IKEA VASASTAN Gas Hob Installation and User Manual
This document provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, safe use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the IKEA VASASTAN gas hob. Please read all instructions carefully before proceeding.
General Information & Safety
This appliance is designed for cooking purposes only and is intended for domestic indoor use. It may be used in offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast establishments, and farmhouses, provided the usage levels do not exceed those of domestic use.
Important Safety Warnings:
- The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Exercise caution to avoid touching heating elements.
- Do not operate the appliance using an external timer or separate remote control system.
- Warning: Cooking unattended with fats or oils can be hazardous and may lead to fire.
- Never use water to extinguish a cooking fire. Turn off the appliance and cover the flames with a blanket or fire blanket.
- Supervise cooking operations continuously, even for short periods.
- Warning: Do not store items on the cooking surfaces.
- Do not place metallic objects such as knives, forks, lids, etc., on the hob, as they can become hot.
- Do not use the hob before the integrated frame is installed.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before performing any maintenance.
- Do not use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance.
- If the ceramic glass surface is cracked, immediately turn off all burners and electrical heating elements, and disconnect the appliance from the power supply. Do not touch the appliance surface.
- Children under 8 years of age and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, may use this appliance if supervised and instructed on safe use, understanding the associated hazards.
- Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Keep all packaging materials away from children and dispose of them properly.
- The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Keep children and pets away from the appliance during use and while it cools down.
- If the appliance has a child lock feature, it must be activated.
- Children should not perform cleaning or user maintenance without supervision.
Installation
Installation must be performed by a qualified technician. Follow the assembly instructions provided with the appliance.
Electrical Connection:
- Ensure the appliance is properly grounded.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before any work.
- Verify that the voltage and frequency ratings on the appliance's rating plate match the available power supply.
- Use the correct power cable. Ensure it is not kinked.
- Secure the cable with the strain relief clamp.
- Avoid contact between the power cable and hot surfaces.
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.
- For appliances connected directly to the mains, a double-pole switch with a minimum 3mm contact gap is required.
- Ensure the power cord does not come into contact with parts that can reach temperatures above 50°C above room temperature.
- Use only the supplied hob guards or those specified by the manufacturer. Using unsuitable guards can cause accidents.
Gas Connection:
- Gas connections must be made by a certified installer.
- Before installation, ensure compliance with local gas supply regulations (type, pressure) and appliance settings.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
- Gas supply information is available on the rating plate.
- This appliance is not designed to be connected to a combustion product removal appliance. Ensure compliance with current installation regulations and adequate ventilation requirements.
- Warning: Risk of fire or explosion.
- Ensure the gas supply pipe is correctly connected and secured to the hob's connection. Failure to do so may result in gas leaks.
Installation Dimensions:

Daily Use
Igniting a Burner:
Always light the burner before placing pots or pans on it.
- Press the control knob and turn it counter-clockwise to the maximum position marked with a flame symbol (?).
- Continue pressing the knob for approximately 5 seconds to activate the safety device and heat the thermostat. If you release the knob too soon, the gas supply will be cut off.
- Once the flame is lit, you can adjust it.

Warning: Do not continue to press the control knob for more than 15 seconds. If the burner does not ignite after 15 seconds, release the knob, turn it to the 'off' position (⚫), wait at least one minute, and then try to ignite the burner again.
If the burner fails to ignite after several attempts, check that the burner and cap are correctly positioned.
Flame Adjustment:
The hob is equipped with progressive thermostats for more precise flame regulation.

Energy Saving Tips:
- Always use lids on pots and pans when possible.
- Once liquids start boiling, reduce the heat to maintain a gentle simmer.
Extinguishing a Burner:
To extinguish the flame, turn the control knob clockwise to the 'off' position (⚫).
Warning: Always turn off the flame or the appliance before removing pots or pans from the burner.

Ensure cookware is centered on the pan supports. Use cookware that matches the size of the burner.
The base of cookware should be thick and flat.
Care and Cleaning
General Cleaning:
- Turn off the hob and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
- Clean the hob regularly to prevent damage to the surface material.
- Do not use steam cleaners or high-pressure cleaners.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, acids, or metal scouring pads.
- Do not clean burner caps and crowns in a dishwasher, as this can cause corrosion.
- Clean enameled parts, covers, and crowns with warm, soapy water.
- Immediately remove grease or sugar spills. Do not leave them on the hob.
- Clean stainless steel parts with water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Keep the ceramic ignition "candle" clean to ensure proper ignition.
- Do not clean pan supports in a dishwasher; wash them by hand and dry them. Ensure they are correctly placed after cleaning.
Troubleshooting
If a problem occurs, try to resolve it yourself first. If you cannot resolve it, contact the IKEA customer contact center.
