Intended Use
This Braun upper arm blood pressure monitor is developed for accurate and comfortable blood pressure and pulse rate measurements in adults using the oscillometric method. It is intended for household use only. The device is not a substitute for regular medical check-ups by a doctor.
Understanding Blood Pressure
Blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day. Readings taken at home under relaxed conditions can better reflect actual values compared to single readings in a doctor's office. Regular home measurements provide valuable information for your doctor.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) and European Hypertension Society (ESH) provide guidelines for blood pressure classification:
Category | Systolic (SYS) | Diastolic (DIA) |
---|---|---|
Normal values | up to 140 | up to 90 |
Mild hypertension | 140-180 | 90-110 |
Severe hypertension | over 180 | over 110 |
Warnings and Precautions
- Read complete instructions for accurate results.
- Keep product and batteries away from children.
- Consult a doctor before use if you have cardiac arrhythmia, vascular constriction, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, or use a pacemaker, as deviations may occur.
- Consult your doctor if under medical treatment or taking medication.
- This monitor is not a substitute for professional medical consultation.
- Do not use on arms with wounds or injuries.
- Do not twist or inflate the cuff when not around the arm.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify parts.
- Avoid dropping or strong impacts.
Inserting Batteries
Remove the battery compartment cover and insert 4 AA LR6 alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity. Remember to reset the date and time after replacing batteries.
Dispose of empty batteries at appropriate collection sites, not in household waste.
(Diagrams show battery compartment and correct insertion.)
Key Rules for Accurate Measurement
- Take readings at the same time daily, under the same conditions.
- Avoid measuring within 30 minutes of smoking or consuming coffee/tea.
- Remove wristwatches and jewelry from the measuring arm.
- Sit, relax, keep still, and do not move or speak during measurement.
- Wrap the cuff snugly around the arm at heart level.
- Do not vibrate the unit during measurement.
- Sit with feet flat on the floor.
- Do not wear the cuff over thick clothing; remove tight-fitting clothing from the left arm.
Choosing and Applying the Arm Cuff
Select the correct cuff size based on arm circumference (Small/Medium: 22-32cm, Large/XLarge: 32-42cm) for accurate measurement. The bottom of the cuff should be 2-3 cm above the elbow.
Application Steps:
- Thread the cuff end through the metal ring to form a loop, with the smooth cloth inside.
- Plug the air hose into the connector.
- Ensure the Velcro is on the outside and the metal ring does not touch the skin.
- Place the left arm through the cuff loop. Position the bottom edge 2-3 cm above the elbow, with the tube over the brachial artery on the inside of the arm.
- Tighten the cuff edges snugly around the arm and secure the Velcro.
- The cuff is correctly applied if the 'index' mark falls within the 'OK range' marked by two arrows.
- Sit and place your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
(Diagrams illustrate cuff application and fit checking.)

- When the pulse is detected, the heart rate symbol [heart-rate] will flash.
- After measurement, the LCD shows results and the WHO indicator. The device turns off automatically after 1 minute or can be turned off by pressing the Start button.
Memory Function
The BP6200 stores the latest 60 readings for each user. Each reading includes systolic, diastolic pressure, pulse rate, date, and time. Memory slot #01 is the most recent. Oldest values are overwritten when the memory is full.
Press the Memory button (M) (2) to review stored data. Pressing it again shows previous data. Ensure the correct user (A or B) is selected.
Average Function
Press the Average button (5) to view:
- Full day average of the past 7 days.
- Morning average of the past 7 days.
- Evening average of the past 7 days.
Pressing the button cycles through these views.
Erasing Data
With the device off, press and hold the Memory button (M) (2) for over 5 seconds. The LCD will display "dEL ALL" (with the current user icon). Press the Memory button again to confirm deletion; the LCD will show "---", indicating data is cleared for that user.
Irregular Heart Beat Detector
The appearance of the irregular heart beat symbol [irregular-heart-beat] indicates a pulse irregularity detected during measurement. This can be caused by talking, moving, or an irregular pulse. If the symbol appears frequently, consult a doctor. The device helps detect irregularities early but does not replace a cardiac examination.
Low Battery Indicator
When the low battery indicator [low-battery] flashes, replace all four batteries with new LR6 (AA) alkaline batteries. After replacement, the device may enter time-setting mode; set the current date/time for accurate results.
Storage and Cleaning
- Store the unit in its carrying case when not in use.
- Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures, humidity, and dust.
- Do not store in temperatures below -20°C or above 60°C.
- Clean the casing with a damp cloth and mild cleanser, then dry thoroughly. Wipe the cuff dry if dirty.
- Do not use strong cleansers.
- Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for a long time.
- Do not modify or open the device; this voids the warranty.
Calibration
The device is designed for long service life. Annual inspection by an authorized service center is recommended to ensure accuracy. Contact the service center for calibration checking details and quotations.
