- Before flying, please make some practice with a simulator or seek instruction from a professional.
- DO NOT fly above or near obstacles, crowds, open water, public roads, high voltage power lines, or trees.
- DO NOT use the drone in severe weather conditions, such as a rainy day or windy day (wind speed > 5.5m/s), snow, hail, lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.
- DO NOT fly the drone in magnetic interference areas, radio interference areas, and government-regulated no-fly zones.
- The fast-rotating motors and propellers are a potential hazard causing serious damage and injury. A safe distance of 5m must be maintained from the drone at all times while it is operational. Fly with responsibility.
- Please maintain line-of-sight of your drone at all times after it is powered up. Do not rely on the camera image to control your drone.
- This product is not a toy and not recommended for users under age 14.
- This product is not intended for professional aerial drone photography.
- All parts must be kept out of the reach of children to avoid CHOKE HAZARD.
- CAUTION: Dispose of drone and batteries in accordance with local regulations. DO NOT treat it as household waste.
- Be sure to observe all local regulations, obtain appropriate authorizations, and understand risks. It is solely your responsibility to comply with all flight regulations.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE
- Thoroughly check the drone after a crash or violent impact.
- Do not use or store the battery near fire.
- Do not charge the battery if it is hot. Let it cool down first.
- Do not charge the battery next to inflammable materials, such as bed, carpet, wood floors, etc., or on surfaces that are electrically conductive. Do not leave the battery unattended while charging.
- ONLY use the original USB cable provided. Unplug the charger once the battery is fully charged.
- Remove the battery from the drone if it will not be used for a long time.
- Store the drone and remote in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Be sure to clean off your drone with a dry cloth to prevent any moisture from getting onto the electronics.
- Some parts of the drone and the remote are coated with lubricant, which may overflow during use; please use a cloth to clean it.
- Do not try to disassemble or repair the product yourself. Please contact SNAPTAIN for more help.
- Please use the original battery provided. Using an incorrect type of battery may lead to fire hazards.
- Do not dispose of the battery in fire or a hot oven, cut or mechanically crush the battery, as this may cause explosions.
- Do not leave the battery in an extremely high-temperature environment that can result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
- Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure, as this may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

FLIGHT PREPARATION
- Charge the battery: Connect the battery to the drone after it's fully charged.
- Battery Level Indicator: Low Battery: Flashing Blue; Charging: Flashing Blue; Fully Charged: Solid Blue.
- Please use the original battery and USB cable provided.
- Keep the battery away from any sharp objects that could puncture it to avoid risks of explosion and fire.
- Charging the battery from a PC's USB port is not recommended.
- Flight time may be reduced in low-temperature environments.
- To extend the battery's lifespan, recharge it at least once every three months if not using it for long periods.
- Unfold the arms: Unfold the rear arms, then the front arms.
- Insert a memory card (optional): FAT 32 format is required. Supports up to 128GB.
- Charge the remote: Fully Charged Indicator: Green; Charging Indicator: Red.
- Unfold the Remote Handle and Antenna.
- Unfold the Phone Clamp: Mount your mobile device when using it to fly the drone.
- Replace the propeller (optional):
- Loosen the screw to remove the propeller.
- Fit the spare propeller into the drone. Ensure the mark (A/B) on the propeller matches the mark on the drone's arm.
- Tighten the screw.
FLIGHT OPERATION GUIDE
IMPORTANT:
- Ensure you power on the drone first, then the remote for each flight.
- Repeat the pairing and calibration procedure each time the drone or remote is restarted.
- For all flight functions and modes, the operator and tail of the drone must be aligned.
- For beginners, flying in the open air and within the control range is recommended.
- Use the remote and App simultaneously for a better flying experience.
- The maximum flight distance (between the drone and the last recorded Home Point) is set to 30m by default and can be reset in the App's Settings.
