DANGER HOT GLASS WILL CAUSE BURNS. DO NOT TOUCH GLASS UNTIL COOLED. NEVER ALLOW CHILDREN TO TOUCH GLASS.

  • Keep children away.
  • CAREFULLY SUPERVISE children in the same room as the fireplace.
  • Alert children and adults to high surface temperatures to avoid burns or clothing ignition.
  • Clothing, furniture, draperies, and other flammable materials must not be placed on or near the appliance.
  • A barrier designed to reduce the risk of burns from hot viewing glass must be installed and used. If the barrier is damaged, replace it with the manufacturer's specified barrier. Contact your dealer or Hearth & Home Technologies if the barrier is missing or for installation assistance.
  • Never leave children alone near a hot fireplace.
  • Teach children to NEVER touch the fireplace.
  • Consider not using the fireplace when children will be present. Visit www.hpba.org/Product-Info/Fireplace-Stove-Heater/Glass-Fronts-Safety for more information.
  • To prevent unintended operation when not in use: Remove batteries from remote controls and turn off wall controls.

WARNING: This product and the fuels used (liquid propane or natural gas), and their combustion products, can expose you to chemicals including benzene, known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. For more information go to: www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Clear Space: WARNING! DO NOT place combustible objects in front of the fireplace or block openings. High temperatures could start a fire. Avoid placing candles and other heat-sensitive objects on the mantel or hearth.

Diagram Description (Figure 3.1): This diagram illustrates clear space requirements around the fireplace for all models, showing minimum clearances from the appliance front and top edge of the fireplace opening to surrounding surfaces.

Choking Hazard: Keep media out of reach of children.

  • Supervise young children in the appliance's room.

I. Heat Management

Burn Rate: ECHELON-C models have a variable burn rate controlled by the remote, allowing flame height adjustment.

Optional Heat Management System: Allows heat redirection. Options include:

  • HeatZone®-Gas: Diverts heat into an adjacent room (up to 20 feet away). Requires IFT-RC400 control.
  • HEAT-OUT-GAS: Directs heat outside the building (up to 25 feet away). Operated with a wall switch.
  • Passive Heat Kit (PH-FRT/PH-SIDE): Disperses heat into the same room through front, side, or open-top discharge.

All heat management systems must be installed by a qualified service technician at the time of appliance installation. Refer to the installation manual for compatibility.

J. Operation During A Power Outage

The IntelliFire™ Touch system has a battery backup. The system seamlessly transitions from AC power to battery power.

  • Battery Pack Location: Found in the control cavity. Battery longevity is affected by service temperatures.
  • NOTICE: Batteries are for emergency power outages only, not primary long-term use.

To Operate Using Battery Power (DC):

  1. Access the control cavity (requires removing decorative barrier front, bottom glass shield, insulation, and heat shield).
  2. Locate the battery tray and insert four AA batteries (ensure correct polarity).
  3. Reinstall shields and panels.
  4. Turn the appliance on using the appropriate control (wall switch, remote, or ignition module ON/REMOTE/OFF switch).

To Return to AC Power: Slide the ON/REMOTE/OFF switch to REMOTE, remove batteries, and reinstall panels. For wall switches, toggle to OFF and remove batteries.

NOTICE: Some functionality (fan, lights, auxiliary functions) requiring 110-120 VAC power will be lost during battery backup operation.
