Hayward Salt & Swim™ Cell

Before you Begin

Remove the Salt & Swim Cell from the packaging. There is a small foam protector on the side of the Cell that must be removed.

For New Installations

When installing the Cell in a new Salt & Swim system, follow the instructions in the Owner's Manual and Installation Quick Start Guide included with your new Salt & Swim Control unit.

For Existing Installations

When replacing an existing Cell, follow the steps below:

1. Remove power to the filter pump. If using a pump timer, be sure that the timer won't turn on the pump during this installation.
2. Unplug the Salt & Swim Control Box.
3. Remove the old Cell:
   • Remove the Retaining Nut from the Cell Vessel.
   • Unplug the Cell Cap from the old Cell.
   • Remove the old Cell from the Cell Vessel.
4. Install the new Cell:
   • Slide the new Cell into the Cell Vessel.
   • Plug in the Cell Cap.
   • Hand tighten the Retaining Nut.
5. Run the pump for 5 minutes or until all air is out of the system. Check for leaks, then turn the pump off.
6. Plug in Salt & Swim Control Box and perform the Flow Switch Calibration Procedure (see below).

Flow Switch Calibration Procedure

1. After being powered on, the Salt & Swim will run a diagnostic routine which can take up to 30 seconds. During this time, various LEDs will turn on and off. When finished, the Salt & Swim will display a blinking INADEQUATE WATER FLOW LED and a solid STANDING BY LED. Keep the Salt & Swim powered for the remainder of this procedure.
2. Turn the filter pump ON. Make sure that full flow is achieved (no air in the system) and run the pump for at least 15 seconds.
3. Turn the filter pump OFF for 15 seconds.
4. The Salt & Swim should now display a solid INADEQUATE WATER FLOW and a solid STANDING BY LED. The Flow Switch Calibration procedure is complete. You can now turn on your filter pump and begin normal operation.