Remote Operation Guide
Pair the Remote with the Drone
Step 1: Turn on the drone by pressing and holding the On/Off button for 3s until the four indicators on the battery light up. Place it on a flat surface with the head forward. LEDs on the drone's arms flash red slowly.
Step 2: Short press the On/Off button on the remote to turn it on (one beep from the remote). Push the Left Control Stick forward to the top, then pull it backward to the bottom. Pairing is complete when the front LEDs flash white slowly and the rear LEDs flash blue slowly.
Tips:
- To turn off the remote, short press the On/Off button, then press and hold it for 2s until a beep sound is heard.
- The drone and remote will turn off automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Flight Calibration
After pairing, the LEDs on the drone's arms flash red quickly, indicating calibration is needed.
Note: If the drone often flies in the same place, its LEDs may not flash red quickly after pairing, but calibration is still necessary.
Compass Calibration
Push the Left Control Stick to the upper right at 45° and the Right Control Stick to the upper left at 45°. The front LEDs flash white and red quickly, and the rear LEDs flash blue and red quickly.
Step 1: Hold the drone horizontally, then rotate it 360 degrees until the rear LEDs turn solid blue and red, indicating successful horizontal calibration.
Step 2: Hold the drone vertically with its head facing up, then rotate it 360 degrees until the front LEDs turn solid white and red, indicating successful vertical calibration.
Notes:
- Make sure to keep away from ferromagnetic substances and other electronic equipment during calibration.
- If the drone's arm LEDs keep flashing red during calibration, move to another location.
Gyro Calibration
Place the drone on a flat surface after compass calibration. Push the Left Control Stick to the upper left at 45° and the Right Control Stick to the upper right at 45° to start gyro calibration. Gyro calibration completes when the front LEDs (white) and rear LEDs (blue) turn from flashing quickly to flashing slowly.
Note: If the drone finds enough satellites, its LEDs will turn solid after gyro calibration.
GPS Satellites Searching
Wait for the drone to search for GPS satellites. Check the GPS Signal in the Snaptain Nova app (refer to pages 24-26). When the drone finds enough satellites, the GPS signal icon on the App turns blue, and the front LEDs (white) and rear LEDs (blue) turn solid on, indicating the drone is ready to take off in GPS Mode.
The drone is set to GPS Mode by default. In this mode, the drone uses the GPS module for positioning and precise hovering. GPS Mode requires a strong GPS signal; fly outdoors.
Notes:
- GPS Mode is strongly recommended for beginners.
- If you want to take off when GPS Mode is unavailable, switch to ATTI (Attitude) Mode (refer to Page 18).
Flight Instructions - Take-off
Option 1: Move the Left Control Stick to lower right at 45° and the Right Control Stick to lower left at 45° simultaneously until the four rotor blades start rotating. Then, short press the [Take-off] button to take off at a height of approximately 1.5m.
Option 2: Move the Left Control Stick to lower right at 45° and the Right Control Stick to lower left at 45° simultaneously until the four rotor blades start rotating. Then, slowly push the Left Control Stick forward to take off.
Notes:
- If you don't want the drone to take off after unlocking, push the Left Control Stick to lower right at 45° and the Right Control Stick to lower left at 45° again to stop the rotor blades from rotating.
- The motors will stop working if there is no operation within 20s.
Flight Directions
Left Control Stick:
- Push forward: Drone ascends.
- Pull backward: Drone descends.
- Push leftward: Drone rotates left.
- Push rightward: Drone rotates right.
Right Control Stick:
- Push forward: Drone flies forward.
- Pull backward: Drone flies backward.
- Push leftward: Drone flies leftward.
- Push rightward: Drone flies rightward.
Photo/Video
- Short press the [Photo] button to take a photo.
- Short press the [Video] button to start recording a video. Press it again to end and save the video to your mobile device and memory card (if using Snaptain Nova App).
Speed Switch
The drone's speed is set to Medium by default. Slide the SPEED switch rightward for High speed, and leftward for Low speed.
