Introduction
Power modes: The machine has three power modes for different tasks. You can switch between power modes quickly using a single button.
- Eco mode: For longer cleaning sessions around your home.
- Auto / Med mode: The best balance of power and run time. Connect the cleaner head or Hair screw tool to activate Auto mode. Suction power automatically adjusts to dust levels.
- Boost mode: Designed for intensive spot cleaning of ground-in dirt.
Laser activation: Turn the laser on or off by moving the switch on the cleaner head. The Class 1 laser is safe for pets and people. Avoid looking directly into the beam.
Detecting microscopic dust particles: The piezo sensor continuously analyzes dust particle size and counts dust particles as they enter the bin. Connect the cleaner head or Hair screw tool and use in Auto mode to automatically increase suction power when needed.
The sensor displays particle size and count on the LCD screen. It automatically increases suction power when it detects higher concentrations of dust.
The LCD screen
The LCD screen displays particle count data and performance, including selected cleaning mode, run time, filter maintenance, and blockage information.
Settings menu: Control your machine's settings using a single button. To enter the settings menu, press and hold the button until the menu appears on screen. Press to cycle through the available options.
- Particle count and graph: Choose to turn particle count and detection on or off. Turning off particle count and detection will stop the machine from automatically adjusting suction power and turn off the graph. Auto adjustment between hard floors and carpets will continue when using the High Torque cleaner head.
- Suction power sensitivity: Use the selection button to change the particle counter's sensitivity. This will change how the machine automatically reacts to dust particles. For more information and support, visit www.gr.dyson.com/support/contactus.
- Change language: To change the language on your screen, press and hold the button until the language list appears. Release the button. Press the button to scroll through the language list to your preferred language. Press and hold the button until the countdown finishes. A green tick icon will appear on the screen to show your selected language is ready. To cancel your selection, release the button during the countdown.
- Change notification settings: You can turn off the motor notification. Your motor will no longer flash, but run time notification information will continue to display on the LCD screen when your machine needs attention. Turning off notifications will not turn off the blockage pulse notification. This is to ensure you clear any blockages, preventing damage to your machine. Press to enter the settings menu. Select ‘Notifications’. Navigate to turn on or off. Press and hold the button until the countdown finishes and a green tick icon appears on the screen. To cancel your selection, release the button during the countdown.
Run time countdown: When the battery needs charging, your machine will flash three times and a low run time icon will appear on the screen. When your battery is empty, a red warning icon will appear on the screen. When the particle count and graph are enabled, low run time will turn orange and red when in Boost mode.
Battery status: For best battery performance and life, use Eco or Auto/Med mode. Your machine will not operate or charge if the ambient temperature is below 5°C (41°F). This is designed to protect both the motor and the battery.
Notifications: The notifications you may see are:
- Fully charge before first use
- Airways blocked
- Filter not sealed
- Filter needs cleaning
Charging your machine
It is important to fully charge your new machine before using it for the first time and after each clean. This is because the battery and motor system algorithm learns over time, and fully charging the machine helps it to calculate and display the remaining run time more accurately.
Connect to charge directly or in the wall dock. The blue LEDs on both sides of the battery will flash during charging. When the battery is fully charged, the two LEDs will light up for 5 seconds. Your battery is fully charged when the screen shows 100%. The machine will not operate or charge if the ambient temperature is below 5°C (41°F). This is designed to protect both the motor and the battery.
Changing your click-in battery
If you have additional click-in batteries, Dyson recommends alternating between batteries to maintain consistent performance.
Removing your battery: Press the battery release button and slide the battery pack away from the machine.
Charging your battery: Charge the battery.
Re-fitting your battery: Align your battery pack and slide it into the machine. Push firmly until it clicks into place.
Caring for your floor
Ensure the underside of the cleaner head or tool is clean and free from any objects that may cause damage. Before vacuuming your floors, carpets, and rugs, check the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning instructions. Your machine’s cleaner wand may cause damage to certain types of carpets and floors. Some carpets will lose their pile if the cleaner wand is used while the vacuum cleaner is running. If this happens, Dyson recommends operating the vacuum cleaner without its motorised floor tool and consulting your floor manufacturer.
Emptying your bin
Empty as soon as the dirt reaches the MAX line – do not overfill. Using the machine when dirt is above the MAX line may affect performance and require more frequent filter washing. Overfilling the bin may lead to inaccurate particle graph readings.
- Remove the wand: Press the wand release button at the top of the wand and pull the wand away from the bin.
- Release the dirt: Hold the machine over the bin, pointing downwards. Press the red bin release button firmly. The bin will slide down, clearing the shroud, and the bin base will open. The bin base will not open if the red bin release button is not pressed downwards.
- Minimise dust contact: Seal the bin securely in a dust-proof bag while emptying. Carefully remove the bin, seal the bag securely, and dispose of it.
- Close bin: Push the bin base upwards until the bin and bin base click into place.
Washing your bin
Removing bin: If you need to clean your bin, empty it as shown in the ‘Emptying your bin’ section. Press the red button located on the bin to release the bin and slide your bin from the runner. Clean your bin with a damp cloth only. Ensure the bin and seals are completely dry before replacing them.
Re-fitting bin: Place the wand into the bin. Close your bin by pushing the bin base upwards until the bin base clicks into place. Your bin is not dishwasher safe and Dyson does not recommend using detergents, polishes, or air fresheners to clean the bin, as this may damage your machine.
Clearing blockages
Disconnect your machine from the charger before searching for blockages. Take care not to touch the handle and keep away from sharp objects. Allow your machine to cool down before searching for blockages. Do not use your machine when searching for blockages as this may cause injury. If your machine detects a blockage, the motor will pulse and you will not be able to use your machine until the blockage is cleared. If you attempt to use the machine when the motor is pulsing, it will automatically shut off.
- Check main body: Remove the bin and check the main body of the machine for blockages. Ensure all blockages are fully cleared and all parts are reassembled before using the machine.
- Check wand and cleaner head: Check the wand for blockages. Check the cleaner head for blockages, following the instructions for removing the cleaner wand where necessary.
- Reassemble machine: Reassemble all parts securely before using the machine. Clearing blockages is not covered by your warranty.
Washing your filter
Wash your filter at least once a month to maintain optimum suction power. For more information and support, visit www.gr.dyson.com/support/contactus. Important: Your filter must be completely dry before you put it back in the machine. Your machine could be damaged if used with a wet filter.
- Remove your filter: Twist your filter counter-clockwise and pull it away from the machine.
- Tap your filter: Before washing your filter, gently tap it over the bin to remove loose dust and debris.
- Wash filter: Wash in cold running tap water – gently rub the filter with your fingers to remove dirt.
- Fill and shake: Place your hand over the end of your filter. Fill the filter with cold water. Place your hand over the open end of the filter and shake firmly to remove trapped dirt and debris.
- Shake out water: Empty the filter and shake well to remove excess water. Shake the filter both upwards and downwards. Continue shaking until no more water comes out of the filter.
- Dry your filter: Leave your filter to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated, warm place. Do not dry your filter in a tumble dryer, microwave oven, or near a naked flame. Important: Your filter must be completely dry before you put it back in the machine. Your machine could be damaged if used with a wet filter.
