dial: turn anticlockwise to decrease and clockwise to increase volume.
[FM display example: "FM", "BBC R4", "Arts", "4:29PM", "RDS DATI"]
5.1 Selecting Stations
You can scan up or down by pressing and holding the Tune +/- buttons or tune manually with quick presses. Presets to store an FM preset: press and hold the Presets button until the display shows the 'Save preset' screen. Select one of the 20 presets to save the currently playing station. To select a preset, press Presets briefly, then select one of the listed Preset stations.
5.2 Now Playing Information
While an FM station is playing, the screen shows one of two data sets: If RDS information is available, the service name (i.e., station name) is displayed by default. You can cycle through further RDS information by pressing the Info button. Each time you press Info, another set of information is displayed, cycling through RDS radio text, RDS programme type, frequency, and today's date.
If no RDS information is available, the currently tuned frequency is shown.
6. Aux In Mode
Aux in mode plays audio from an external source such as an MP3 player.
To play audio with Aux in mode:
- Connect the external audio source to the Aux In (RCA) stereo socket.
- Press Source and select AUX in.
- Adjust the volume of the MSY2 (and, if necessary, the audio source device) as required.
[Auxiliary input display example: "Audio In", "Today's Date: 06/02/2013", "2:33PM"]
7. Bluetooth Mode
Prior to pairing, verify your device supports Bluetooth 5.0 and is not connected to any other Bluetooth product. Devices may pair differently; this is a general guide.
- Press Source and select Bluetooth mode. This powers on the Bluetooth. Turn the volume up about half to start. Also, turn up the volume on the source device (the device you are streaming from).
- Turn on the Bluetooth on your enabled device.
- Select the Bluetooth device name “LEMEGA MSY2” when it appears on your device's screen to initiate searching.
- You can start to play your music files wirelessly. Adjust the volume level on your device.
You should not have to pair your device again. Depending on your device, you may need multiple attempts at Pairing and/or Connecting to the “LEMEGA MSY2”. Please give your device adequate time to Pair or Connect before repeating the process.
8. My Music with USB Playback
To play audio from a USB mass-storage device such as a USB Flash stick or USB hard drive, Select Source > USB.
Browsing folders
From this point on, menus are generated from the folders on the USB device. Browse folders with the Select control and Back button. The display shows folder and file names (not necessarily track names).
9. CD Playback
Notice! Improper operation can result in material damages!
Do not insert any recording media that deviates from the standard CD format (e.g., mini-discs) into the CD player. These may not be played and ejected correctly. Insert only one disc at a time into the CD player.
Insert a disc (with printing side facing up) until it is drawn inside. The CD player will automatically load the CD and start playback. The display will say “Loading”. Disc functions will not work while the disc is loading. Playback will begin automatically once the table of contents is read. The display will show "No Disc" when the unit is set to CD mode and there is no CD inside.
Insert the CD into the CD slot with the label side up. The display shows the following information in CD mode:
- CD mode
- Time
- Elapsed playback time in minutes
- Track number
- Playback status (playing/pause)
To pause/resume playback of the CD, press the [Pause/Play symbol] button.
To switch to the next track, press the [Next symbol] button once.
To fast forward through a track, press and hold the [Fast Forward symbol] button.
To switch to the previous track, press and hold the [Rewind symbol] button.
To fast backward through a track, press and hold the [Fast Rewind symbol] button.
To stop CD playback, press the [Stop symbol] button.
Press the menu button to open the CD menu for system settings.

To activate the new settings, scroll down and select Save. The screen shows active alarms with an icon [alarm icon] at the bottom left. At the set time, the alarm will sound. To temporarily silence it, press Snooze. You can change the snooze period with the Select control if you like. The radio returns to standby for the set period, with the silenced alarm icon flashing.
[Alarm display example: "Alarm 2", "Enable: Weekdays", "Time: 7:00AM", "Mode: Internet radio", "Preset: Last listened", "Volume: 24"]
10.2 Sleep
To set the sleep timer, select the Sleep button, then choose from Sleep OFF, 15 MINS, 30 MINS, 45 MINS, 60 MINS, or 90 MINS.
[Set sleep time display example: "Set sleep time", "30 minutes"]
Once you select a sleep period, the system returns to the main menu.
11. Factory Reset
A factory reset resets all user settings to default values, so time/date and presets are lost. However, the radio's current software version is maintained.
To perform a factory reset, select Menu > System settings > Factory reset, then proceed > Yes.