Speed Indicator: Low speed: Off; Medium speed: Solid Blue; High speed: Flashing Blue.
Headless Mode
Short press the [Headless Mode] button to activate Headless Mode. The Headless Mode Indicator on the remote will be solid blue. In this mode, the drone flies following the direction of the Right Control Stick, regardless of the drone's head or tail orientation. Press the same button again to cancel this mode.
Point of Interest (POI)
POI function enables the drone to fly around a desired subject.
Step 1: Fly the drone above the desired subject. The current point of the drone is the POI.
Step 2: Simultaneously press the [POI] and [Record] buttons on the remote to activate POI.
Step 3: Move the Right Control Stick to set the POI Radius from 2m to 100m.
Step 4: Simultaneously press the [POI] and [Record] buttons again; the drone starts orbiting around the POI clockwise.
Step 5: Cancel POI.
- Option 1: Simultaneously press the [POI] and [Record] buttons again.
- Option 2: Move the Right Control Stick while the drone is orbiting around POI.
Notes:
- The minimum POI radius is 2m. If the set radius is less than 2m, the drone will automatically fly to a point where the POI radius is 2m.
- This function cannot be activated when the drone battery is low.
Attitude (ATTI) Mode
In ATTI Mode, the drone maintains a specific flight altitude but may drift in the wind.
Option 1: Press and hold the [ATTI Mode] button for 3s to activate ATTI Mode. Press and hold it again for 3s to cancel ATTI Mode.
Option 2: ATTI Mode is automatically engaged when the GPS signal is not strong enough for GPS mode during outdoor flight.
Notes:
- ATTI Mode is recommended only for pilots with proficient skills.
- In ATTI Mode, GPS-based functions like RTH, Follow Me, Waypoints, and POI cannot be activated.
Flight Trimming
This function is for ATTI Mode only, where the drone may drift in the wind. Proper trimming helps the drone achieve hovering flight.
- If the drone drifts forward or backward, press and hold the [Trim] button, then slightly push the Right Control Stick backward or forward to adjust.
- If the drone drifts leftward or rightward, press and hold the [Trim] button, then slightly push the Right Control Stick rightward or leftward to adjust.
Release the [Trim] button to cancel trimming mode.
Return-to-Home (RTH)
The RTH function brings the drone back to the last recorded Home Point where it took off. RTH works only when the GPS signal is strong and the compass functions normally.
Smart RTH
Press the [Smart RTH] button on the remote to initiate Smart RTH.
RTH Distance: The distance between the drone and the last recorded Home Point.
1. RTH Distance >30m: If the current flight altitude is lower than the preset RTH altitude, the drone will ascend to the preset RTH altitude, then fly back to the Home Point and descend to land. If the current flight altitude is higher than the preset RTH altitude, the drone will fly back to the Home Point at its current flight altitude and land.
2. RTH Distance ≤30m: The drone will fly back to the Home Point at its current flight altitude and descend to land.
IMPORTANT: After the drone returns to Home Point and the rotor blades stop rotating, press the [Smart RTH] button to cancel Smart RTH. Otherwise, you cannot regain control of the drone.
Notes:
- The preset RTH altitude is 25m by default. It can be reset in the Snaptain Nova App Settings (see page 27). However, the preset RTH altitude cannot be higher than the current flight altitude when resetting.
- During Smart RTH, the remote continuously beeps, and the RTH Indicator flashes green.
Failsafe RTH
Failsafe RTH is automatically activated when the remote disconnects from the drone for 5s. The drone flies back to the last recorded Home Point under the control of the flight system. If the connection is re-established during Failsafe RTH, the pilot can regain control by pressing the [Cancel RTH] button. If no pilot operation occurs, the RTH process continues.
Low Battery RTH
Low Battery RTH is triggered when the drone battery is low. Check the low battery prompt on the App.
