2. Overview

The Smart Grid Adapter connects Air-to-Air products to the Smart Grid. It offers 4 modes of operation, sending commands to override settings like drive and temperature set-point.

StateIN1IN2Action
100Return to previous state
201OFF
310ON +1°C
411ON +2°C

The current operational state is stored when transitioning from State 1 and resumed when inputs return to State 1. Exceptions include:

The saved state is lost upon power loss and re-read from CN105 upon power restoration. The device is powered via the CN105 connector; no external power supply is needed. Compatible model numbers are listed in the appendices.

Caution: Appendix A lists compatible indoor units.

3. DIP Switch Settings

The Procon Smart Grid Adapter features an 8-position DIP switch. For normal operation, DIP1 should be set to ON, and all other switches should be OFF.

[Image description: A bank of 8 DIP switches, labeled 1 through 8. Switch 1 is in the 'ON' position, indicated by a red slider. The text "DIP" is visible below the switches.]

5. Installation

5.1. Physical Connection

The Smart Grid Adapter has a 1-meter flying lead for direct connection to the CN105 connector on the controller PCB.

5.2. Power Supply

The Smart Grid Adapter is powered by the CN105 air conditioner host connector at 12V DC, eliminating the need for an external power supply.

5.3. Inputs

The Smart Grid Adapter includes a 3-way terminal block providing 2 volt-free inputs. The terminals are labeled Input 1, Ground, and Input 2. An input is considered 'On' when shorted to the middle Ground terminal.

6. Status LEDs

The Smart Grid Adapter has two status LEDs:

LED NameColourFunctionality
AC ACKGreenLit for one second upon device power-up. Flashes to indicate valid communication with the indoor unit.
MODEGreenLit when the device is in State 1; otherwise, the LED is unlit.

6.1. AC ACK

If the AC ACK LED does not flash, check that the CN105 connection is secure and the unit type is supported (refer to appendix).
