Quick Start Guide
Overview
The Wavlink AC1200 High Power Outdoor Gigabit Wi-Fi Range Extender/AP/Router is designed to extend your wireless network coverage.
Device Components:
- 1. 2.4G RP-SMA Antenna Connectors: For connecting 2.4GHz antennas.
- 2. 5G RP-SMA Antenna Connectors: For connecting 5GHz antennas.
- 3. Wi-Fi Signal LED: Indicates Wi-Fi signal status.
- 4. Wi-Fi LED: Indicates Wi-Fi activity.
- 5. WAN LED: Indicates WAN port connection status.
- 6. LAN LED: Indicates LAN port connection status.
- 7. Power LED: Indicates power status.
- 8. Reset button: Used to restore the device to factory default settings.
- 9. LAN port (POE): For connecting to a LAN device via PoE.
- 10. WAN port (POE): For connecting to a WAN source via PoE.
- 11. Grounding terminal: For grounding the device.
Top View: Shows antenna connectors and status LEDs.
Bottom View: Shows ports and reset button.
POE Converter: Facilitates power and data transmission over a single Ethernet cable.
LED Indicator

Wi-Fi Signal

Installation
Follow these steps to assemble the device:
- Pass the RJ45 cable through the spiral cover.
- Pass the RJ45 cable through the rubber seal.
- Pass the RJ45 cable through the holder.
- Connect the RJ45 cable to the POE IN/WAN port.
- Spin the 2.4G antenna into the 2.4G external RP-SMA connector.
- Spin the 5G antenna into the 5G external RP-SMA connector.
- Screw the holder.
- Plug the rubber seal to the holder.
- Screw the spiral cover.
Device Mounting: Fasten the device securely to a firm location using the provided holder.
Remark
For areas prone to lightning, it is recommended to install the device using the grounding connection to enhance lightning resistance.
Connection Steps:
- Connect a cable to the "POE" port of the POE converter.
- Connect "LAN DATA IN" to the "LAN" port of your router.
- Plug the device into the power adapter.
- Push the "ON/OFF" button to turn the device on or off.
Attention
- Ensure you use a certified CAT5e/CAT6 Ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors.
- Ensure the length of the Ethernet cable is less than 60m (196 ft.).
Configuration
1. Connection
1.1 Via Wireless
Turn on your Wi-Fi on your wireless devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.) and search for the SSID of this product. Connect to it.
For Windows users: Select "WAVLINK-N" or "WAVLINK-AC" from the available wireless networks.
For Mac users: Select "WAVLINK-N" or "WAVLINK-AC" from the Wi-Fi menu.
1.2 Via Cable
Connect an Ethernet cable from your PC/laptop's LAN port to the device's LAN port to begin configuration.
2. Accessing the Setup Page
Launch a browser on your laptop/PC or smartphone and enter wifi.wavlink.com
or 192.168.10.1
in the address field. The default password is admin
.
3. Select Operating Mode
Choose the mode that best suits your needs:
- Router: Connects as a router to a modem or another router via the WAN port.
- LAN Bridge (AP): The device's WAN or LAN port connects to the router, allowing multiple clients to share the internet.
- Wi-Fi Repeater: Connects as a Wi-Fi client to another Wi-Fi network.
3.1 Wi-Fi Repeater Mode
Choose an existing Wi-Fi network to connect to and enter its password.
3.2 Router Mode
Select your Internet type (PPPoE, Static IP, Dynamic IP) and enter the required credentials.
WAN Type Selection Guide:
- PPPoE: Use if your ISP provides a DSL line with an account name and password.
- Dynamic IP (DHCP): Use if you have a cable TV or fiber cable connection.
- Static IP: Use if you are provided with specific IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway information.
3.3 LAN Bridge (AP mode)
Set the Wi-Fi AP security information, including SSID, Security Type, and Wi-Fi Password.
Network Signal Flow:
- Router/AP Mode: Wireless signal originates from the Aerial HD4.
- Repeater Mode: Wireless signal originates from the main router.
Wi-Fi Configuration
On the Wi-Fi configuration page, you can change the Wi-Fi name (SSID), Security Type, and Wi-Fi Password.
Note: In Repeater mode, the Wi-Fi password must match the host Wi-Fi's password.
2.4G Wi-Fi Settings: Configure Wi-Fi, Hide Wi-Fi, 2.4G SSID, Security Type, and Wi-Fi Password.
5G Wi-Fi Settings: Configure Wi-Fi, Hide Wi-Fi, 2.4G SSID, Security Type, and Wi-Fi Password.
Firmware Upgrade
Follow these steps to update the device firmware:
- Download the latest firmware file from www.wavlink.com.
- Extract the firmware from the downloaded file.
- Log in to
wifi.wavlink.com
or192.168.10.1
, navigate to "Setup", and select "Upgrade Firmware". - Click "Browse/Choose File" to locate the firmware file.
- Click "Apply" and wait for the firmware upgrade process to complete.
What is firmware upgrade and why do I need it?
Firmware updates include bug fixes and new features. Keeping the firmware updated improves the user experience. Using incorrect firmware can damage the device and void the warranty.