1. RTH Distance >30m: The drone flies horizontally back to a point 15m from the Home Point and hovers, then the pilot regains control. The drone cannot fly beyond 15m regardless of pilot input. Land the drone safely and timely. If not landed, it will descend automatically when the battery drains.
2. RTH Distance ≤30m: The drone flies directly back to the Home Point and descends to land.
Note: The drone cannot avoid obstacles during RTH flight.
Landing
- Option 1: Short press the [Landing] button to land the drone.
- Option 2: Slowly pull the Left Control Stick backward to land the drone until the propellers stop rotating.
Emergency Stop
Press and hold the [Emergency Stop] button for 3s; the drone will stop in the air and fall.
Note: This function is NOT recommended during normal flight or landing, as it may cause serious damage to your drone.
App Operation Guide
Download and Install the App
Download and install Snaptain Nova from the App Store/Google Play or by scanning the QR codes below.
Launch the App
Step 1: Turn on cellular data and location service on your mobile device. Open the Snaptain Nova App, select SP510, and tap Start.
Step 2: Tap the Live Map to load the map. Tap the [Location] icon to display your location in the center of the live map.
Step 3: Turn off cellular data. Go to your mobile device's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the Snaptain-SP510-xxxxxx Wi-Fi.
Notes:
- If the Snaptain-SP510-xxxxxx Wi-Fi is not listed or the App doesn't show the preview image, restart the drone and remote, then repeat pairing and calibration.
- Ensure the Snaptain-SP510-xxxxxx Wi-Fi is connected to only one mobile device.
- The drone's Wi-Fi has no internet access. To prevent your mobile device from automatically switching to cellular data, turn off cellular data when connecting to the drone's Wi-Fi.
Function Overview of the App
- 1 Back: Returns to the previous screen.
- 2 Media Gallery: View saved photos and videos.
- 3 VR Mode: Activate VR mode (VR device not supplied).
- 4 More: Access additional functions.
- 5 Waypoints: Define an exact flying route on a map.
- 6 Flip Image: Flip the image 180°.
- 7 Flight Records: Check flight records.
- 8 Settings: Configure drone settings.
- 9 GPS Signal: Check GPS satellite signal strength. The GPS Mode is available when the icon turns blue.
- 10 Wi-Fi Signal: Check the drone's Wi-Fi signal strength to avoid blurry video. If signal strength is low [Low Signal Icon], fly the drone back immediately.
- A Return-to-Home (RTH): Initiates the RTH function.
- B Follow Me: The drone follows the mobile device.
- C Mark and Track: The drone's camera keeps pointing at a selected subject.
- D One Key Take-off: Initiates automatic take-off.
- E One Key Landing: Initiates automatic landing.
- F Gestures for Photo/Video: Control photo/video capture with hand gestures.
- G Photo: Take a photo.
- H Video: Record video.
- I Record: Starts/stops video recording.
- J Remote Battery Status: Displays the remote's battery level.
- K Drone Battery Status: Displays the drone's battery level.
- L Live Map: Displays the live map.
- M Flight Distance, Flight Height, Flight Speed, Ascent/Descent Speed: Displays flight telemetry.
Settings
Tap [Settings] to configure your drone.
Flight Parameters:
- Beginner Mode: ON by default, with preset flight parameters. Recommended for beginners.
- Flight Distance: Reset the maximum flight distance (default 30m, adjustable 20-1200m).
- Flight Altitude: Reset the maximum flight altitude (default 30m, adjustable 10-120m).
- RTH Altitude: Reset the RTH altitude (default 25m, adjustable 10-220m). Note: RTH Altitude cannot be higher than Flight Altitude.
You can reset Flight Distance, Flight Altitude, and RTH Altitude as needed.
IMPORTANT:
- Before flying, ensure the GPS Signal icon is blue.
- The maximum flight distance is set to 30m by default and can be reset in App Settings.
Take-off
Step 1: Tap [Take off?] to show operation icons.
Step 2: Simultaneously move the Left Control Stick to lower right at 45° and the Right Control Stick to lower left at 45° until the four rotor blades start rotating.
