1. Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this AVATAR product! Alphard Audio is committed to creating extremely loud sound systems with no loss of quality. To ensure proper use, please carefully read through this manual before using this product. It is especially important that you read and observe cautions in this manual. Please keep the manual in a safe and accessible place for future reference.
2. Safety Instructions
Important safety guidelines for installation and use:
- Fasten the speakers properly when installing them in a vehicle. A disconnected component during driving may cause serious damage to passengers or other vehicles.
- Before installing, store the product in its original packaging if possible to avoid accidental damage.
- Be careful when installing and dismantling the speaker. Do not let the speaker drop to avoid damage to its moving parts.
- When working with tools, follow safety rules.
- Before installation, switch off the head unit and all other audio devices to avoid their damage.
- Ensure the speaker location does not hinder the proper operation of mechanical and electrical devices of the vehicle.
- Do not install components in places exposed to water, excessive humidity, high or low temperatures, dust, or dirt.
- ❗ ATTENTION!!! The product may be operated at +5 °C (41°F) to +40 °C (104°F). In case of moisture condensation, let the product dry.
- When performing plumbing, drilling, or cutting works on the car, ensure there are no wiring, brake lines, fuel pipes, or other structural elements under the work area. Follow safety rules! Use protective glasses and gloves.
- When stretching speaker cables, ensure they do not contact sharp edges or moving mechanical devices. Make sure they are firmly fixed and protected over their entire length.
- The diameter of the speaker cables must be selected in accordance with the length and applied power.
- Never stretch cables outside the car and near moving parts of the car. This can lead to destruction of the insulating layer, short circuit, and fire.
- To protect the cables, use rubber gaskets if the wire passes through a hole in a plate, or other similar materials if it lies close to parts exposed to heat.
⚠️ CAUTION!!! High sound pressure can damage your health! Please use common sense when controlling volume!
3. Wiring Diagrams
Do not expose your amplifier to loads below the value predetermined by the manufacturer. Various examples of connection types are given below. Use these examples to determine the required load impedance of your connection.
Serial Connection of Speakers (4 Ohm Voice Coil)
- 2 Speakers: Total impedance 8 Ohm
- 3 Speakers: Total impedance 12 Ohm
- 4 Speakers: Total impedance 16 Ohm
Parallel Connection of Speakers (4 Ohm Voice Coil)
- 2 Speakers: Total impedance 2 Ohm
- 3 Speakers: Total impedance 1.33 Ohm
- 4 Speakers: Total impedance 1 Ohm
Mixed Connection of Speakers (4 Ohm Voice Coil)
- 4 Speakers (2 series pairs connected in parallel): Total impedance 4 Ohm
⚠️ CAUTION!!! High sound pressure can damage your health! Please use common sense when controlling volume!
Selection of Speaker Cable Diameter
Use the table below to select the desired diameter based on the length and power consumption. Thicker cables (lower AWG number) are recommended for higher power and longer runs to minimize signal loss and heat buildup.
Power Consumption (W) | Cable Length (m) | Size (A.W.G) | Size (mm²) |
---|---|---|---|
25000 | 0-1 | 5 | 16.8 |
20000 | 1-2 | 8 | 8.37 |
15000 | 2-3 | 10 | 5.26 |
10000 | 3-4 | 14 | 2.08 |
This table serves as a guide. The provided data covers specific power and length combinations. For power levels below 10000W or cable lengths exceeding 4 meters, consult cable manufacturer specifications or a qualified installer, as the table in the PDF does not provide data for these ranges.
4. Filtering, Recommended Amplifier Settings
The correct choice of amplifier, its settings, filtering, and enclosure significantly influence the lifespan of your audio system. Select an amplifier with a nominal power that does not exceed the nominal power of the speakers. Proper coordination of the head unit (HU) with the amplifier will ensure a clean, undistorted signal applied to the component, preventing overheating and voice coil damage.
Recommended settings:
- Volume of HU should not exceed 80%.
- The amplifier sensitivity should be set to 50%.
Recommended filter settings:
- High Pass Filter (HPF): Set between 60-120 Hz (with a 24 dB/Oct slope) or 80-160 Hz (with a 12 dB/Oct slope). The HPF cuts all frequencies below the set point.
Recommended amplifiers: ABR-360.4, ABR-460.4, ABR-240.4, ABR-200.2.
Specific setting for XBR-613U: HPF - 60-120 Hz (24 dB/Oct), 80-160 Hz (12 dB/Oct).
