Required Safety Cautions
IMPORTANT: Read the safety section in the T-Edge operation manual prior to operating T-Edge.
CAUTION: Hot surface.
CAUTION: It is recommended that a ground fault circuit breaker (GFCI) be installed on the power outlet.
NOTE: Refer to the T-Edge manual before operating the device/autoclave.
T-Edge Overview
The T-Edge is a fully automatic tabletop autoclave designed for sterilization of equipment used in first aid rooms, hospitals, dental clinics, and medical clinics. It provides the following benefits:
- Strict compliance with international safety standards.
- Clinically proven sterilization capabilities.
- Optimal chamber capacity with convenient equipment loading.
- High-resolution tactile touchpad with a user-friendly interface.
Autoclave Components
The T-Edge autoclave features several key components for its operation:
- Top water fill: Located on the top surface for manual water addition.
- Front panel: The main operational face of the unit.
- Equipment rack: Internal racks for holding items to be sterilized.
- User Interface: A high-resolution tactile touchpad display for control and monitoring.
- Front fill and drain connectors: Ports on the front for water management.
- Barcode and records printer: An optional external device for printing sterilization records.
- Back connection panel: Rear panel with various ports.
- Safety valve: A safety mechanism located at the rear.
- Rear fill and drain connectors: Ports on the back for automatic water supply and drainage.
NOTE: The back fill (optional) and drain outlets allow T-Edge to be filled and drained automatically.
Optional equipment is supplied based on specific customer orders.
Connecting T-Edge
- Connect T-Edge to a power outlet.
- Connect the printer to a USB port (optional).
- Connect T-Edge to a computer via the LAN port (optional).
- Connect the distilled water supply to the rear fill (A) and drain (B) connectors.
Powering Up T-Edge
- Switch on the back power switch.
- Switch on the front power switch.
Use of these ports and connectors is optional.
Initial Date and Language Setup
When T-Edge powers on for the first time, perform the following steps:
- Tap the up/down arrow keys on the display to set the correct date and time, then tap 'Set'. The display shows 'MM/dd/yyyy, HH:mm' format, for example, '06/17/2020 08:32'.
- Tap the desired display language from the list (English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, 中文, 日本語, 한국어, Nederlands), then tap 'Set'.
User Interface
Display Elements
- Top bar: Displays current pressure (e.g., 98.4kPa), temperature (e.g., 120.2°F), date, time, and status icons (e.g., Wi-Fi, lock, water levels).
- Pressure and temperature in sterilization chamber: Real-time readings.
- Clean Water tank: Indicates the status of the clean water reservoir.
- Waste Water Tank: Indicates the status of the waste water reservoir.
- Door condition: Shows if the door is open or closed.
- Main screen area: Changes based on the system's state, displaying program options like 'Unwrapped 273', 'Wrapped 273', 'Unwrapped 249', 'Wrapped 249' with their respective sterilization and dry times.
- Page navigation arrows (left/right): Used to scroll through options or screens.
- Alert indication: Displays notifications or warnings.
Resetting Atmospheric Pressure
Prior to running the first cycle, resetting the atmospheric pressure is required. To reset the atmospheric pressure, the Autoclave door must be open and the chamber's temperature must be below 113°F.
- Tap the 'Settings' icon (⚙️) on the user interface and choose the 'Maintenance' option.
- Tap on 'Reset atmospheric pressure' from the maintenance menu. The display will show current atmospheric pressure (e.g., 100.9Kpa).
- Confirm the action by tapping 'Reset' when prompted with 'Reset atmospheric pressure Are you sure?'.
Filling T-Edge with Water
Fill the water reservoir with distilled water as described below:
- Pour water into the water reservoir opening: Locate the opening on the top of the unit and pour distilled water. The upper water insertion cover design may vary.
- Stop filling: Make sure to stop filling water when the water drop icon (?) appears on the display.
- Connecting a water bottle: Connect a tube from the front fill connector to a water bottle, and lift the bottle higher than the autoclave's top cover to enable water to flow into the reservoir.
NOTE: Use flexible soft bottles (do not use glass or rigid plastic bottles).
NOTE: The T-Edge can only be filled manually if it is not connected to water supply facilities.
Loading Equipment into T-Edge
Load equipment into T-Edge in one of the following ways:
- Place equipment on the trays (maximum 5 trays).
- Load 3 full dental cassettes + 3 half dental cassettes.
NOTE: Equipment must be thoroughly cleaned prior to loading.
Selecting Sterilization Program
- Take note of the equipment in the chamber.
- Tap the relevant program on the screen. Available programs include:
- Unwrapped 273 (Ster: 273°F/3:00min, Dry: 1:00min)
- Wrapped 273 (Ster: 273°F/4:00min, Dry: 23:00min)
- Unwrapped 249 (Ster: 249°F/15:00min, Dry: 1:00min)
- Wrapped 249 (Ster: 249°F/20:00min, Dry: 35:00min)
NOTE: The door must be open in order to select a program.
Locking the Door
- Close the door.
- Turn the handle 90° clockwise.
- Verify the lock icon (?) changes to the locked position on the display.
Running Sterilization Program
- Verify that the proper program has been selected on the display (e.g., 'Unwrapped 273' showing Ster. Temp: 273°F, Ster. Time: 3:00min, Dry Time: 2:00min, Total time: 46:22min).
- Tap 'Start' to begin the sterilization cycle. Options include 'Start Cycle By Clock' for a delayed session, 'Add Extra Dry Time' (➕) to increase drying, and 'Virus Protect' (✳️) to apply a virus protect stage.
- View status and progress bar on the display. The display shows current pressure, temperature, program name, and a countdown timer (e.g., 'Sterilization (01:54)' and '05:28').
If necessary, tap 'Stop' to stop the sterilization process.
Removing Sterilized Equipment
When the sterilization cycle is complete:
- Tap 'Confirm' on the display when 'Successful' is shown.
- Open the door.
- Remove the equipment rack using the handle.
CAUTION! Equipment rack is extremely hot; watch for vapor release when opening the chamber.
Turning Off T-Edge
Switch off T-Edge using the front power switch.
