6.2. Setup Menu

Mode

Options: Camera, Video, Camera+Video, Timer Still, Timer Video. The default is Camera mode. In Camera+Video mode, the camera takes a set number of photos before recording a video.

Note: In Timer Still and Timer Video modes, the PIR sensor will stop working, and the camera will enter Periodic Shot mode.

Photo Size

Options: 12MP (4000x3000), 8MP (3840x2160), 5MP (3072x1728), 2MP (1920x1080), 0.5MP (1024x576). 5MP is the default.

A higher resolution produces better quality photos but results in larger files. 12MP and 8MP resolutions are generated by interpolation, which can affect quality.

Video Size

Options: 1080P (1920x1080 @ 30fps), 720P (1280x720 @ 30fps), WVGA (848x480 @ 30fps), VGA (640x480 @ 30fps). Select the required video resolution.

Higher resolution videos result in larger files requiring more space on the memory card. Videos are recorded in AVI format.

Video Length

Default 10 seconds, optional 10s-59s, 1M, 2M, 3M. Specify the duration of a video recording when the camera is triggered automatically. The recording period for videos is not limited in the Test mode.

Interval

Default 1 MIN, optional from 5 seconds to 60 minutes. Select the shortest period for the camera to wait before it reacts to successive triggering of the main sensor after an animal has first been detected. This prevents the memory card from being filled with unnecessary shots.

Note: A shorter interval means higher shooting frequency and power consumption. A longer interval means lower power consumption.

Periodic Interval

Optional from 5 seconds to 24 hours. This option is used to set up the fixed time. In MENU mode, there are two modes: Timer Still (taking photos at a fixed time) and Timer Video (recording videos at a fixed time). PIR will stop working in these modes.

Shutter

Options: 1/15 (high sensitivity, blur may be obvious), 1/20 (medium sensitivity, less blur), 1/30 (low sensitivity, minimal blur). 1/20 is the default. Select the suitable shutter speed based on your needs.

Time Stamp On / Off

Select "ON" to print the date, time, temperature, and moon phase on each photo or video. Otherwise, select "Off".

Time Switch OFF/On

Set timer to "On" if the camera should only be active within a certain time. If the start time is set to 18:35 and the end time to 8:25, the camera will be operational from 6:35 PM to 8:25 AM the next day. The camera will not be triggered outside this period.

Password Set Off / On

After selecting "On", enter a four-digit password to protect your camera against unauthorized access. This password must be entered each time the camera is switched on in Test mode. If you forget your password, unlock the camera with "OPEN".

Serial No. Set

7. Entering Live Mode

7.1. Adjusting And Installing The Camera

The Test mode (SETUP) is advantageous for determining the best possible detection angle and range of the movement sensor. Attach the camera at approx. 1-2m height to a tree and align the camera with a desired direction.

For 1-meter height, aim horizontally or slightly downwards.

For 2-meter height, aim down to 5 degrees.

Move slowly from one side of the observed area to the other, moving parallel to the camera. Try out different angles and distances.

The red LED flashing indicates that the PIR sensor has detected movement. This helps determine the best position for aligning the camera.

The red LED flashes for 5 times when you switch to Live mode (ON), and then the camera automatically enters Standby mode.

To prevent incorrect signals and unnecessary photos, we recommend not using the camera at sunny points and checking that no branches are in the active area of the sensor.

Optimal alignment: North or South direction. Detection range of sensors is approx. 50°, lens detection range is approx. 49°.

Ensure the camera is set to the correct height and point the camera down for optimum alignment if necessary.

7.2. Setting Up The Live Mode

The standard application of the Wildlife Camera is the Live mode. In this mode, photos are triggered by movement sensors or at intervals.

To set up the Live mode, switch the mode switch to ON. The red LED will flash for 5 times, and the camera will automatically enter Standby mode.

As soon as wild animals or other objects enter the detection area of the sensor zone, the camera starts to record photos and videos.

Note:

  • During the day, IR LEDs do not light up. Photos and videos are in color.
  • At night, IR LEDs light up, and photos and videos are in black and white.
  • The default interval is 1 minute. Options are 5s-60 MIN. Set the recording mode and parameters before entering Live mode.
  • If Flash Light is set to "Auto", the camera will adjust IR LED brightness automatically. At night, brightness may decrease, affecting shooting effect. For ultra-low power, shooting may stop at night.

8. Connection to Computer

Shift the Mode switch to "OFF" and connect the camera to the computer with a USB cable. The camera LCD will show "MSDC", indicating a successful connection. You can then read or copy data from the SD card to the computer.
