1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The MVS-8 is a 1RU rack mount monitor featuring eight 2-inch displays. It supports 8x 3G-SDI inputs and 8x 3G-SDI loopouts. The unit also includes audio meters, time stamp functionality, and custom text overlay capabilities.

  1. Power switch: The main power switch for the unit.
  2. 15V Locking DC power jack: Connection for the power adapter.
  3. RS422 input. RJ12 to DB9 Adapter Included: For remote control via RS422 interface.
  4. SDI output BNC: Outputs the SDI signal.
  5. SDI input BNC: Accepts SDI signals.
  6. DIP Switch for Audio Bars and Time Stamp Selection:
    • 6-1. Switch 1&2 control the (even number) monitors on the left of DIP Switch; Switch 3&4 control the (uneven number) monitors on the left of DIP Switch. For example, Switch 1&2 control monitor2; Switch 3&4 control monitor1.
    • 6-2. Switch 1&3 as time code switch.
    • 6-3. Switch 2&4 as audio level meter switch.

2. RS422 Control Software

To control the MVS-8 unit, connect your PC's RS422 port to the MVS-8. Power up the unit and launch the PC software “MVS8_Controls.exe”, available for download at www.ospreyvideo.com.

  1. In COM Settings, select the serial interface and click the Open button to open the serial port.
  2. Choose the monitor you want to control.
  3. The following settings can be changed:
    • Brightness control
    • Contrast control
    • Time code switch
    • Level meter function switch
    • UMD switch function: Enables the user to add text overlay to each display up to 32 half-width characters. Click the Data Send button to apply the setting.
