Meet Your Smart Dimmer Switch
The Tapo Smart Dimmer Switch allows you to control lights, appliances, and other connected devices with a simple touch. It can also act as an instant trigger for your Tapo Hub.
Key Components:
- Button: The main interactive part of the switch.
- Lid: Covers the battery compartment.
- Main Body: The central part of the switch.
- Battery Compartment: Houses the battery.
- WallPlate: The mounting plate that attaches to the wall.
Before You Start
A Tapo Hub is required for operation. Ensure your Tapo Hub is successfully added via the Tapo app.
You can download the Tapo app from the [App Store] or [Google Play Store].
Installation and Setup
1. Power Up Your Button
a. Open the switch: Hold the main body by the small tabs to prevent free rotation. Twist the lid anticlockwise and remove it.
b. Insert battery: Remove the battery insulation tab to power up your button. The switch is now ready.
2. Set Up Your Dimmer Switch
Open the Tapo app. Tap the button icon within the app and select your model. Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to complete the setup process.
3. Test Your Dimmer Switch
Press the button to test its functionality. Verify in the Tapo app that the button press is registered.
4. Mount Your Dimmer Switch
Choose your desired location for mounting.
Mounting Options:
- Option A (Screws): Secure the wallplate to the wall using the included screws. The button then magnetically attaches to the faceplate. This option typically involves a wallbox.
- Option B (Tape): Secure the wallplate to the wall using the attached tape. The button then magnetically attaches to the faceplate. This option is for direct wall mounting.
In both options, the button is magnetically attracted to the faceplate once the wallplate is secured.

Battery Warning:
Chemical Burn Hazard: This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns within 2 hours and lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. Seek immediate medical attention if batteries are suspected to have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body.
General Safety:
- Keep the device away from water, fire, humidity, or extreme temperatures.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device. Contact support for service.
- Do not use the device where wireless devices are prohibited.
- Use the device with care and at your own risk.
Explosion Risk:
CAUTION! Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Avoid disposal of batteries into fire or hot ovens, or mechanical crushing/cutting, as this can result in an explosion. Do not expose batteries to extremely high temperatures or extremely low air pressure, as this can lead to explosions or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