Step 3: Tap [Yes] on the pop-up window to take off.
Follow Me
When Follow Me is enabled, the drone follows your mobile device with its camera pointing at it. Tap the [Follow Me] icon, then tap [Yes] on the pop-up window to enable Follow Me based on GPS.
Tap the [Follow Me] icon again during flight to cancel this mode and regain control.
Notes:
- Follow Me function may have deviations due to GPS Signal. Maintain a safe distance between you and the drone.
- Activate this function only when there are no obstacles around to prevent accidents.
- This function cannot be activated when the drone battery is low.
Mark and Track
Tap [Mark and Track] and draw a box around the subject onscreen. The drone's camera will keep pointing at the chosen subject. Operate in a well-lit environment, and ensure the drawn box precisely frames the subject.
Tap [Mark and Track] again to cancel this mode and regain control.
Notes:
- Maintain a safe and effective distance (3-10m) between the subject and the drone.
- This function may not work if the subject is moving in dim light, is blocked, out of sight, or out of effective distance.
- This function cannot be activated when the drone battery is low.
Waypoints
Waypoints function allows you to define an exact flying route on a map during flight.
Step 1: Tap [Waypoints], then tap desired waypoints on the map. Tap [DELETE ONE] or [DELETE ALL] to reset.
Step 2: Tap [UPLOAD] to upload waypoints.
Step 3: Tap [Yes] on the pop-up window to start.
Tap [Waypoints] again during flight to cancel this mode and regain control.
Notes:
- Up to 16 waypoints can be set at a time.
- This function cannot be activated when the drone battery is low.
Photo/Video
- Tap [Photo] to take a photo.
- Tap [Video] to start recording. Tap again to end and save to memory card and mobile device.
- Tap [Video] then tap [Record with Sound] to record video with sound from your mobile device.
Go to Media Gallery, select the preferred photo or video, and tap [Share] to share with friends.
Gestures for Photo/Video
Tap [Gestures] to activate. Within 3m in well-lit conditions, use a right-hand gesture for photos, and a specific gesture for starting/ending recording.
Smart RTH
Tap [Smart RTH] to activate Smart RTH during flight and return the drone to the last recorded Home Point. Tap [Yes] to start RTH; tap [NO] to exit.
During RTH, tap [Cancel RTH] again to cancel RTH and regain control.
IMPORTANT: Tap [Cancel RTH] on the App after the drone lands and rotor blades stop rotating, otherwise you cannot regain control.
Landing
Tap [Landing] to land the drone during flight.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- Q1. LEDs flashing red after pairing: Turn off the drone and remote, then turn them on and re-pair.
- Q2. Image shaking: Do not fly in strong wind. If shaking persists in light wind, check if the drone arm is shaking; if so, replace the propeller.
- Q3. Video lagging: Fly within FPV range. If lagging persists, move to another location.
- Q4. Fail to connect to drone's Wi-Fi: Ensure only ONE device is connecting to the drone's Wi-Fi.
- Q5. Cannot see map after launching App: Ensure a map App is installed. The drone's Wi-Fi has no internet. Disconnect from it, turn on cellular data to preload the map, then turn off cellular data and reconnect to the drone's Wi-Fi.
- Q6. Drone drifts after taking off (imprecise hovering): Ensure GPS Mode is available (GPS signal icon is blue on App). Fly in the open air.
- Q7. FOLLOW ME function unavailable: Ensure location service is on for your mobile device, and the drone is flying in GPS Mode.
- Q8. Fly drone back when head/tail is unclear: Ensure GPS Mode is on. Press the [RTH] button to trigger RTH; the drone will fly back automatically.
- Q9. How to cancel Failsafe RTH: Press the [Cancel Failsafe RTH] button when the remote receives the signal from the drone again.
- Q10. Fly drone back when battery is low: Fly within 30m when the battery is low. When critical, the drone will automatically fly back and land.
