Precautions for Diving Watch Use
Before diving, check that the watch is functioning normally and be sure to observe the precautions described below.
Before Diving
- Do not use the watch for deep dives with helium gas mixtures.
- Check that:
- The crown is securely locked.
- There are no visible damages on the watch band and glass.
- The strap/bracelet is securely attached to the watch case.
- The strap/bracelet is fastened and fits snugly on the wrist.
- The rotating bezel moves smoothly counter-clockwise (its rotation should be neither too loose nor too tight), and the indicator is aligned with the minute hand.
- Time and calendar data are set correctly.
- The second hand is operating normally (if not, shake the watch several times for about 30 seconds to ensure effective mainspring winding).
In case of any malfunction, we recommend contacting a SEIKO SERVICE CENTER.
During Diving
- Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged in water.
- Avoid striking the watch against hard objects such as rocks and stones.
- The bezel may be stiffer underwater. This is not a malfunction.
After Diving
- After diving, rinse the watch in fresh water to remove sea water, sand, dirt, etc.
- To prevent the watch case from rusting, wipe the watch dry after rinsing.

Note: For safety, the bezel can only be rotated counter-clockwise to ensure the measured time is never shorter than the actual elapsed time.
Maintaining Your Watch's Quality
Temperature Range
The main components of mechanical watches are made of metals that expand or contract with temperature changes, affecting accuracy. Mechanical watches may run slower in high temperatures and faster in low temperatures.
Magnetism
Strong magnetic fields can adversely affect watch performance. Avoid leaving the watch in places exposed to strong magnetic fields.
Chemicals
Do not expose the watch to chemicals such as mercury, solvents, cosmetic sprays, detergents, glue, or paints. Otherwise, the watch case, bracelet, and other parts may discolor, be damaged, or deteriorate.
Periodic Checks
We recommend having your watch checked by an AUTHORIZED DEALER or SERVICE CENTER every 2-3 years to ensure the integrity of the case, crown, gasket, and water resistance.
Care for Watch Case and Bracelet
To prevent possible rusting of the case and bracelet, periodically wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.
Impacts and Shocks
Try not to drop the watch or strike it against hard surfaces.
Protective Film on Watch Case
If a protective film/sticker is attached to the back of your watch, remove it before using the watch.
LUMIBRITE™
LumiBrite™ is a luminescent paint that is completely harmless to humans and the environment, containing no harmful materials such as radioactive substances.
LumiBrite™ is a new type of luminescent paint that absorbs energy from sunlight and light sources in a short period and emits light in the dark.
For example, exposing the watch to light with an intensity of over 500 Lux for approximately 10 minutes is sufficient for LumiBrite™ to emit light for 5-8 hours.
However, please note that LumiBrite™ emits stored light, and therefore, the light intensity decreases over time. The duration of the glow may also vary slightly depending on factors such as the brightness of the lighting where the watch was exposed to light, and the distance between the light source and the watch.
If you go diving to depths where light does not reach, LumiBrite™ will only glow if it has absorbed and stored enough light energy. Therefore, before diving, expose the watch to light so that it absorbs and stores sufficient light energy. Otherwise, use the watch with a dive light.
Information on Luminosity
- (A) Sunlight [Clear sky]: 100,000 Lux [Cloudy sky]: 10,000 Lux
- (B) Indoors (Daytime outside window) [Clear sky]: Over 3,000 Lux [Cloudy sky]: 1,000 to 3,000 Lux [Rainy weather]: Less than 1,000 Lux
- (C) Light sources (40W fluorescent lamp) [Distance to watch: 1m]: 1,000 Lux [Distance to watch: 3m]: 500 Lux (average room illumination) [Distance to watch: 4m]: 250 Lux
