JCC DOC# B5 March-2020 5500L Lab Stand Kit Safety Ring Focus Block Pole Top Base Plate w/ Pole Bottom LAB STAND STORAGE 1. Adjust Focus Knobs so that the tops of the moving parts align with the stationary parts of Focus Block to prevent damage. 2. Remove Focus Block from pole assembly. 3. Remove Safety Ring from pole assembly and return to Carrying Case. 4. Uninstall (unthread) the Upper Pole from the Lower Pole on the Base Plate and return to Carrying Case. 5. Invert the Focus Block, install and clamp firmly to the Lower Pole on the Base Plate and return to Carrying Case. Correct Storage in Carrying Case LAB STAND SETUP for use Model 8400 Optical Micrometer 1. Remove Base Plate w/ Lower Pole and Focus Block from the case and position on a flat surface. Note: the Focus Block is inverted and secured to the Lower Pole on the Base Plate for storage. 2. Loosen the Set Screw and remove the Focus Block from the Lower Pole. 3. Remove the Upper Pole from the case and thread onto the Lower Pole on the Base Plate. 4. Remove the red Safety Ring from the case and slide onto pole assembly, tighten to secure. 5. Slide the Focus Block onto the pole assembly (with the Focus Knobs and Mounting Plate on the bottom). 6. Thread the Optical Micrometer into the Mounting Plate on the Focus Block. 7. Install LED Flashlight into the Flashlight Ring. 8. Clamp Focus Block to pole assembly at approximate height needed for specimen. Use the Focus Knobs on the Focus Block for coarse positioning after clamping. Note: When in focus, the 10X objective lens will be approx. 0.250" above specimen with the 10X installed, or 1" with the 4X installed. 5500L Lab Stand Correct Setup with Optical Micrometer and Flashlight X-Y STAGE INSTRUCTIONS 1. The X-Y Stage attaches to the Lab Stand with (4) ¼-20 x ½" Socket Head Cap Screws on the underside of the Base Plate. 2. To remove the X-Y Stage: Loosen the Socket Head Cap Screws with an Allen Wrench (not included) and remove the X-Y Stage from the Base Plate. 3. To reattach the X-Y Stage: Orient the X-Y stage on Base Plate as shown in lower image and secure using an Allen Wrench and (4) Socket Head Cap Screws. 4. Install (2) Lead Screws into the threaded holes on the (2) Lead Screw Translators. Turn both Lead Screws evenly until the X-Y Stage is approximately centered on the Base Plate, as shown in lower image. 5. During measurement, turn Lead Screws for fine adjustment of target's X-Y position under Optical Micrometer. Note: Lead Screws are removed for storage in Carrying Case. WARRANTY INFORMATION John Chadwick Corporation DBA J Chadwick Co warrants the 5500L Lab Stand Kit, herein referred to as the product, against defects in material or workmanship as follows; LABOR For a period of two (2) years from the purchase date, if the product is determined to be defective, J Chadwick Co will repair the product at no charge to the buyer. If the product is determined by J Chadwick Co to be defective beyond repair, a replacement will be provided. PARTS For a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase, if the product or its components are determined defective, J Chadwick Co will supply, at no charge to buyer, new or rebuilt parts. DISCLAIMER (1) This warranty does not cover cosmetic damage or damage due to acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse, or negligence to any part of the product. (2) This warranty does not cover damage due to improper operation or maintenance. Warranty is null and void if repair or modification is attempted by anyone other than J Chadwick Co or its authorized representatives. Repair or replacement as provided under this warranty is the exclusive remedy of the consumer. J Chadwick Co shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages for breach of any express or implied warranty on the product. To obtain warranty service, buyer must contact J Chadwick Co prior to return to obtain an authorization to return the product for service. Buyer is responsible for providing proof of sale, which may be required for warranty service. The product should be returned to J Chadwick Co, in either its original packaging or packaging affording an equal degree of protection, with a copy of the bill of sale.
