m WARNING! READ m BEFORE INSTALLATION
1. GENERAL: Afailureresultingininjuryordamagemay becausedbyexcessiveoverpressure, excessivevibrationorpressurepulsation, excessiveinstrumenttemperature, corrosionofthepressurecontainingparts,or othermisuse.ConsultAshcroftInc.,Stratford,Connecticut,USAbeforeinstallingif thereareanyquestionsorconcerns.
2. OVERPRESSURE: Pressurespikesinexcessoftherated overpressurecapabilityofthetransducer maycauseirreversibleelectricaland/or mechanicaldamagetothepressuremeasuringandcontainingelements.
Fluidhammerandsurgescandestroyany pressuretransducerandmustalwaysbe avoided.Apressuresnubbershouldbe installedtoeliminatethedamaginghammereffects.Fluidhammeroccurswhen aliquidflowissuddenlystopped,aswith quickclosingsolenoidvalves.Surges occurwhenflowissuddenlybegun,as whenapumpisturnedonatfullpoweror avalveisquicklyopened.
Liquidsurgesareparticularlydamagingtopressuretransducersifthepipe isoriginallyempty.Toavoiddamaging surges,fluidlinesshouldremainfull(if possible),pumpsshouldbebroughtupto powerslowly,andvalvesopenedslowly. Toavoiddamagefrombothfluidhammer andsurges,asurgechambershouldbe installed.
Symptomsoffluidhammerandsurge's damagingeffects:
·Pressuretransducerexhibitsanoutput atzeropressure(largezerooffset).
·Pressuretransduceroutputremains constantregardlessofpressure
·Inseverecases,therewillbenooutput.
FREEZING:
Prohibitfreezingofmediainpressure port.Unitshouldbedrained(mountin verticalpositionwithelectricaltermination upward)topreventpossibleoverpressure damagefromfrozenmedia.

3. STATIC ELECTRICAL CHARGES: Anyelectricaldevicemaybesusceptible todamagewhenexposedtostaticelectricalcharges.Toavoiddamagetothetransducerobservethefollowing:
·Operator/installershouldfollowproper ESD(electrostaticdischarge)protection proceduresbeforehandlingthepressure transducer.
Note:Theshieldanddrainwireinthe cable(ifsupplied)isnotconnectedtothe transducerbody,andisnotasuitable ground.
MOUNTING Thetransducerrequiresnospecialmounting hardware,andcanbemountedinanyplane withnegligiblepositionerror.
Althoughtheunitcanwithstandnormal vibrationwithoutdamageorsignificant outputeffects,itisalwaysgoodpracticeto mountthetransducerwherethereisminimumvibration.
ForunitswithNPTtypepressurefittings applyteflontapeoranequivalentsealantto thethreadsbeforeinstalling.
Whentightening, applyawrenchtothehex wrenchflatslocatedjustabovethepressurefitting. DO NOT tightenbyu singapipe wrenchonthehousing.
POWER SUPPLY K1 Models Only Thesupplyvoltageforthe1-5and1-6Vdc outputtransducersmustbewithintherange of10to36Vdc.Themaximumsupplyvoltagefora4-20mAcurrentoutputtransducer is36Vdcwhiletheminimumsupplyvoltage isdependentupontheloopresistanceofthe circuit.Theloadlimitationchartshowsthe minimumsupplyvoltage(Vmin)requiredfora givenloopresistance(RLOOP).
NOISE Forminimumnoisesusceptibility, avoid runningthetransducer'scableinaconduit thatcontainshighcurrentACpowercables. Wherepossibleavoidrunningthecablenear inductiveequipment.
