Operating Steps:
- Unpack the product.
- Connect the shredder to the power source.
- Ensure the power switch at the rear of the device is in the "ON" position – the blue standby symbol will illuminate.
- To feed paper into the shredder, lift the feeder door handle to open it and insert documents. If necessary, the door can be opened wider, at a 90-degree angle, for easier access. Feed paper into the automatic feeder in batches not exceeding the maximum sheet capacity. Do not fill the feeder above the maximum level ("MAX"), as this may cause damage to the shredder.
- The shredder will automatically start the shredding cycle WHEN the feeder door is closed. If paper remains in the automatic feeder after the first attempt, close and reopen the feeder door.
- Note: If necessary, the feeder door can now be locked by entering a 4-digit code (see section "Feeder Door Paper Lock").
- For shredding only a few sheets, you can use the manual feed slot, provided the automatic feeder is empty.
- Place the paper to be shredded into the manual feed slot. The shredder will detect the paper and start automatically.
- If the shredder is left in auto mode and not used for more than 2 minutes, it will automatically enter sleep mode to save energy.
- When paper is fed into the entry slot or the feeder door is opened, the shredder will automatically "wake up" from sleep mode. You do not need to press the auto-start button.
Reverse Function:
- In case of paper jams during shredding, the shredder is equipped with a reverse button (R) for user convenience.
- Reverse the paper, then turn off the shredder using the power switch at the rear. Remove paper from the manual feed slot (if used) or open the feeder door, remove the remaining paper batch, and then pull out the jammed paper from the cutting mechanism.
- To continue shredding, turn the shredder back on using the power switch at the rear. Press the auto-start button.
Feeder Door Paper Lock:
For enhanced security when shredding confidential materials, the feeder door can be locked.
Locking the Shredder:
- Place documents in the feeder. Close the feeder door.
- Enter any 4-digit code. REMEMBER THE ENTERED CODE!
- The shredder unlocks automatically when:
- The 4-digit code is entered again.
- The shredding process is completed.
- The shredder has been inactive for 30 minutes (but documents remain in the feeder).
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Bin Full:
When the bin is full, the shredder will stop operating and the bin full indicator will illuminate. Empty the bin.
- Slowly pull out the bin and empty it.
- Slide the empty bin back into place and press the auto-start button to resume shredding.
Leitz Clean Empty: For minimal mess, the bin full indicator flashes when the bin needs emptying. You can continue shredding while it flashes. When the flashing light becomes solid, the bin must be emptied.
Overheating:
If the AutoFeed shredder operates continuously without interruption, it may overheat, and the cooling indicator will flash red. Wait for the shredder to cool down.
When the shredder is ready for further operation, the overheat/cooling indicator will turn off. If the shredder needs to cool down during a shredding cycle, no action is required; the shredder will automatically resume shredding paper once it has cooled. While the unit is cooling, the user should ensure there is paper in the automatic feeder and that the bin is empty.
Oiling the Shredder:
Only use Rexel oil sheets (8007 00 00) for oiling. ACCO Brands does not guarantee proper operation and safe use of the shredder if any part of the device is oiled with other types of agents. Rexel recommends using an oil sheet after emptying the bin three times (and after every three bin empties). The oil sheet should be placed in the manual feed slot, NOT in the automatic feeder. Inserting an oil sheet into the automatic feeder will contaminate the feed rollers, preventing the automatic paper feed mechanism from working. If the rollers become contaminated, follow the instructions in the maintenance section.
Maintenance:
The feed rollers of the automatic feeder may become dirty over time. Wipe them clean with a dry cloth to maintain optimal device performance.
The infrared sensor located in the entry slot, responsible for the automatic start of the shredder, may sometimes become covered with paper dust, causing the shredder to activate even when no paper is being fed. Turn off the shredder using the switch at the rear and carefully clean the sensor with a cotton swab.
Service:
It is recommended to have these devices undergo technical checks every 6-12 months by Rexel service personnel. Information on service contracts can be found at https://www.leitz.com/support.
